Chapter 113: Chapter 109: Which one do you like?
Lu Jingyan: “…”
Sheng Xian: “…”
Lu Jingyan couldn’t hold back and sneaked a glance at Lin Wei’s phone.
It was actually a video call.
The young man on the screen was pretty attractive, but his expression was a bit cold, his eyes and eyebrows conveyed impatience, as if he was not to be trifled with.
Before Lin Wei could speak, the young man on the phone demanded, “Address.”
Lin Wei didn’t catch on and blurted out, “What address?”
“Your current address.”
“Oh,” Lin Wei responded and suddenly, as if sothing occurred to her, her expression turned serious towards the phone screen, “Jiang Xu, what are you trying to do?”
“…”
“Are you planning to co beat up my teacher? I’m telling you, Jiang Xu, I still need to work under my teacher for another three and a half years. Could you, as a high school student, not ddle in our university affairs?”
“…F**k.” Jiang Xu took a deep breath, ground his teeth forcefully, stared at the phone screen, and tried to slow his tone down, “I’m not here to fight; I’m here to pick up my potential girlfriend.”
“…” Lin Wei paused for a mont, finally catching the main point, “How did you know I’m not at ho? Are you in Beijing? Why did you suddenly co to Beijing? Why didn’t you tell
beforehand?”
Jiang Xu slowly exhaled, “Because I wanted to give my potential girlfriend a surprise.”
“…”
“I can’t bear to have my potential girlfriend spend the New Year alone outside.”
“…”
“Can you give
the address now?”
“…”
After hanging up, Lin Wei turned to Sheng Xian, “Teacher, I need to leave due to an urgent matter.”
Sheng Xian “Mhm” with a sip of his drink, seemingly casually asked, “Boyfriend?”
Lin Wei, taken aback by Sheng Xian suddenly inquiring about her personal life, exclaid in surprise before replying, “Yes.”
Sheng Xian put down his cup, picked up the public chopsticks to fetch so food, very casually asked, “How long have you known each other?”
Lin Wei: “… Two years.”
Sheng Xian: “Not bad.”
Though she was already in university, being questioned about her romantic relationships by a teacher always made Lin Wei feel uneasy; she didn’t quite know how to respond to that “Not bad.”
Sensing her discomfort, Sheng Xian glanced over at her, “Go ahead.”
He paused, then added, “Don’t keep your boyfriend waiting.”
“Oh, okay.” Lin Wei quickly got up, hurriedly gathered her things, then to Lu Jingyan and Sheng Xian she said, “Happy New Year,” and pushed the door open, changed her shoes, and left in a hurry.
The door closed behind her, leaving only Lu Jingyan and Sheng Xian in the large room.
The two of them quietly faced each other, continuing to eat their hot pot.
After a while, Sheng Xian scooped a beef ball into her bowl saying, “Known each other for two years, they’re kind of in a child romance, aren’t they?”
Lu Jingyan lifted her eyelids and looked at Sheng Xian, thinking he was exhibiting the typical teacher’s reaction to early romance, “So, you’re opposed to early romance and strictly forbid it?”
“Not really,” Sheng Xian, eyes lowered, casually added more food to the pot, said, “I only strictly forbid teacher-student relationships.”
Whether it was early romance or teacher-student romance, Lu Jingyan didn’t have much of an opinion either way.
As long as they were adults, in a normal, healthy relationship, she believed it should be respected.
Lu Jingyan was just about to retort Sheng Xian when she suddenly paused.
He hadn’t spent much ti talking to Lin Wei all night, but right before Lin Wei left, he had asked so many questions about her boyfriend.
Now he was telling her that he firmly opposed teacher-student relationships.
A few seconds later, Lu Jingyan looked up at Sheng Xian.
His head was down as he ate bamboo shoots, his expression light, seemingly just making casual conversation with her.
But she felt that he only appeared casual.
Lu Jingyan inadvertently spoke up, “Are you—”
Sheng Xian looked up and t her eyes, and Lu Jingyan abruptly held back the rest of his words.
She was certain that his actions tonight were ant to clarify matters.
But she had no evidence.
Besides, if he was going through such lengths to clear his na indirectly, she ought to give him so face.
Lu Jingyan’s voice paused for a few seconds, then he forcefully changed his next words, “—heard about what happened between
and Yang Xu?”
Sheng Xian hadn’t expected him to suddenly bring up Yang Xu and hesitated, then lightly responded with an “Mhm.”
Lu Jingyan had initially intended to awkwardly shift the topic, but hadn’t expected it to shift to this matter.
She had co to him the day before yesterday specifically to talk about this issue, and now that it was brought up, she didn’t beat around the bush and directly said, “eting him wasn’t really a matchmaking session. A matchmaking requires mutual willingness, and except for the first ti I went with the intention to complete a task, the subsequent etings were all based on deception.”
“Although he is your brother, I am not clear about your relationship with him, but I still want to be honest with you, I am not interested in soone like him.”
“I even want to hit him every ti I see him.”
Sheng Xian didn’t say a word.
Lu Jingyan secretly glanced at Sheng Xian, slightly unable to fathom his thoughts at the mont.
Had she been too harsh with her words? Although both of Sheng Xian’s parents had remarried and he wasn’t close to that side of the family, Yang Xu still shared half of his blood, and they were technically relatives.
Lu Jingyan pinched her chopsticks, thinking whether she should say sothing more to salvage the harsh words she had just spoken.
To like soone, must she be so humble, weighing each word for fear of displeasing the other?
Lu Jingyan silently sighed, lifting her head, ready to speak.
Sitting opposite her, Sheng Xian suddenly said, “Not close, haven’t t many tis, hardly spoken, can’t really call him a brother.”
Sheng Xian frowned slightly, “…and I don’t really want this brother either.”
Lu Jingyan watched him with a look of disdain, silent for a second, thinking thankfully he wasn’t the deciding factor, for if he had the authority, he probably would have discarded this brother like trash.
“I heard from Chen Kai that you hit Yang Xu at Dynasty?”
“Mhm.”
Though Chen Kai had already told her once, Lu Jingyan couldn’t help but ask, “…was it because of ?”
“Mhm.”
Perhaps Sheng Xian’s confirmation gave Lu Jingyan so courage, and she pushed her advantage by asking, “Chen Kai also told , because of
you—”
Lu Jingyan rembered Sheng Xian’s mother’s poor attitude when she ca to see him, and after her departure, Sheng Xian’s emotions were quite a ss. She carefully chose her words, asking, “—also had a fight?”
“Mhm.”
Before Lu Jingyan could ask further, Sheng Xian slightly lifted his eyelid, “What type do you like?”
His shift in topic was so abrupt that Lu Jingyan was montarily confused and after a couple of seconds, blinked, “Huh? What type?”
Sheng Xian repeated in more detail, “You don’t like soone like Yang Xu, so what type of person do you like?”
He paused for a few seconds, put down his chopsticks, leaned back, and looked like he was listening intently, “I hope you can be more specific.”
PS: I hope you can be more specific, so I can learn.
