Capítulo 1906: Chapter 1808: The Dispersed Million-Strong Army (Part 2)

The exposed command center is naturally filled with difficulties in recovery, and Felix dares not rebuild his command post in the sa place, so the subsequent relocation will waste more ti, continuing to trouble the senior commanders of the Allied Forces with command and coordination issues.

“Marshal! News has just arrived from the Laines Empire…” An officer found Felix, who was furiously handling docunts in his temporary command post, and handed the letter delivered by the Laines ssenger to the Elf Marshal: “It’s bad news.”

“A division of Laines’ infantry suffered heavy losses, about 1000 soldiers chose to surrender despite orders.” Seeing Felix open the letter, the officer briefly introduced the content of the letter.

Felix gave a bitter smile, knowing that such things were bound to happen sooner or later, as he had no way to provide effective support to the frontline troops.

Most of the Allied heavy artillery was destroyed on the way, and with the enemy having air superiority, the immobile artillery units were utterly ineffective.

In the sa manner, the situation was similar for the Allied Armored Corps. Countless tanks were destroyed on the way to regroup, and only a few armored combat vehicles could make a difference on the frontline.

Without the support of heavy weapons, the frontline troops had to face the superior armored forces of the Tang Army alone, which was no different from sending the soldiers to their deaths. If death was the only outco, it wasn’t surprising that soldiers would choose surrender, was it?

The Air Force… best not to ntion it. Over the seven days since the battle began, they claid to have lost more than 490 aircraft in total.

Yet none of the fronts engaging in fierce battle ever saw a single aircraft from their side. There hasn’t been a single Allied plane in the warzone skies; this result makes it hard to believe the Allied air power was involved in this battle at all.

“Tell the generals of the Laines Empire that they must hold their current positions and avoid similar occurrences again…” Felix had no solutions, only repeating the sa words he’d said countless tis over the past days.

He couldn’t mobilize the ground troops for reinforcents, nor promise any air support, so he could only reiterate the uninspiring remarks.

Although the Allied Forces still had nearly a million troops in the direction of Hotwind Port, the fierce assault by the Tang Army over the past days only destroyed less than ten percent of the Allied forces.

But the majority of the remaining Allied Forces couldn’t maneuver; they were pinned down by the planes of the Tang Army, like a fat pig — although plump and strong, rely waiting to be slaughtered.

Felix was helpless too; he couldn’t stack the troops densely on the front line. Deploying a million troops requires an enormous area, which ans, in a way, the Allied Forces were still dispersed in this region.

The Tang Army’s attacks left these troops unable to support each other, like fish on the chopping board, at soone else’s rcy, with no ability to counterattack.

And the reports from other directions showed a similar effect in nearly all areas. Thousands of planes operated efficiently, leaving the Allied Forces passively taking hits along the entire line.

“But, Marshal… the other side hoped we could provide so reinforcents; they lack a large number of artillery and corresponding shells…” The officer didn’t leave, cautiously conveying the other’s requests.

Upon hearing these demands, Felix let out a bitter sigh, saying, “Even if I had artillery to give them, do they have the ans to get those guns to the frontline? Don’t they understand how their artillery was utterly lost?”

Everyone who fought against the Tang Army knew that their own weapons and equipnt actually played little role: artillery dispatched to the front would be attacked by the Tang Country Air Force during transport, with about only a third arriving safely; in position, this artillery would be harassed by ard helicopters and long-range rocket artillery, leaving roughly half remaining; and the remaining would surely be at a disadvantage in artillery duels with the Tang Army, quickly being decimated.

Even with an advantage, Allied artillery units could not match the artillery units of the Tang Army possessing artillery radar, most of whom have self-propelled artillery.

The two are simply not on the sa level; as soon as the Allied artillery opens fire, they expose their position and are then engulfed by the Tang Army’s ultra-long-range counter-fire.

Despite this, Felix’s exact words couldn’t be relayed to the Laines Empire’s ssenger delivering the letter. Leaving the command post, the Elf Officer returned to the tent to et the waiting Laines ssenger once again.

“How’s it going?” The ssenger was anxious because he knew very well the dire losses Laines’ troops had suffered; they desperately needed reinforcents.,

“The situation is not optimistic, though we’re willing to provide reinforcents and aid, troops moving northward need ti, and the Tang Army’s bombardnt also slowed our mobilization.” The Elf Officer polished Marshal Felix’s words, trying to make them sound more agreeable.

“I know, I understand… but the losses suffered by Laines’ Army are severe, they need so uplifting news.” The ssenger pleaded. He couldn’t return empty-handed, knowing the trip to and fro took considerable ti: “We need help! For the sake of our alliance…”

The next ti he returned, the situation might have worsened, so he had to bring back sothing substantial; it was the guarantee he made to his superior before coming here.

“The Marshal is working on it…” The Elf Officer was also powerless, as Felix hadn’t agreed to provide reinforcents, so he could only delay.

In reality, he was well aware of the situation of the reinforcent troops dispatched by the Elf Troops to the frontline these days; out of ten trucks, only about one can approach the frontline, and a thousand delivered bullets might reach the soldiers’ hands as only one hundred rounds.

Looking at the tank wrecks destroyed on the roads, it’s clear that any action to amass forces is futile and does more harm than good.

Rather than gathering to be discovered and destroyed by the Tang Army’s planes, it’s better to remain concealed in the original locations, allowing the Tang Army to whittle them down bit by bit… because this consus more of the Tang Army’s ti, making it a more successful defensive tactic.

This tactic, however, is not without flaws. As the battle continues, these dispersed but unable-to-regroup units will beco increasingly fragile and easier to annihilate.

They will surrender, they will collapse… at that ti, there will be few who can genuinely delay the Tang Army, and most of these units will beco prisoners of war, at most helping to consu so of the Tang Army’s food reserves.

“We are here to fight for the Poplar Empire… Your inaction while we are attacked will cause great damage to the alliance between our two countries!” the human ssenger stressed discontentedly upon hearing the delay.

As he spoke, the air raid alarm went off again, signaling another air strike by the Tang Army: but this ti, the target of the two Thunderbolt attack aircraft was still the small town where the Allied Army Headquarters had previously been located, so distance away from their current hiding place.

Standing at the forest edge, watching smoke rise from the distant town, and seeing the two Thunderbolt attack aircraft continually dive and fire in spirals over the town, the Laines Empire ssenger was experiencing an indescribable feeling.

“See? We’re also struggling here. It’s not that we’re unwilling to help; it’s that we truly can’t provide assistance.” Watching the distant attacked town, the Elf Officer explained helplessly: “I’ll speak on your behalf… and ask the Marshal to allocate troops as possible, to try and support you…”

“Th-thank you.” The Laines ssenger instinctively expressed gratitude…
