Gu Chaoyan threw a look at Gu Ruxue who looked earnest and passionate.

Now Gu Chaoyan realized that this must be Princess Jing, the mother of Lord Ling.

Like Princess Virtue, she was also one of the top four major princesses, but Princess Virtue had no children, so Princess Jing was still a rank higher than Princess Jing.

That made Gu Chaoyan understand that soone was in a more precious position than Princess Virtue.

As she understood who this woman was, Gu Chaoyan now understood that the banquet was just an excuse. It must have been Princess Jing’s intention to see Gu Ruxue who was supposed to marry Lord Ling.

Gu Chaoyan had not expected that Lord Ling would have chosen a girl from this family. And he was not offering the position of Princess Consort; just Concubine.

However, if it was for Gu Ruxue’s sake why did Mrs. Gu and Gu Ruxue insist on bringing her along? Just to show off in front of her? Nevertheless, when the marriage was settled, Gu Ruxue could do anything just to show off as well, right?

Gu Chaoyan had thought that it must have been Mada Gu’s intention to bring her along for this visit, but now Gu Chaoyan could tell that it was not Mada Gu’s intention at all.

Was sothing terrible about to happen?

Gu Chaoyan now realized what was going on here. She threw a look at Sword One.

Sword One soon got the point. She sneaked away when the people were all gathered here.

Overjoyed, Gu Ruxue was about to say sothing when Princess Jing sized them up and asked, “Which one of you is the lineal daughter?”

Gu Ruxue’s smile stiffened. She and Gu Chaoyan looked totally different in appearance. Why was Princess Jing still asking her this? Lord Ling was going to marry her, not so divorced woman!

Nevertheless, Princess Jing was asking for a lineal daughter!

Gu Ruxue was furious. Damn Mada Gu, she should have gotten her the position of lineal daughter earlier, but she disapproved of the proposal just because Gu Chaoyan had befriended Lord Huai! Look at what happened now!

Mada Gu’s face sank too. According to what Zhenkang said, she thought that Lord Ling already had a clear goal – Ruxue! But now Princess Jing was asking which one was the lineal daughter... did she an that Lord Ling ant to marry a lineal daughter?

For one second, she had no idea what to say.

Gu Ruxue stayed silent. So did Gu Chaoyan. She was not going to marry Lord Ling if that was what Princess Jing wanted.

“Lady Chaoyan is the Elder Miss, Ruxue is the Second Lady.” Mada Gu answered stiffly instead of saying which one is the real lineal daughter. ” Chaoyan’s birth mother Mrs. Lin passed away when she was little, and Ruxue is the present Mrs. Gu’s daughter.”

That was a full detailed sentence, but Gu Chaoyan could tell that it was spoken in favor of Gu Ruxue!

She was indicating that even if she was the lineal daughter, she was motherless.

Gu Chaoyan sneered without saying anything more.

Now Princess Jing understood what happened. She stopped looking at Gu Chaoyan and turned to Gu Ruxue instead. “Co to Lady Ruxue, I think you look very nice. I would like to share so words with you.”

Gu Ruxue’s furious face was now covered with a smile. She gave a look of warning to Gu Chaoyan as she went to Princess Jing.

Gu Chaoyan, however, was seated quietly with Mada Gu.

She had taken the seat when Princess Gu got her tea. Gu Chaoyan took up the teacup and was about to drink it when she sensed sothing strange.
