Chapter 107: Chapter 104 Like, Like a Lot

The traffic bustled around her, horns blaring incessantly.

Lu Jingyan hid in the shadows, watching Sheng Xian intently… and the girl beside him.

The two seed very familiar with each other, the girl particularly well-behaved in his presence, turning her head to flash him a smile as she spoke.

Sheng Xian, usually so cold and aloof, appeared remarkably patient with her, responding to every word she said, even if it was just a slight nod without a word.

Lu Jingyan had seen Sheng Xian with other won before.

The first night she t him, she watched from the roadside as he coldly brought a woman to tears.

He was relatively close with Bo Mu, but even in front of her, he had that frosty countenance that could freeze soone to death.

This was the first ti she had seen him being so… tender with another girl.

Lu Jingyan wasn’t sure if “tender” was the right word, but her instinct told her that this girl was at least special to Sheng Xian.

She watched the two of them steadily, her mind in disarray, filled with all kinds of questions.

What was their relationship? What private matters were they discussing? Did this count as a date?

That girl ca out of his residential area, had she been to his ho? Did she, like her, know the code to his place?

If she just took a step to the side and called out “Sheng Xian”, they would see her, and she would learn the truth about their relationship—all the questions in her head would be answered.

But she couldn’t take that step; she even retreated half a step backward.

She had stayed at his place for two nights, and she had been to one of his classmate gatherings, although she had been tricked by Zhuang Chen into attending, but at least he didn’t pretend not to know her and didn’t ask her to leave.

He took her to court to see him argue a case, introduced her to his colleagues, and his assistant talked at length about him to her.

She thought she knew him well, but now it seed that wasn’t quite the case.

It was not Chen Kai who told her that Yang Xu was his younger half-brother, nor did she know the woman who ca to his house that day and upset him was his mother.

The exact reason why he suddenly changed that night at the classmates gathering remained unknown to her.

He was so outstanding. At a classmate gathering, he would encounter won who had liked him for many years; casual late-night als could lead to encounters with people swooping in to ask for his phone number. He had too many options, and among those options, did any reflect his desires?

The very first ti they t, she asked him for the Wi-Fi password for his mobile hotspot, and he said it was “your birthday”.

Just three simple words made her feel like she was one of his many secret admirers.

There were too many people who liked her, too many pursued her relentlessly, which fostered a sense of entitlent to that confidence.

So much so that later, when she flirted with him openly and covertly, yet he remained unmoved, she doubted his sexual orientation before she doubted her own allure.

But now, she was suddenly uncertain; was he truly one of her secret admirers?

For so reason, Lu Jingyan suddenly felt panicked.

The two people across the street had walked far away, but she stood rooted to the spot, as if invisibly bound by ropes, unable to move.

She rarely indulged in such wild speculation, but right then her mind was too active, past monts flashing clearly through her mind, and she thought of Gao Yin asking her, “Do you like Sheng Xian?”

Lu Jingyan was stunned by that question for two seconds, as a hidden mine deep in her brain suddenly exploded.

The blast left a blank in her vision, and her thoughts ca to a standstill.

She stood quietly, as if watching the traffic on the street, yet also as if watching scenes conjured up by her imagination.

Ti passed, so long it felt like an entire century, before her fingertips twitched and her eyelashes trembled as she returned to her senses.

The winter wind howled past her ears, and she faintly heard soone asking her, “Do you like Sheng Xian?”

Then she heard the voice from the bottom of her heart: “I do.”

– Do you like Sheng Xian?

– I do.

– A lot.
