Chapter 1731: Chapter 1648: The Saint Luo Farce

The Tang Army has already occupied Saint Luo’s port and obtained so supplies through the airport. The Great Tang Paratroopers were fully prepared, just waiting for the Allied Forces to counterattack.

But they waited until noon and still did not see any counterattack from the other side. In fact, it was not that the Allied Forces here had given up on the counterattack, but rather they found themselves seemingly unable to counterattack.

Due to communication disruption and other issues, the reaction from the Allied Forces was very slow, and the troops simply could not gather for deploynt. Similarly, there was no authoritative commander to issue orders.

The consequence of having to discuss everything was that nothing could be decided; so believed they should hold fast and wait for reinforcents, others believed they should counterattack quickly, and so only ntioned difficulties without proposing counterasures.

The hard-to-assemble Elf 2nd Division troops of roughly two battalions were finally inexplicably divided; two companies were deployed into the city, two companies were left in their original place, and two companies bypassed the city defenses and headed towards the field airport occupied by Tang Army Paratroopers.

The reason for such division was that so felt the Tang Army in the city had to be resolved first, others believed the airport direction was the priority, while so gave a reason that neither of the other two sides could ignore and thus left two companies as a reserve.

The Tang Army’s armored brigade was rapidly advancing south, and sohow this information was transmitted back to Saint Luo. The tanks of the Great Tang Empire had already reached a place over 30 kiloters north of Saint Luo, and they might strike the northern defensive line of Saint Luo today.

To prevent the Tang Army from breaching the position, as many troops as possible must be kept in the north to confront the enemy, so two infantry companies were left on standby.

The two companies of soldiers transferred into the city were bewildered; once they entered the city, they began maintaining local security and constructed a defense line, without any intention of attacking.

Later, they found out there were too many Tang Army troops entering the city, and the Elf and Dwarf commanders were unsure about a successful counterattack, so they could only hold the existing area.

Such a decision ant they could only stay in place for defense; in fact, the two companies of soldiers had no real possibility of attacking the Tang Army. Unless they went mad, after two charges, these units would likely be wiped out.

The situation outside the city was similar: when the surrounding Dwarf Troops provided so intelligence and roughly estimated the air landing scale of Tang Army Paratroopers, the two supporting companies of Elf infantry were instantly dumbfounded.

They only had two companies, and to counterattacking several companies of Tang Army in the wild? They weren’t foolish, how could they do such a foolish thing? So even though they reached the nearby area in the morning, they delayed all the way until noon without launching an attack.

Not to ntion an attack, they weren’t even sure of defending their current line: the surrounding heavy artillery positions were either lost or were being bombed. They had no way to deal with that damned field airport several kiloters away.

This farce continued until the afternoon before finally coming to an end: the Allied Forces abandoned the plan to attack the airport outside the city, preparing first to resolve the Tang Army Paratroopers within the fortress.

Thus, the two hard-to-position Elf infantry companies were again transferred into the city to prepare for combat.

At this point, many may have a question: why do the Saint Luo garrison troops, with tens of thousands of soldiers, only keep moving battalion-level forces?

Actually, the tens of thousands of Allied Forces troops were laid out quite dispersedly, with the largest portion being within the northern defensive line of Saint Lo City, and the forces in other directions were actually not many.

The sudden appearance of Tang Army Paratroopers disrupted nearly all of Vankelus’s deploynts; even he himself might not have a response strategy, let alone a group of staff consulting and commanding.

The determination to mobilize larger troops fundantally did not exist; everyone dared not bear the responsibility, and when problems arose, they shifted bla onto each other. Ultimately, they could only bear to mobilize battalion-grade troops.

But the problem is that this level of troops simply cannot resolve anything: the Tang Army in the port area inside the city only saw one half-hearted attack during dinner ti; calling it an attack might not even be accurate.

About 200 Elf soldiers tentatively attacked, and after throwing down about thirty corpses, they ended the day’s battle casually.

That’s correct, throughout the entire day’s ti, the Allied Forces launched only one counterattack, primarily probing in the urban area. Precious ti was thus wasted, and by this ti, the Tang Army’s main force was already less than 15 kiloters away from Saint Luo.

The Tang Army did not idle for the day; they found ways to deploy so transport ships to Saint Luo. At the sa ti, they successfully completed the task of delivering supplies to the 1st Corps.

Although the Tang Army only advanced five kiloters during the day’s ti, they completed the most important supply process and simultaneously launched a nightti attack.

Therefore, after dinner, Hoge’s attack speed was faster and fiercer, making the northern defenses of Saint Luo precariously unstable. No one discussed reallocating more troops into the city anymore.

Also, on this day, Marshal Felix, the Supre Commander in the Saint Luo direction of the Allied Forces, finally received the precise news that General Vankelus, whom he should depend on, was missing and suspected to have already sacrificed himself for the country.

Facing the tragic news, Felix also didn’t know what to do; he was still en route, completely ignorant of the situation in Saint Luo. Therefore, he had no way to remotely command. Moreover, given the then intermittent communication of the Allied Forces, remote command was simply not feasible.

By this point, the battle had already decided the outco, the Tang Army had no pressure whatsoever, and the situation in the Saint Luo direction of the Allied Forces had effectively collapsed.

Sure enough, early the next morning, the Tang Army’s main force breached the periter defenses of Saint Luo, utterly shattering the entire Saint Luo defense zone, with approximately thirty thousand Allied Forces soldiers laying down weapons and opting to surrender.

The remaining troops once again began fleeing in chaos, dividing into small groups and escaping cleanly from the incomplete defensive zone of the Paratroopers.

By noon that day, the Tang Army declared that they had occupied Saint Luo and simultaneously announced the capture of the highest commander of the Saint Luo Fortress, Vankelus.

Within two days, the Saint Luo Fortress assault concluded, with the Tang Army controlling the second port and completely thwarting the Allied Forces’ plans to encircle the 1st Corps of the Great Tang Army in the field.

The Elf 4th and 5th Corps, originally rushing towards Saint Luo frantically, suddenly stopped like hitting the brakes and began feverishly constructing fortifications in the wild.

They must do this because further south from Saint Luo is the northern border of the Elf Race’s Poplar Empire! In other words… the war had already nearly reached their doorstep.
