Chapter 92: Chapter 90 You’re Acting Strange

Lu Jingyan lifted her head, her gaze eting Sheng Xian’s as he suddenly bent over, looking into her eyes.

He reached out, gently brushed her bangs, and said in the sa tone he had used with the little girl in the supermarket, “This three-year-old baby, rember to brush your teeth after eating candy.”

Lu Jingyan was intently staring at the road ahead, gripping the steering wheel steadily as she drove.

It was a weekend evening, and the traffic was relatively smooth. After passing through several traffic lights, Lu Jingyan couldn’t bear it any longer, she abruptly turned the wheel and stomped on the brakes, stopping by the roadside.

So ti had passed since she left Sheng Xian’s ho, yet she still couldn’t get over his line, “This three-year-old baby, rember to brush your teeth after eating.”

It was she who had asked to be coaxed; yet, in the end, it turned out she was the one being coaxed.

Sheng Xian’s voice was already pleasant, but it beca especially enticing when he deliberately softened and slowed it down.

And then there was the tone he used, just like he was coaxing a child.

Who the hell could withstand that.

Lu Jingyan thought of how she had stood in front of him like a soulless being, unmoving, until he flicked her forehead, and only then did she co to her senses in a daze.

He asked her, What are you daydreaming about?

She replied to him, Goodbye.

Then, she turned around like a marionette, moving chanically.

What the hell kind of nonsensical conversation was that.

And that wasn’t the most embarrassing part, the most embarrassing was when she pushed open the door and, without changing her shoes, walked straight toward the elevator.

Sheng Xian seed to call her several tis, but she didn’t hear it. Finally, he grabbed her arm, pulled her back, pressed her shoulders down, and made her sit on the small chair next to the shoe cabinet. Only then did she look up at him.

She’d have been better off not reminiscing such monts, as thinking back on how she was easily coaxed like a soulless fool made Lu Jingyan’s toes curl up in embarrassnt.

As he watched Lu Jingyan enter the elevator, Sheng Xian was about to close the door when he received a call from Zhuang Chen.

He slid the screen to answer, activating the speakerphone in the process.

Before he could speak, a voice ca from the phone, “Holy shit, you answered?”

Then ca Zhuang Chen’s long list of complaints, “Big brother, could you please check the ti? You set the appointnt for ten o’clock in the morning, and now it’s almost six in the evening. Where the hell are you?”

“Do you know I’ve been waiting for you in this crappy clinic, I’ve had two takeouts alone and was about to die of boredom.”

“I called you at noon, and you didn’t answer. Did you pull a disappearing act or what?”

Seeing that Zhuang Chen had paused and stopped talking, Sheng Xian waited two seconds before saying, “I’m on my way now.”

“No need!” Zhuang Chen angrily hung up the phone.

Sheng Xian listened to the “beep beep beep” of the busy signal from the phone and was about to redial when soone banged on the door several tis.

Sheng Xian turned, opened the door.

Zhuang Chen dropped his bag on the shoe cabinet and demanded, “Give

so slippers!”

The slippers that Lu Jingyan had just changed out of were right beside the shoe cabinet.

Zhuang Chen picked them up to wear.

Sheng Xian instinctively exclaid, “Put them down!”

Frightened, Zhuang Chen’s hand trembled, and he dropped the slippers he was holding onto the floor.

Three seconds later, he cursed, “Sheng Xian, what do you an? I was worried sothing happened to you because you didn’t co to see , so I ran over here, and you won’t even let

wear slippers?”

Sheng Xian didn’t say anything, feeling there was sothing wrong with his own intervention.

“If you won’t let

wear them, I’ll just wear them anyway,” Zhuang Chen said as he picked up the slippers again.

Without a second thought, Sheng Xian bent down and snatched the slipper Zhuang Chen was holding.

Zhuang Chen slowly lifted his head, “I… what the fuck?”

Sheng Xian stared at the stolen slipper for two seconds, then took off his own slippers and kicked them toward Zhuang Chen, “Wear this pair.”

Zhuang Chen looked at the slippers by his feet, “Is there any difference between these two pairs of slippers? What, are the ones you took off from your feet any fresher?”

Ignoring him, Sheng Xian stepped into the slippers that Lu Jingyan had changed out of and went inside the house.

Sheng Xian brewed two cups of black tea and brought them out to find Zhuang Chen sprawled on the couch in the living room, making himself at ho and scrutinizing the room.

When he saw Sheng Xian approaching, Zhuang Chen said, “Forgive

for being blunt, Asheng, but you suddenly seem off.”

Zhuang Chen was sitting on the long couch, and as Sheng Xian bent over to place the cup of tea in front of him, he kept his own cup and sat down far away in a single-seat couch.

“Asheng, I really think you’re not yourself,” Zhuang Chen took a sip of black tea and began once again to survey the room, “It just feels different from the last ti I was here.”

