As soon as the call went through, the other party hung

1.

Then a ssage arrived. “Don’t call. My child has just fallen asleep.”

Keira was perplexed.

A child?

She was a bit confused.

She had thought the person setting her up must be soone with dark and calculating thoughts,

definitely harboring so sche, but now a child suddenly popped up?

And in her mind, an image of a flustered woman appeared…

She replied to the ssage. “Who are you?”

The response ca quickly. “Keira, I’m only looking out for your best interest. Listen to , don’t you

ever get a divorce! Only Lewis can protect you!”

Keira frowned.

<

Protection?

She had been in Oceanion for many years, indeed bullied badly by Poppy Hill, but it wasn’t to the

extent that she needed protection, right?

She replied to the ssage. “I don’t need anyone’s

protection.”

The other party replied again. “No, you do. You just don’t know it yet. Keira, I won’t hurt you. You have

to believe ! I only have good intentions for you!”

intentions…

Keira thought carefully. The matter of marrying Lewis had been approved by old Mrs. Horton, so it

didn’t bring her any losses.

On the contrary, for any normal person, marrying soone like Lewis of the top family would indeed a

stroke of incredible luck.

She wrote, “Tell who you are.”

The person replied, “I can’t tell you.”

Keira started to press for answers. “Then tell , how do you know that I’m actually Mrs. Olsen’s

daughter? If vou knew why didn’t you tell earlier?”

-

This person photoshopped a picture a few years back, inford old Mrs. Horton that Mrs. Olsen was

her

mother, and made old Mrs. Horton rember these

words.

But how could she know sothing even Keira herself

wasn’t sure about?

The person wrote, “The later you know, the better for you.”

Keira was confused.

She felt incredibly perplexed.

She sent a direct reply to the ssage. “If you can’t give a reasonable explanation, I’ll get a divorce

tomorrow.”

The person wrote, “What do I need to do for you t

believe ?”

Keira was perplexed. Why did it seem as though the one who conspired to marry her off to Lewis

without her permission was so innocent and weak?!

She felt like she was the bad guy!

Keira continued to ssage the person. “How did you

help get the marriage certificate back then?”

L

On the day when the marriage certificate was issued, she herself was in the lab, so she couldn’t

possibly have been there to get the certificate, and afterward, she had said so to old Mrs. Horton…

The person who registered the marriage was definitely not her!

But there was a photo…

Makeup technology being so advanced nowadays, so could there be an imposter?

Keira was a bit confused at the mont.

The other party sent her another ssage. “This, I can’t explain clearly in a text ssage. But I’m

begging you, you have to believe . I won’t hurt you!”

Again, that eerie feeling.

The other party used “I’m begging you” and was clea in a state of desperation.

Keira seized the opportunity to pressure the person. “I forgot to bring my marriage certificate today, but

tomorrow I have arranged to get a divorce with Lewis at the courthouse.”

The other party wrote. “Why can’t you just believe ?

Soone like simply can’t harm anyone… Keira, please don’t get a divorce. Don’t do it!”

Keira stared at her phone. “If you don’t explain yourself, I won’t believe you!

The other party didn’t reply promptly this ti and seed to be pondering over sothing. After a full

five minutes, they seed to finally make up their mind. “I’ll co to see you tomorrow morning. When

you see , you’ll know what’s going on!”

Keira frowned.

Tomorrow morning…

This person knew she was in a hurry, but they wouldn’t co over imdiately. Instead, they had to

wait until the next morning. Did it an they weren’t in

Oceanion?

Keira pondered for a mont and then replied, “Wha ti? I have plans at noon.”

She also had a farewell arranged for the handso

uncle!

The other party replied imdiately, “I should arrive by eleven, and I’ll contact you then. Don’t go

through

with the divorce in the morning no matter what! You must wait for !”

Keira replied, “Okay.”

After putting down her phone, she couldn’t sleep.

Standing on the balcony and gazing into the distance, she felt as though sothing was drawing

nearer and nearer to her… Perhaps tomorrow she’d understand the real reason behind the marriage,

but what could

the secret be?

As she mused, a noise ca from behind her.

Turning around, she saw her mother get up from the bed, take a shawl, and walk over to her, draping it

over

her shoulders.

A warm sensation enveloped her, also warming her

heart a little.

Keira’s expression softened. “Mom, why haven’t you gone to sleep?”

“Perhaps it’s the excitent of sharing a bed with my daughter for the first ti,” Mrs. Olsen looked at

her. “Keira, do you really have the heart to go through with

the divorce?”

Keira fell silent for a mont. “I don’t.”

Mrs. Olsen seed not to have expected such a firm answer and suddenly stepped forward, wrapping

her arms around Keira, and resting her head on her

shoulder.

Her hand gently patted Keira’s back as she spoke softly. “Keira, love is sweet but also bitter. If you want

to cry, go ahead. I won’t laugh at you.”

Hearing this, Keira’s nose tingled.

The repressed emotions in her heart seed uncontrollable, overflowing from her chest.

She hesitated slightly, wanting to say sothing, but the mont she began to speak, an

uncontrollable sob escaped her.

Imdiately after, large tears began to roll down.

She didn’t know what had overco her.

Perhaps it was for her love that had ended without a

solution.

Or maybe for the injustices she’d endured over the last

twenty-two years…

Unseen by her, a black Bentley was parked outside the

yard on the street.

Lewis sat in the backseat quietly.

The driver didn’t dare to breathe too loudly.

Today, Mr. Horton’s mood was all wrong; after going to the office, he finished all the work he needed to

do for

the week.

He didn’t return ho in the afternoon to deal with

international affairs but stayed at the Horton Group.

After work, he didn’t go ho but ca here instead.

Yet he remained silent, staring at the Olsen residence…

Just when the driver felt he was going to go insane,

Lewis suddenly said, “Let’s go ho.”

The driver sighed with relief

He started the car, and on the way back to Horton’s, he stole glances at Lewis through the rearview

mirror, seeing his boss with closed eyes.

For so reason, his usually authoritative boss. seed… pitiable.

The car soon arrived at the Horton residence.

After getting out of the car, Lewis walked toward Old Mrs. Horton’s yard without saying a word.

As he approached, he saw the driver from Horton’s old house squatting by the gate, looking utterly

bored.

But upon seeing Lewis, he imdiately sprang up. “Mr. Horton, you’re finally back! There’s a parcel for

you; it was sent to the old house!”
