Aunt Sun’s daughter pursed her lips, “My mother told

Sheng Xian gave a slight nod, “I’ll do my best.”
“Thank you, Professor Sheng.” Stopping for a mont, Aunt Sun’s daughter turned to Lu Jingyan, “And thank you too.”
Lu Jingyan responded with a nonchalant “Mhm,” turning her head away without any particular emotion.
Her deanor was quite stiff, as if she was not accustod to being thanked like this.
It was getting late, and Aunt Sun’s daughter said goodbye to both Sheng Xian and Lu Jingyan.
Lu Jingyan didn’t seem to hear and didn’t react at all.
Sheng Xian replied with a “Goodbye,” got out of the car with Aunt Sun’s daughter, and watched her enter the alleyway before walking back around to the driver’s side and getting back into the car.
Sheng Xian asked, “Going ho?”
Lu Jingyan “Mhm,” responded and put on her seatbelt.
Sheng Xian didn’t play any music, so the car was very quiet.
The usually talkative Lu Jingyan appeared listless and stared blankly out the window at the night scene.
Sheng Xian turned to look at her several tis and couldn’t help asking, “What are you thinking about?”
“Huh?” Lu Jingyan glanced at Sheng Xian, then “Huh?” again and refocused her gaze outside, “I thought you would scold .”
“Hmm?”
“About what I said to Aunt Sun’s daughter.”
At that mont, she was perhaps a bit angry or maybe a bit jealous.
She felt that Aunt Sun’s daughter didn’t appreciate her good fortune.
But it was more about her personality; she was no longer who she used to be and could no longer be warm to everyone.
Lu Jingyan didn’t know how else to describe it, so she just added, “Anyway, those words weren’t very nice.”
Sheng Xian uttered a “Hmm” in a neutral tone, seemingly in agreent, “They weren’t very nice.”
Lu Jingyan glared at Sheng Xian.
She felt that she was quite domineering in front of Sheng Xian, she could feel bad about herself, but she wouldn’t allow Sheng Xian to feel the sa.

“However,” Sheng Xian said.
Lu Jingyan lifted her eyelids.
She hadn’t seen Sheng Xian’s face yet when she saw the sleeve of Sheng Xian brush past her eyes, then she felt a gentle pat on the top of her head twice.

Why did Professor Sheng’s tone sound like he was praising a primary school student?
It even carried a sense of encouragent, as if she hadn’t been good before but had finally done sothing worthwhile.
Though resentful, she seed to take so comfort in it.
Lu Jingyan cursed herself for lacking backbone and silently turned to look out the window. She propped her chin up and counted the trees receding one by one for a while before suddenly stopping. After a long pause, she said softly, “That student Sun, her dad and mom love her a lot, right?”
Sheng Xian gazed straight ahead at the road: “Hmm.”
Lu Jingyan stretched out a finger and gently traced the car window: “Is it that all parents in this world love their children very much?”
Sheng Xian did not speak, his expression as he looked ahead was very faint.
Lu Jingyan: “What about you?”
“…” Sheng Xian hesitated for a mont, “Hmm?”
Lu Jingyan: “Your dad and mom, do they love you very much too?”
Sheng Xian didn’t speak.
They were just approaching a red light, and he stepped on the brake, picked up his cellphone and looked at a text ssage that had just co in.

It was from Mrs. Chen.
Lu Jingyan was asking about one of the two people in the ssage.
Sheng Xian replied with a normal expression, pressing on his phone and sent back a “Okay.” Then he looked at Lu Jingyan beside him: “What about you?”
“?” Lu Jingyan laughed, leaning her head against the car window, bending her brows and eyes: “My parents, of course, they love . You have no idea, every ti they see , they give
money, so much money. From a very young age, the one thing I was never short of was money.”
Lu Jingyan sighed, then spoke with feigned regret: “The only pity is, my dad and mom have never once called
by my nickna. Do you know what my nickna is? It’s actually neither ‘Yanyan’ nor ‘Xiaoyan.’ Those are silly nas Chen Kai and Song Xian made up. My nickna is ‘Ayan.’
She seed quite relaxed when talking about these things, as if they were all trivial matters. But Sheng Xian felt her unhappiness.
Sheng Xian gripped the steering wheel, his Adam’s apple moved slightly, he remained silent.
The car soon drove into the garage, Lu Jingyan cut off her sentence abruptly and began to pack up ahead of ti. As soon as the car stopped, she imdiately pushed the car door open.
Clutching her clothes and bag, she slid out of the car and waved to Sheng Xian with a smile as he followed her out: “See you, Big Brother.”
“Hmm, see you.” Sheng Xian stood beside the car without moving, staring straight at her.
Lu Jingyan blinked twice in bewildernt and was about to smile and ask why he was staring at her like that.
Then she heard Sheng Xian say: “Ayan.”