Sheng Xian drooped his eyelids, ignoring him.

Zhuang Chen’s eyes swept from the ceiling to the balcony, and then from the balcony to the coffee table, finally settling on the sofa he was sitting on.

His keen eyes spotted a strand of hair on the sofa, “Did a woman co over to your place?”

Sheng Xian was about to deny it, when Zhuang Chen reached out with two fingers, plucked the strand of hair from the sofa, and sized it up, “Long hair, slightly curly, un-dyed, nice texture— you can tell she’s a ticulous person.”

Sheng Xian: “…”

He suddenly felt that Zhuang Chen should not be studying psychology.

Criminal investigation seed more up his alley.

“No wonder you ignored

all day; turns out you brought a woman ho,” Zhuang Chen imdiately zeroed in on the key point, “Did she stay overnight?”

Sheng Xian took a sip of black tea, “What are you here for?”

Zhuang Chen looked at the strand of hair, “To treat you.”

Sheng Xian: “Then let’s stick to that.”

“Alright,” Zhuang Chen held onto the strand of hair, bringing it in front of Sheng Xian, and gently shook it, “Patient, may I ask if you felt any discomfort during the entire process of bringing ho the owner of this hair?”

Sheng Xian: “…”

Zhuang Chen was smug, “I’m working here, you can’t just not cooperate with .”

Aside from her touching his fingers last night, causing him to reflexively withdraw a little, he had felt pretty normal at other tis.

Sheng Xian rubbed his slightly aching head, “No.”

“Did you have any intimate contact?”

Seeing the gossip-hungry gleam in Zhuang Chen’s eyes, Sheng Xian forcibly replied, “No.”

“Not even a little intimate contact? Not even a touch?”

Sheng Xian was about to say no when Zhuang Chen, as if reading his mind, said, “Tell the truth, alright? Hiding things from

will affect the treatnt outcos.”

Sheng Xian: “…”

Zhuang Chen: “It seems there was. How did you touch? Where? On the bed?”

Sheng Xian looked at Zhuang Chen without saying a word.

“Alright, I admit that question was over the line. So tell , when you touched the girl, did you feel uncomfortable?”

Aside from her touching his fingers last night, causing him to reflexively pull away a little, he had been fairly normal at other tis.

“No,” Sheng Xian paused, then decided to tell him about avoiding her last night.

“After you pulled away, did you feel that intense dislike, disdain, or disgust as before?”

“No.”

“How about a mild dislike, disdain, or disgust?”

“No.”

“Then a slight discomfort?”

Sheng Xian couldn’t quite articulate how he felt at that mont and remained silent for a while, “It was fine, I suppose.”

“Damn, I’m starting to think that girl is more suited to treat you than I am.”

Sheng Xian looked up at Zhuang Chen.

“Seriously, you could try getting in touch with that girl more, just don’t rush it, to avoid a backlash. Take it slow with her, it’s called desensitization therapy in dical terms.”

Zhuang Chen was genuinely curious about that girl, “Is this the sa girl you ntioned before, the one who made you co to see

for treatnt?”

Sheng Xian didn’t feel like arguing with Zhuang Chen and gave him a look, “Mrs. Chen ca to see

today.”

Zhuang Chen beca anxious instantly, “What did she want? Did she upset you? Damn it, I really don’t want all my efforts to have been in vain!”

From what he knew about Sheng Xian, Zhuang Chen believed that Sheng Xian’s developnt of a sexual monogamous personality disorder was inextricably linked to his original family issues.

Compared to Zhuang Chen’s anxiety, Sheng Xian seed quite calm, “It was okay.”

Actually, it wasn’t okay at first, it was terrible.

But then he saw her, and sohow felt there was nothing to be irritable about anymore.

“It was okay?” Zhuang Chen was sowhat incredulous, “Are you sure? Oh God, who was with you at the ti? Was her hair there?”

Sheng Xian “hmm”ed a response, and seeing that Zhuang Chen was still holding the strand of hair, he reached out and pulled it away.

Zhuang Chen stared blankly at his empty fingertips for a mont, then his gaze fell to the slippers he was stepping on, “So, the reason you didn’t let

wear the slippers under your feet just now was that she had worn them?”

“I’m now full of curiosity about her; you should bring her out soti for

to have a look. I just want to know who she is, who’s so incredible she could change you like this!”

Zhuang Chen didn’t wait for Sheng Xian to speak and took the liberty of proposing, “In a couple of days, aren’t we having a class reunion? Bring her along then, okay?”

“Not bringing her,” Sheng Xian refused flatly, “Afraid she’d be too beautiful and kill you.”

PS: Seriously, that was a struggle to write haha, but finally, I’m very pleased with it; this chapter is a long one, and the next one will be too~
