Do not overestimate your courage; when confronted with a corpse, most normal people will start to shiver. The bloody sll lingering in the air after a car accident is enough to cause adverse reactions, making many police officers vomit.

Now the ground is covered with all sorts of corpses, and a group of those soon-to-be corpses still moaning and groaning in agony. How many people can calmly pick up the rifle beside them?

"Take cover! Find sowhere to hide! Quickly!" After a while, soone finally recalled their duty and shouted a directive after a while: at least he reminded his comrades what they should do instead of yelling a bunch of aningless nonsense.

Finally, so soldiers started to move, not because they found their courage but because they realized laying there wasn’t safe either.

These soldiers didn’t even bother to pick up their weapons; they jumped over their comrades who were more dead than alive and ran towards the nearby woods.

The small woods weren’t large, but to these soldiers, it seed much safer than out in the open. If they stopped to take a closer look, they would see the tree trunks, thick as bowls, also impaled with tailed steel needles.

...

At the Laines Empire command post, still so distance from the frontline, the scene had already changed. Many tents had been blown to the ground, and the furniture and utensils inside were scattered and abandoned.

The guard unit nearby was frantically handling the debris beside a huge crater, finding so missile casings left after the explosion, as well as so belongings of their army chief of staff.

Half of the army command post had been wiped out by the Tang Army’s anti-radiation missiles, with no senior military leader spared except the Laines Empire frontline commander at the front.

Compared with those Coalition Forces who had enough of the suffering from anti-radiation missiles, the senior commanders of the Laines Empire hadn’t realized how crucial it was to turn off the radio.

They had set up a large number of radio devices, conveniently locating them near the command post.

Now they paid the price, finally understanding why so many kind reminders from the Allied Forces emphasized the importance of landline phones.

Of course, they started to believe those exaggerated claims, that the Tang Army could accurately detect the transmission spots of radio signals, and radars were easy targets, etc. Earlier, they thought the Allies had lost and were exaggerating, but now they knew the warnings were actually quite conservative.

It’s too late to say anything now; the entire army command system has collapsed. Communication channels are suppressed and disrupted, commanders targeted and killed, leaving the troops paralyzed and vulnerable.

Many non-commissioned officers and officers at the headquarters were bandaging wounds; the army command center’s dical conditions were relatively good, at least there were military doctors on standby.

A Major General, with an arm wrapped in a bandage, abandoned his prestigious military cap for a steel helt, walking over to a regintal commander of the guard unit to inquire about the casualties: "When can we get this place sorted out?"

"Not within a day." Watching his busy subordinates, the regintal commander replied, "You’d better leave here with others; the enemy might launch a secondary attack anyti, and it’s very dangerous here."

"Our docunts, reports, records... are all here. Even if we leave, we can’t do much in a short ti." The Major General said with a wry smile: "Find a way to inform the Commander about what’s happened so he can make the right judgnt."

"No contact." The regintal commander shook his head: "Interference noise fills the radio channels, and any distance further ans no reception. Plus, you just ordered the shutdown of the remaining high-power radio stations."

"Yes, all shut down! If we are attacked again, it’s over." The Major General, haunted by fear, was far from the command post during the attack, barely escaping a precise missile strike. If it happened again, his life would be in peril too.

After pausing, he continued: "Send soone to make contact! By horse! Or motorcycle... even a car, whatever it takes. Find the Commander, tell him about the incident at the command post! Send soone smart! Explain the situation clearly..."

He realized he might not be able to explain things clearly himself because he hardly knew anything: he didn’t know the extent of the losses, how long recovery would take, or how to handle current problems.

So he added: "Explain as best as you can... also, arrange for soone to wait nearby, in case any ssenger cos to communicate with us, bring them over, I need to know the situation of our troops."

After all, he’s still a General, so he had so competence. He knew the most critical issue now was chaos, caused by the disruption of communication and the delay in intelligence transmission.

Therefore, he couldn’t easily relocate the command post, at least not until the Commander returned; otherwise, the entire troop would remain in chaos.

However, he didn’t dare stay put either; if there was a secondary attack, those of them still alive would be in deep trouble. Thus, he needed to shift the command post a bit, to appear safer.

What he didn’t know was that the Commander he was hoping to reach at the frontline was already dead; his car was penetrated by countless steel needles, leaving no one, including his secretary, adjutant, and driver, spared.

The soldiers guarding them were luckier, since they were in an armored vehicle, so only a few were lightly injured.

But they were troubled, as the Supre Commander, whom they were supposed to protect, was dead, and dead in an heinous manner. Without a steel helt in his car, wearing his military cap, his head was pierced by arrow clusters, his original appearance unrecognizable without a close look.

The death of the big shot they protected left these Guards without a report to make to their superiors. So they stood there bewildered, unsure what to do next.

No one told them what to do, and there was no ssage over the radio; what happened was unknown to these little soldiers. The accompanying Commander was just a Captain, and expecting farsighted decisions from him was unrealistic.

So the situation is this: the attacked command post wants to find their already deceased Supre Commander, while the guards of the Supre Commander know he’s dead, but they have no way to inform anyone.

You can’t just casually tell soone, "Our Supre Commander is dead, better think of sothing quickly." Eventually, the Captain commanding the Guard unit exercised so subjective initiative, put the Commander’s body in an armored vehicle, and returned to their headquarters with it.

At the sa ti, the frontline troops of the Laines Empire were in chaos. The units organizing the attack got disoriented by the first blow, and the subsequent Tang Army air raids and artillery fire prevented any counterattack organization.

So these troops could only stay on standby like fools, repeatedly sending people to contact the rear command, hoping the command would change its decision and cancel the continuous attack order.

Yet, none of them returned with any useful information, only knowing that no one could make decisions, everyone was waiting for new orders.
