While it had human features, it did not feel “alive”. Rather, it appeared to be closer to a doll than a living being.
The freed blood ghost had to rely on its own strength now. It seed wary of Lin Jin but it was reluctant to run away due to its desire to devour more human flesh to increase its size.
This was the nature of a blood ghost.
A bloodthirsty monster that could devour humans and beasts alike.
Lin Jin was rather troubled now. Subduing a Rank 5 blood ghost was extrely challenging. Moreover, while Lin Jin knew how to form a second blood pact, he had never tried it before. Should he fail, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Fortunately, Lin Jin had a backup plan. When he killed the deford man with his Thunderfire Needle, he didn’t retrieve his weapon but left it in the man’s corpse. Since the blood ghost had devoured him, the Thunderfire Needle now existed inside its body. Lin Jin invoked a spell to control the Thunderfire Needle, with the hope of subduing the blood ghost from within.
To his surprise, once the spell was activated, Lin Jin found himself disconnected from the Thunderfire Needle.
As if his psyche on the needle was promptly removed, he couldn’t sense it anymore.

Lin Jin realized this situation was going from bad to worse. He hadn’t expected the blood ghost to be powerful enough to swallow his Thunderfire Needle. Lin Jin didn’t even have the ti to mourn his loss, as he had to co up with a way to counter the blood ghost’s upcoming attacks.
Just as Lin Jin was about to take it head-on, a voice called out.
“I finally found you!”
It was Shu Xiaolou’s voice.
Lin Jin was overjoyed.
Looking up, he found a painting flying over, and then a person erged from it. She was none other than Shu Xiaolou in her green maiden form.
What’s more, she wore a murderous expression.
Just now, she had been in Peach Blossom House with Lin Jin when her friend was suddenly attacked. The enemy had been brilliant enough to cage Lin Jin in a barrier-type spell before transporting him away.
Shu Xiaolu was obviously infuriated by this, given how her good friend had been abducted right before her eyes.
Thus, Shu Xiaolou comnced pursuit. Had it been anyone else, they wouldn’t have been able to find Lin Jin, but thanks to her skill and experience, she was able to reach this place by relying on minor clues.
