He took a two-second look, crouched down, picked up her scattered shoelace, wiped off the dirt with his sleeve, and tied a beautiful bow for her.

Sheng Xian glanced at the villa behind her. It was pitch-dark, as if the lights were off, uncertain whether it was a real or fake power outage. He looked into her eyes, remained silent for a mont, and asked, “Did you co out here just to ask
this?”
“Ah, yes.” Lu Jingyan nodded: “Just to ask you this.”
To make it sound believable, Lu Jingyan thought for a mont, then added: “I don’t like it when there’s not a single light. I can’t sleep without electricity.”
Suddenly, Sheng Xian just looked at her and said nothing.
Lu Jingyan, puzzled, t his gaze for a while and noticed sothing off in his eyes, as if he was trying to see past her feigned composure into her heart.
Lu Jingyan felt she should appear more composed; after all, Sheng Xian couldn’t read minds.
But after a standoff with him, she still conceded defeat.
She blinked her eyes and decided to throw the question back at him: “You… you don’t know how to pay the electric bill, do you?”
Sheng Xian: “…”
“What about fixing toilets?”
Seeing that Sheng Xian still didn’t seem to get her point, she clicked her tongue in disappointnt and said: “Turns out Professor Sheng can’t do everything—”

They were off duty.
At this ti of night, even if soone was on call, it would only be security personnel.
