Upon arriving at the sauerkraut fish restaurant that Cen Jin had ntioned before, the two were guided to a seat by the waiter. The place was practically empty, and the sour aroma hit them as they entered. Cen Jin’s stomach growled even more from hunger. After scanning the nu on her phone and placing the order, she kept rubbing her belly, leaning back in the chair listlessly.

Jiang Baizhou got up, poured her a cup of self-serve tea, and pushed it in front of her, "Drink so water first to warm your stomach, so it won’t be too much of a shock when you eat later."

Cen Jin didn’t refuse, took it up, and drank a couple of sips to ease her hunger for the mont.

After waiting for about ten minutes, a waiter brought up a pot of sauerkraut fish. Just slling the fragrance made Cen Jin gulp eagerly. She couldn’t wait to grab her chopsticks and start eating, and even reminded the waiter to bring the rice she had ordered quickly.

Cen Jin has always been a foodie, and now that she was hungry, she eagerly picked up a piece of fish, symbolically blew on it twice, and put it straight into her mouth—but it still burned her.

Seeing her use her hand to fan her mouth painfully, Jiang Baizhou raised an eyebrow, sighed silently, and picked up a couple more pieces of fish for her, placing them on her plate. With a hint of annoyance in his voice, he said, "Am I competing with you? Or is this fish going to fly away if you don’t eat it quickly?"

"..."

Cen Jin looked up at him speechlessly, realizing that when this person is being sarcastic, he really spares no feelings.

Cen Jin didn’t argue with him and focused on filling her belly first.

After they finished eating and left the restaurant, it was already half-past six. The sky was covered in blood-red sunset, and a gentle evening breeze blew by, making a soft ’rustling’ sound, enveloping the twilight in impending silence.

Once in the car, just as the two were planning whether to go to a movie and which one to watch, Jiang Baizhou’s phone rang with a pleasant ringtone; the caller was Lu Xize.

Jiang Baizhou instinctively looked at Cen Jin, and she, catching his gaze, blinked innocently, "What... are you looking at for? Answer it!"

As if she was the one not allowing him to pick up the call.

At her words, Jiang Baizhou slid his long fingers to answer the call, putting it to his ear and asking calmly, "What’s up?"

"Old Jiang, save ! It’s a life-or-death ergency. If you co any later, you might not see again," Lu Xize’s voice was extrely urgent, sounding as if he was on the brink of despair.

Jiang Baizhou remained calm, having grown used to this lodramatic style of asking for help from him. Every ti Lu Xize needed sothing from him, it was always this sa kind of opening line.

"Well, in that case, you don’t need to repay the money you borrowed," Jiang Baizhou raised an eyebrow and replied serenely.

Next to him, Cen Jin, who was still picking out a movie on her phone, couldn’t help but twitch her lips, looking at him incredulously.

She seed to finally understand why Lu Xize always said he was a heartless tyrant and often lanted about making poor friend choices.

It seems those words weren’t unfounded. Sotis he really was quite heartless.

"Co on, can’t you just be a decent human being?" On the other end, Lu Xize was taken aback, almost speechless from Jiang Baizhou’s reply.

"Just tell directly, what’s the matter?" Jiang Baizhou is not one to beat around the bush, always getting straight to the point.

Except, of course, when it ca to matters involving Cen Jin.
