"We don’t have great transport vehicles; you’ll have to take civilian cars to get near the battlefield. You’ll still need to walk 2 or 3 kiloters."

"No problem." Xiang Ziyu nodded, then handed the map and so battlefield blueprints provided by the other party to the deputy battalion commander beside him, "Let’s not waste ti! You’ve slept enough on the plane, right? Let’s go! We’re heading out!"

The paratroopers had just disembarked from the plane and boarded various old-looking vehicles at the airport. So were cargo trucks, so were civilian cars, a motley collection that was quite amusing to see.

A convoy like this, traveling along the highway, could easily be attacked by enemy air units. However, recently the Tang Army had deployed a few self-propelled anti-aircraft guns along the key routes, so the enemy’s aircraft seldom bothered this supply line.

On this morning, when the Tang Army’s defensive line was on the verge of collapse, a small number of paratroopers from the Great Tang Empire arrived at the front line. Their arrival stabilized the defense line, bringing both sides back into balance.

...

"Look, just look at this!" A Laines Empire officer angrily placed the items in his hand on Supre Commander Paul’s desk.

Several relevant generals, along with Paul, silently looked at the pile on the table. They truly didn’t expect the Tang Army could arm their soldiers to the teeth.

It was a set of Tang Army equipnt stained with blood, including a tactical vest with bulletproof plates, soft-connected groin protectors, portable bags, and steel helts made of special Kevlar material...

Wearing these items, the combat effectiveness of the Tang Army is indeed formidable. The submachine guns commonly equipped by the Laines Empire, using pistol rounds, proved hardly lethal against the Tang Army’s armor.

The breathable and lightweight steel helt was particularly enviable: under the sa level of protection, the Tang Army’s helts had more functionality without the issues of wear and reflection. The interfaces reserved for night vision, communication, and other devices all proved the strength of the Tang Army.

Every detail of this equipnt was ticulously improved, every piece’s position battle-tested. The weaponry and ammunition were placed in the most handy locations, and even the inconspicuous small design in a corner often contained astonishing functions.

Fighting against such opponents really dampens one’s spirits.

"This is a Tang Army anti-tank missile! As for this sight... I don’t even know what to say." The Laines Empire officer, who found himself totally unable to understand the Tang Army’s weapons and equipnt, continued dejectedly.

Originally, he was a specialist in analyzing military equipnt technology for the Laines Empire. He ca to the front line this ti to help analyze the Tang Army’s equipnt technology so the troops could promptly adjust to the weaknesses of the enemy’s weapons.

Unfortunately... after examining the Tang Army’s weapons and equipnt, his conclusion was that the opponent’s weapons were a whole generation ahead, without any weaknesses!

When he examined the scope on the Tang Army’s individual anti-tank missiles, he couldn’t even understand its operation. After referencing the simple diagram and instructions next to it and fumbling for a while, he barely figured out the basics.

The precision of this device was more complex than a television from the Laines Empire, but it was only the size of two fists.

Equally shocking to him was the Tang Army’s walkie-talkie: that device was only the size of a palm yet could effortlessly receive clear sounds from several kiloters away, whereas the Laines Empire’s equivalent could only fit inside a tank...

"The various imitations of weapons haven’t been mass-produced yet, and the enemy is already knocking on our door. There’s nothing we can do," a technical officer explained helplessly.

Laines had tried to imitate so of the captured Great Tang Empire weapons, but the imitation faced many difficulties.

If it were that easy to handle, they wouldn’t have failed to equip even a few air-to-air missiles by now. The main fighter jet of the Laines Empire was the Mirage 1 jet fighter, initially without missiles. The Laines Empire attempted to replicate the Great Tang Empire’s missiles and produced a poor-quality missile, but due to its complexity, it remained exceedingly rare.

Similar efforts were almost aningless in the face of the Great Tang Empire’s vast array of advanced weapons and equipnt, barely making a difference.

"I know the Tang Army is indeed very difficult to deal with, but what can be done?" another officer added in frustration.

As the front line supre commander, Paul knew that the situation was beyond his control. He didn’t defend the technical officers being reprimanded but said, "We’ve already taken their first line of defense, which shows we still have a chance to defeat them."

Though his troops lost over 3,000 n when attacking the first defensive line, in the end, they still seized the ground. As long as they weren’t afraid of casualties, he could eventually raise the Laines Empire’s flag over the city of Brunas.

He was more concerned about the speed of the Tang Army’s reinforcents: just before this discussion on Tang Army weapons technology, he had received a definite piece of news.

A different Tang Army unit appeared on the road advancing towards the Laines Empire troops. This unit had replaced the original, exhausted Tang Country defense forces and blocked the Laines Empire’s advance.

Though it’s unclear which forces this unit belonged to, combined with so information from the Suthers Empire, Paul surmised that it seed like the Great Tang Empire’s paratroopers had arrived.

This made him very uneasy because past combat examples proved to him that the paratroopers of the Great Tang Empire were tenacious, brave, and fierce, and whenever they participated in a battle, they never lost.

The appearance of such a unit on the battlefield was not good news for the Laines Empire.

If the situation remained at a stalemate, waiting for the Tang Army’s heavy weaponry to enter the battlefield and for the Tang Country Air Force to start playing their role, taking Brunas back would not be easy for the Laines Empire.

In fact, a Great Tang Empire Navy Task Fleet was already deployed southward near the Eastern Continent’s coast, not too far from Brunas.

Though this fleet only had one aircraft carrier, its response speed was fast enough. Once it arrived, there would be Tang Army carrier-based fighter jets providing air cover support over Brunas.

From any direction, the reinforcent speed of the Great Tang Empire far outpaced what the Laines Empire estimated. Paul needed to seize the precious hours before him to conquer Brunas.
