I prepared dinner while waiting for Kogoro. Ran and Sonoko also started helping. Conan, being too short to help, just played gas in the living room.

"So tomorrow, we fish in the morning and swim in the afternoon?"

Ran asked about the schedule.

"Yeah. In the morning, it's too cold to swim, so I'll go fishing with Mouri-san. Then when the sun's up, we'll swim."

"So, how far are we going?"

"The Amami Islands. I originally wanted to go to Okinawa, but it's too far. But the Amami Islands also have that tropical island feel and are nice, so it's fine. Let's go to Okinawa together during vacation."

Sonoko emphasized, "Don't go without !"

"How could we leave you out, Sonoko?"

"Heheh, that's right."

As we chatted and prepared the al, we saw Kogoro grumbling as he entered the marina.

"Really, I can't rember, so what..."

In Tokyo, he knew many police officers, so they let things slide, but Osaka seed more thorough. Kogoro's fa and money ca from Conan, but from another perspective, Kogoro was also a victim.

"Did things go well with the police?"

Ran asked Kogoro about the case.

"The culprit confessed, so I didn't have to give a statent, but they kept grilling . Oh~ Dinner is skewers tonight."

"Yes. You worked hard."

Kogoro's mood improved quickly with skewers and beer.

'Simple-minded, as usual.'

After a delicious dinner, we imdiately set sail for the Amami Islands. Conan and the others, tired from the murder case and the day's activities, showered and went to bed early.

Seven hours after leaving Osaka, we arrived at a fishing spot near the Amami Islands. It was already 4 AM, so I dropped anchor and took a nap on the sofa. I woke up at 8 AM and prepared a simple breakfast of various rice balls and soup.

"Ugh... I must have played too hard yesterday. I slept so soundly I wouldn't have noticed being kidnapped. Oh, rice balls for breakfast. Hey Jin, do you ever sleep?"

Sonoko, always seeing awake, questioned .

"Of course. I slept after we arrived."

"I see."

Sonoko accepted my vague excuse. In that regard, she was easygoing.

"Where are we? There are only small rocky islands around."

"This is a fishing spot near the Amami Islands. We're going to catch our lunch here."

"Oh~ Really? But can we trust Mouri-san?"

Everyone looked at Kogoro. Kogoro puffed up with confidence.

"Just trust the Great Detective Mouri. I'll make sure you eat delicious fish today. Pu ha ha!"

Kogoro wasn't very reassuring.

I chose this spot because, with luck, you could catch tuna. Not the huge ones you see on TV, but small tuna under a ter. I'd heard rumors they occasionally appeared.

My yacht wasn't a fishing boat, so we could only fish from the back, limiting the number to about two. So I gave one spot to Kogoro, and Ran and Sonoko took turns on the other.

"Are we going to miss lunch?"

An hour into fishing, with no bites, Conan asked anxiously.

"I don't know. Let's wait a little longer."

Ti passed with no action. Two hours in, Kogoro's rod suddenly bent.

"Got one! I got one!"

Conan, Ran, and Sonoko looked at Kogoro in surprise.

"Oh~ Finally!"

Kogoro put on a show, fighting the fish. But it wasn't very big.

"Get ready. It's coming up."

I got the landing net ready. The fish was a striped jack, about 25 centiters. I scooped it up and put it in the cooler.

"Wahahaha! What a thrill! A striped jack... It's delicious as sashimi."

Striped jack is indeed excellent sashimi. But one fish wasn't enough for five people.

"See? That's just the beginning! Get ready."

Another hour passed with no bites.

"Shouldn't we go soon? I'm hungry."

Conan grumbled. Then suddenly, Ran's rod bent sharply.

"Kyaa~ Jin! Help!"

I quickly went to Ran and helped her hold the rod. Whatever was on the line, it was big. I held on. When the fish seed to tire, I gave the signal.

"Ran! Now, reel it in!"

"Okay!"

Ran started reeling. The line tightened again.

"Stop! Wait. Now!"

We repeated this process until finally, the fish surfaced. It was a tuna, a little over a ter.

"Wow~!! Isn't that maguro (tuna)?"

"Yeah, it's tuna! Looks over a ter."

Sonoko and Kogoro were astonished.

"Mouri-san! Please hold the rod. I'll bring it in."

"Got it."

Kogoro held the rod while I used the landing net and fish grips to haul the tuna aboard.

"Wow~ It's huge! Wait, where's the asuring tape..."

Kogoro asured it. Exactly 1 ter and 5 centiters.

"Ran, that's amazing! Catching sothing like that!"

"Amazing, sis!"

"Heheh, it's nothing."

Sonoko and Conan praised her, making Ran blush. We took photos with the tuna in various poses. Then I got a knife and began preparing the tuna.

"Huh? You're cooking it now?"

"No. Tuna die quickly once caught. I need to process it imdiately, or the taste will degrade."

