Chapter 9: Chapter 9 Take
Ho
Lu Jingyan got stuck for two seconds, glanced at the half-finished coffee in front of Sheng Xian, thought for a mont, then picked up Sheng Xian’s cup and took a sip, “…an indirect kiss with soone not close.”
Sheng Xian: “…”
Bo Mu: “…”
“Don’t believe ? I have evidence.” Lu Jingyan opened her bag, pulled out several red bills, and flaunted them towards Bo Mu, “See this, one, two, three, four…”
Sheng Xian got a bit of a headache from this kindergarten behavior, lifted his hand to rub his brow, and interrupted her, “Do you need sothing?”
Lu Jingyan stubbornly finished the last word “five” before replying, “What about you? Do you need sothing?”
Sheng Xian nodded: “Yes.”
“What is it?” Lu Jingyan glanced at Bo Mu, “A date with her?”
Sheng Xian didn’t feel like answering her bizarre question.
Lu Jingyan glared at Sheng Xian: “Do you like soone like her?”
“Do you like soone like her?”
Watching the little girl’s expression that said “I won’t give up until I get an answer,” always on the verge of exploding, Sheng Xian went silent for a few seconds, then compromised: “No.”
Lu Jingyan thought about it for a while but couldn’t figure out what Sheng Xian’s “no” ant.
Was it that he didn’t like soone like Bo Mu, or…
Sheng Xian, as if he had read her thoughts, replied in a sowhat faint voice, “It’s not a date. It’s work.”
Only after Sheng Xian said this did Lu Jingyan realize there were several docunts scattered on the table.
Although she hadn’t looked closely, she still caught a few words.
It seed to be sothing about a renewal contract.
It looked like he was indeed busy with work.
One of the things n hate most is their girlfriend making a fuss while they’re working.
Of course, Lu Jingyan wouldn’t be so foolish as to step on that landmine. She slowly nodded, picked up her bag, and got up: “Then you guys keep busy, I’ll wait outside.”
Fearing that Sheng Xian hadn’t grasped her words, she added, “Wait for you.”
Lu Jingyan ca in a tempest, left obedient and quiet.
In order to show her maturity, she even graciously closed the door for them.
…
Bo Mu’s agent contract was about to expire, and they were discussing a new one. The contract terms were nurous to say the least, and also full of hidden pitfalls. After going through them one by one, it was already past eleven at night.
While Bo Mu was organizing the docunts, she glanced at Sheng Xian several tis, finally unable to hold back, “How do you know her?”
Sheng Xian took two seconds to realize she ant Lu Jingyan: “Chen Kai’s friend.”
Bo Mu gave an “Oh” and fell silent.
She gathered her things, and before getting up, after thinking for a mont said, “I knew her when I was in junior high school. She wasn’t particularly popular and even stole a girl’s boyfriend…”
“Have you got everything?” Sheng Xian lifted his eyelids, his tone indifferent.
Bo Mu opened her mouth, and after a second, dryly said, “…got everything.”
Sheng Xian didn’t say a word and picked up his coat to leave.
The cafe hall had closed, with only two or three staff mbers still cleaning up.
Sheng Xian took out his wallet, “How much do I owe?”
A staff mber who was wiping a table smiled and said, “Soone has already paid for you.”
Sheng Xian paused for a mont.
The staff mber then pointed to a spot by the window, “That lady paid for you.”
Sheng Xian followed where the staff mber pointed.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling window was the dazzling night view of the bustling city.
On the black table lay a white bag.
Beside the bag, a person was lying down, black hair spilling over the shoulders.
Bo Mu was a bit surprised, “Why hasn’t she left yet?”
Sheng Xian quietly observed the person by the window.
The staff mber, thinking Bo Mu was speaking to her, said, “She ntioned she had an arrangent to wait for this gentleman, so we didn’t really feel good about asking her to leave.”
Bo Mu looked at Sheng Xian.
Sheng Xian looked remarkably unexpressive.
Just as she thought to call out to him, he suddenly said, “Miss Bo, you go ahead.”
Bo Mu hesitated, “Alright, then we will contact each other later.”
Sheng Xian gave a slight nod and remained silent.
After Bo Mu had left for a while, he finally walked towards the window.
…
Lu Jingyan just wanted to lie down for a while but ended up falling asleep.
In a daze, she felt sothing tapping her shoulder; it annoyed her, so she turned her head away, and then that sothing tapped on her shoulder even harder, waking her up.
When she first opened her eyes, she was a bit dazed. Only when she felt the weight on her shoulder did she realize she was being woken up by soone.
Still half asleep, which was when she was at her grumpiest after waking up, she snapped her head up, “Motherfuc…”
Before she could finish, Sheng Xian’s expressionless face ca into view.
She paused as if hitting the pause button and went silent instantly.
Her mouth agape, she stared blankly at him for three seconds, then smiled, “Brother, are you done with work?”
Sheng Xian was so taken aback by her swift change in deanor that he was speechless: “…”
Lu Jingyan rubbed her eyes and slowly straightened up.
She was wearing long sleeves. With her face pressed against her arm, several creases from the clothing were imprinted on her skin, and her eyelids were crumpled from rubbing. She looked inexplicably silly, completely void of the usual sharp and pronounced beauty.
Lu Jingyan turned her head around to look at the cafe and didn’t find Bo Mu’s figure, “That woman left?”
Sheng Xian: “Yeah.”
Lu Jingyan’s eyes curved into a smile, bright and shining: “So now it’s just the two of us?”
Sheng Xian didn’t know why she was so pleased, and didn’t respond.
Lu Jingyan picked up her bag and stood up, “Take
ho.”
