Chapter 1539: Chapter 1539: Difficult to Choose Chapter 1539: Chapter 1539: Difficult to Choose “If it weren’t for resisting the North Plain, if it weren’t for the Southern Province, with just you few…” The Deputy Sect Master sneered bitterly.

Ethan Smith’s face darkened considerably.

He hadn’t expected this Deputy Sect Master to be a person of such righteousness!

“Is everything you said true?” Ethan Smith asked, squinting his eyes.

The Deputy Sect Master, however, was not in the mood to explain further – he closed his eyes, not uttering a single word.

Ethan Smith’s face grimaced even more as Kingsley Kelley approached.

“The Deputy Sect Master’s words are all true.” Kingsley Kelley clarified as he walked.

Ethan Smith’s face changed dramatically. He hastily walked towards Kingsley and asked, “Did he really… did he really weaken the Cloud Sect for the sake of the North Plain?”

Kingsley sighed deeply and said slowly, “When the North Plain massively invaded the Southern Province, countless people were hard. The Deputy Sect Master went against the majority opinion and insisted on deploying people to major cities to protect them, giving Eternal the opportunity.”

“And… the Deputy Sect Master was so determined to follow his proposal that he even imprisoned the First Elder, who was against it. Master, in my opinion, the Deputy Sect Master did nothing wrong.”

At that mont, Ethan Smith felt as though his whole worldview was collapsing.

He stepped back a few paces, looking deathly pale!

“How could this be…” Ethan Smith clenched his teeth.

He quickly walked up to the Deputy Sect Master and offered a supportive hand.

“Why… why didn’t you tell sooner?” Ethan Smith asked through gritted teeth.

But the Deputy Sect Master showed no interest in engaging with Ethan Smith, not uttering a word.

“Not everyone in the Cloud Sect is like the First Elder.” Kingsley Kelley managed to get out after a deep breath.

Ethan Smith fell silent.

He hadn’t expected that there could be such a righteous figure within the Cloud Sect.

Just then, he felt soone approaching from behind.

He quickly turned around to see that it was the Sect Leader himself!

“You…” Ethan Smith’s face was stricken with fear and instinctively took a step back.

“Rest assured, this is just my divine sense.” The sect leader said calmly.

Ethan Smith relaxed slightly, his face creased into a frown, “Everything that happened within the Cloud Sect… you knew?”

“Why wouldn’t I?” The sect leader said indifferently.

“Then why didn’t you intervene?” Ethan Smith was increasingly bewildered.

The sect leader chuckled and replied, “I have my difficulties.”

“Difficulties? For you, isn’t the Cloud Sect more important than anything else?” Ethan Smith asked, his face cold.

The sect leader calmly responded, “While the Cloud Sect is indeed crucial, there are things in this world more important than it.”

At that mont, Ethan Smith only felt confused.

How could the Cloud Sect have changed so drastically in the blink of an eye?

Could it be that his previous perception of the Cloud Sect was a misunderstanding?

“Shall we discuss this indoors?” The sect leader gestured towards a house.

Ethan Smith went silent for a while, his confusion deepening.

The outside world was embroiled in intense battles, yet the sect leader managed to find so respite. Ethan couldn’t understand this.

After a mont of contemplation, he nodded, “Alright.”

Then, Ethan Smith followed the sect leader into a room and sat down quietly.

The sect leader glanced at Ethan and calmly said, “How about ending this war between you and the Cloud Sect?”

Ethan’s brows furrowed tightly, every bit of resolve he had seed to crumble.

“The Cloud Sect killed my friend, pursued for so long, and you want to cease hostilities just like that? I disagree.” Ethan retorted coldly.

As if he had anticipated Ethan’s response, the sect leader wasn’t surprised, but chuckled, “Then let’s call it a temporary truce. At the very least, we should present a united front now.”

“A united front?” Ethan Smith sneered.

To Ethan, he didn’t have deep feelings for the Southern Province, so where could there be a united front?

If it weren’t for the extrely brutal nature of the people of the North Plain, Ethan wouldn’t have even considered them a foe.

“That’s easier said than done. Why didn’t you leave the mountain then?” Ethan Smith scoffed.

The sect leader faintly smiled as he took a look outside, then said, “You see the Cloud Sect in such a critical situation. Have you seen take action?”

“So, I don’t understand. I killed your son, and you tolerated it for the sake of the Cloud Sect, but why don’t you take action now?” Ethan Smith asked, frowning heavily.

Perhaps he didn’t want to answer this question, or maybe there was sothing he couldn’t say. The sect leader rely sighed lightly.

“Do you truly want to get entangled with the likes of Eternal? As the Deputy Sect Master said, while the Cloud Sect is resisting the North Plain, you are colluding with them.” The sect leader sighed.

“I guess you don’t want to bear the stigma.”

Ethan Smith fell silent.

He had always looked down on Eternal, yet he had been waiting for an opportunity.

However, after hearing the Deputy Sect Master and the sect leader, Ethan was sowhat at a loss.

“Do you truly believe that Eternal is willing to collaborate with you? They are rely using you.” The sect leader sighed.

“And who’s to say I’m not using them as well.” Ethan shook his head.

The sect leader chuckled, “There are tis when we can’t judge right from wrong. It’s up to the future generations to decide. If you insist on proceeding, I have no further comnts, but I believe you will regret today’s decision.”

Ethan’s face darkened, and at this mont, he was in doubt.

Compared to Eternal, the Cloud Sect seed more sincere.

More importantly, the Cloud Sect was uniquely steadfast in resisting the North Plain and even protecting the citizens in various major cities.

This was not sothing a person like Eternal could ever do.

“Alright, that’s all I have to say.” At that mont, the sect leader suddenly stood up.

“My ti is brief. The rest is up to you.”/p>

Having left these words, his figure started to beco blurry.

Ethan fell into silence.

Until the sect leader completely disappeared, Ethan exhaled slightly.

He slowly got up, left the room, and walked over to the Deputy Sect Master.

“Where is the First Elder?” Ethan bent down to ask.

The Deputy Sect Master answered grumpily: “How would I know!”

Ethan didn’t speak. His ultimate goal was to kill the First Elder.

No matter who pleaded with him, the First Elder had to die.

At that mont, the Cloud Sect was retreating. In the blink of an eye, they had reached where Ethan and others were.

Eternal and Malvin Larson stood high in the sky, coldly looking down at everyone.

“Ethan Smith, quickly kill these people!” Eternal shouted from above.

Ethan, however, remained silent, standing by the Deputy Sect Master’s side without uttering a word.

Malvin Larson, standing beside Eternal, said coldly, “Perhaps he doesn’t want to carry the stigma. Let do it…”

As he finished talking, Malvin rushed towards the Deputy Sect Master!

He wielded a black blade, aiming straight for the Deputy Sect Master’s forehead!

The Deputy Sect Master had long lost his ability to fight. This was a fatal blow!

But at that mont, Ethan Smith suddenly stretched out his hand and grabbed Malvin’s wrist.