Kogoro nodded. "He's right. You need to gut tuna and put it on ice right away."

I quickly processed the tuna, divided it by cut, put half in the fridge, and began slicing the rest for sashimi. Of course, I also prepared Kogoro's striped jack as sashimi.

Kogoro, still disappointed, kept fishing.

"Dad, co eat."

"Damn... I wanted a tuna... sob..."

Kogoro ca to eat, very disappointed.

"Wow~ This is fresh and delicious. I've never had sashimi from a tuna caught this fresh."

"Sa here! And Mouri-san's striped jack is good too, even if it's small."

Ran and Sonoko enjoyed the sashimi. Conan teased Kogoro.

"'Even if it's small,' he says! Pfft!"

"You little!"

Thwack!

"Ow!"

Kogoro flicked Conan's head. Everyone laughed.

After the delicious al, we cleaned up, rested, and then I took the yacht to a spot I had scouted. It was a cove with calm waters and a good depth for swimming.

"We're here."

"Wow~ I can see the bottom! A tropical sea indeed."

"Everyone, change into your swimsuits."

"Okay!"

While they changed, I dropped anchor and brought out water toys, including a small inflatable boat and water boosters.

They ca out in their swimsuits. Ran wore a blue one-piece, Sonoko a yellow bikini. Both had great figures. Conan was srized.

Sonoko asked about the water booster.

"What's this?"

"It's a water booster. You hold onto it and press the button, and it propels you forward without swimming. But be careful, or you might swallow water."

"Oh~ I see. Let try."

"Okay. But let's stretch first."

"Even here you act like a teacher. Fine."

We did a quick warm-up and jumped into the sea.

"Yahoo~!!"

Splash!

After swimming for a while, I put on goggles, grabbed a water booster, and enjoyed exploring underwater. Kogoro was interested in the inflatable boat, so I showed him how to drive it. He happily buzzed around the cove. Having warned him, he didn't go near the waves. Conan seed to be having fun too, focused on playing with his tube.

We played until sunset, then I called everyone back.

"Let's go eat dinner!"

Everyone gathered back at the yacht.

"That was so much fun. Too bad. Can we play again tomorrow?"

Sonoko was disappointed. Ran said, "We have to go back today, or we'll miss school."

"Ah... I don't want to go to school. I want to live here."

Sonoko pouted like a child. The others didn't say anything, but their faces showed the sa disappointnt.

"Then we'll co again. I'll plan another trip."

"Wow~ Really? Okay!"

Everyone's faces brightened. Promising to co again, we took photos with the setting sun as a backdrop. Then I sailed to a marina on Amami Oshima. For our final dinner, we had delicious seafood teppanyaki at a hotel in front of the marina. Afterward, we set sail for Tokyo.

Everyone, tired from playing, went to bed early. I sailed hard, stopping briefly at a marina in Shizuoka for breakfast, and finally arrived at the Tokyo marina at noon. For lunch, we grilled the tuna Ran had caught. After eating, we packed up.

"Then, see you at school tomorrow~"

"Yeah, see you tomorrow."

I put Ran and her family in a taxi first. Then Sonoko and I took a taxi to the Suzuki residence. Chairman Suzuki was at work, but his wife Tomoko welcod us.

"Did you have fun?"

"It was so much fun. I want to go again."

Sonoko's bright expression pleased Tomoko. "Oh my, Sonoko's so happy. I'd like to go too. Did you take lots of pictures?"

"Of course."

Tomoko and Sonoko looked at the photos, happily chatting.

"Well, I should be going."

When I tried to leave, Tomoko invited to stay for dinner.

"Jin, why don't you stay? The family will be ho soon. Have dinner with us."

"Is that alright?"

"Of course. You took care of our rambunctious daughter. The least I can do is feed you."

"Honestly, Mom..."

Sonoko blushed.

I stayed, had a delicious dinner with the Suzuki family, talked about the trip over dessert, and then returned ho.

The next day at school, Ran and Sonoko were suffering from post-vacation blues.

"Ah... I want to go again."

"I know. The warm sun, the wide, beautiful ocean..."

"I didn't feel it while we were there, but the next day, I'm so tired."

"Right. This trip's post-vacation blues are especially bad."

After school, I went with Ran to the Mouri Detective Agency. Kogoro and Conan were also suffering.

"Dad, we're ho."

"Huh? You're here?"

Kogoro was slumped in his chair, barely lifting a hand in greeting. Conan was lazing around in his room. This state seed like it would last for days.

I made dinner for the listless group, ate with them, then rode my bike to the marina, cleaned the yacht, moved it out to sea, and stored it in my inventory.

A few rainy days later, as I was lazing around at ho, I received an urgent ssage from a Shadow Soldier I had secretly planted near Shinichi's house. I imdiately used Shadow Exchange to switch places with it and went to Shinichi's house. There, I found a brown-haired girl collapsed on the ground.

The girl was 'Haibara Ai'.
