"What’s wrong? Mom?" Seeing her hurried appearance, Cen Jin couldn’t help but tense up, standing up and asking: "Did sothing happen?" "It’s nothing major, it’s just that today is Monday, the scheduled shipping day, and there’s a bit of a situation on the delivery side. I need to head over there first." Ms. Qin draped the apron over the back of a chair, pointed at the bowls and chopsticks on the table, and said, "If you’re not busy, clean up before you leave. If you are busy, just leave them and clean up later. Also, don’t waste these buns. Take so over for Bai Zhou to try. I rember he quite likes them. I’m off now."
"Hey... Mom...," Cen Jin called out weakly, watching Ms. Qin change shoes at the door and leave. Finally, she sighed as Ms. Qin exited the courtyard, and sat back down.
After a few minutes of contemplation, when she was about to clear the dishes, a notification sound suddenly ca from the phone in her bag on the sofa. Setting down the dishes she just picked up, Cen Jin walked over, took out her phone, saw a WeChat ssage from Jiang Baizhou, and opened it to find a short question, "Awake?"
Cen Jin tried to suppress the smile trying to erge on her face, quickly typing five words back on her phone, "Yeah, I’m up, good morning."
After sending it, Cen Jin, containing her little excitent, waited for about a minute or so, but didn’t receive a reply. Thinking he might have just gotten up not long ago, maybe washing up, changing clothes, or having breakfast, she returned to the dining room, placed the phone on the table, and prepared to continue cleaning the dishes.
Just as she picked up the chopsticks, the doorbell rang. Cen Jin turned to look, paused suspiciously, then put down the chopsticks again and walked to the door, deliberately peeking through the peephole. Seeing that familiar handso face, Cen Jin imdiately opened the door happily and said with a smile, "Why did you co over?"
"Had breakfast?" Jiang Baizhou eyed her simple yet fresh and clean outfit, raising his eyebrows and replying.
"Yeah, just finished, was about to clean up the dishes! How about you, have you eaten?" Cen Jin stepped aside to let him in.
"Not yet."
"Perfect, my mom made quite a few stead buns today, and there’s soy milk. Why don’t you have so?"
"Sure."
"Let get you so chopsticks and a bowl."
After Jiang Baizhou sat at the dining table and saw two sets of bowls and chopsticks, he asked, "Where’s Aunt Qin?"
"My mom just left, said there’s so issue with the supply at the store. Not sure what exactly, didn’t ask in detail. Every ti she gets supplies, it’s at this early hour, often leaving without having breakfast properly." Cen Jin said, not forgetting to complain about Ms. Qin while pushing the new set of dishes to him. Then, she sat on the chair next to him: "I originally wanted to use this ti to tell my mom about our plan to register marriage, but ended up not saying anything. What about you? Did you tell Aunt Hui Zi?"
"Nope." Jiang Baizhou picked up a bun with his chopsticks, took a bite, and said, "My dad took her to Linhai yesterday afternoon."
"Went to see the sea?" Cen Jin was surprised but also sowhat comforted: "Well, that’s nice too. It ans Uncle and Aunt have a good relationship."
When I was younger, I always felt their relationship wasn’t great, like they were both close and distant. But now, I gradually realize their relationship is quite different from many ordinary couples, with one slowly stepping back and the other leisurely following behind.
