Chapter 464: 462 Love Triangle Showdown, soone is angry enough to want to kill Chapter 464: 462 Love Triangle Showdown, soone is angry enough to want to kill In the private room, everyone gathered together, yet the atmosphere was inexplicably eerie.

Cressida Jones felt it especially, as she could clearly feel everyone’s gaze drifting around, ultimately fixing on her.

There had been an incident just before, and with Tim Payne’s public confession, it seed that the Payne Family mbers looked at her with unusual eyes.

Surprise, inquiry, scrutiny…

It made her inexplicably anxious.

Her family background was vastly different from Tim Payne’s, not to ntion the ss left by the Jones Family and a sick grandmother, plus the fact that Payne Corps’ lawyers had been involved all along in her sches against her biological father and stepmother and stepsister, surely the Payne Family mbers knew all about it.

She was not the simple ingenue, likely far from what the Payne Family would seek in a daughter-in-law.

“…I heard that you’ve been on long-term dication, are there any dietary restrictions?” Old Mrs. Payne asked with a smile, looking towards the grandmother.

“I can’t eat spicy food.”

“Tim, send soone to tell the kitchen to be mindful of this,” the Old Lady said to her grandson, then glanced at the teapot, signaling him to be smart and attentive.

Tim Payne was stunned for a few seconds by Finn Hale’s ntion of acknowledging kinship.

His grandmother reminded him before he got up, serving tea and water.

“I can do it myself, no need to be so polite,” the grandmother, who had just learned of Tim Payne’s affection for her granddaughter, was both shocked and elated but also worried that the Payne Family mbers might not approve, felt uneasy.

“Let the youngster busy himself; we’ll chat,” Julia Yates said with a smile.

Speaking of which, she glanced at her daughter.

Zoe Payne got the hint and imdiately pulled Cressida Jones to sit next to herself and Sussie Lopez; being of the sa age, they had common topics and also helped her avoid feeling too nervous.

It was the first eting between Sussie Lopez and her, and after introducing themselves, the three chatted casually.

But Cressida Jones’s mood remained uneasy.

Julia Yates kicked her brother under the table.

Her expression signaled:

Restrain, stay calm, keep smiling!

“Big sister, I want to go out for so air,” Martin Yates, seeing his damn nephew, wished he could kick him a couple of tis.

Julia Yates leaned close to him and whispered low, “Didn’t you see that girl is very nervous? It was you who invited her here; what would she think if you left?”

“But I…”

“Give a smile.”

Martin Yates only felt a buzzing pain in his head.

He was a loner and honest, never able to learn the art of putting on a facade.

Acting and cooperating in such a play was as difficult as reaching the sky for him.

“Although our statuses are different, after all the twists and turns, she’s still a part of our family. Whether or not she and Tim end up together doesn’t stop you from loving her like a daughter and treating her like a family from her maternal side,” Julia Yates knew her brother was stubborn and whispered soothingly.

“When we get ho tonight, I’ll definitely teach that stinking kid a lesson.”

“But this also proves fully; your judgent is really good. This girl must be really special for both you and Tim to take a liking to her.”

The critical point was Mario Payne quietly interjected:

“Tim openly admitted his liking for her today; given her attitude towards the Jeans Family, regardless of her and Tim’s outco, if you wish to consider her as your goddaughter, she might not agree.”

To avoid being talked about, with Cressida Jones’s character, she would likely distance herself, at most treating him as an ordinary custor and elder.

So,

the best way to keep her would be:

To make her get together with his own nephew.

This thought exploded in Martin Yates’s head, and at that mont, Tim Payne, holding a teapot, just walked up to him, “Uncle, have so tea.”

He stayed silent but gave his nephew a sharp look.

His gaze was like a blade, sizing him up, as if contemplating where to start in order to vent his anger.

“I suddenly rember, it’s been a long ti since we had a heart-to-heart talk,” Martin Yates murmured, caressing the teacup, his voice low.

Tim Payne gave a forced smile.

Heart-to-heart talk?

From childhood, had they ever had a heart-to-heart?

Martin Yates was the type who would act rather than speak, especially when younger, his temper even fiercer. Whenever alone with his nephew, saying just a half sentence more would earn him complaints of being too talkative.

Could it be that Uncle was planning to secretly harm him?

“Uncle, it’s ti for tea, or else it will get cold,” Tim Payne deflected the conversation.

Watching Martin Yates drink more than half a cup of tea, he remarked emotional:

“The tea isn’t cold, but…”

“My heart,”

“Is cold.”

Tim Payne was astonished.

Julia Yates, being close and his elder sister, couldn’t hold back and burst into laughter with a “pfft.”

This made Martin Yates’s face darken, “Sister.”

“Sorry, I just couldn’t hold it in,” Julia Yates tried to stifle her laughter and reminded her brother, “No matter what, you have to keep smiling. You can deal with Tim however you want afterward.”

But now, Cressida Jones and her grandmother were present; it would be improper to make them feel awkward.

Martin Yates understood the rationale.

Strive, restrain!

When his gaze t Cressida Jones and he gave her a quick smile, it slightly reassured her.

Seeing this, other guests felt suspicious.

They felt the atmosphere was odd but couldn’t quite pinpoint why.

Only Michale Shaw was still concerned about Cressida Jones’s exemption from the bill tonight, pressing William Hale murmuring, “Hey Hale, the manager said earlier, it was the young master who ordered, giving Miss Jones a lifeti exemption, does that an that family’s young master is here?”

“What are you planning now?”

“Business dealings, what else?”

“Do you think of anything other than making money?”

Hearing this, Michale Shaw beca anxious, “Being passive about making money is brain sickness. I heard their family is low-key but extrely wealthy, possibly richer than the Shea Family.”

“And then?”

“Have you seen them? Do you know these people?”

William Hale shook his head.

“I was going to say, if you know them, can you introduce ?” Michale Shaw clicked his tongue, “I heard the young master is around twenty-five or twenty-six, not old, should be easy to sway.”

William Hale chuckled low, “Sway? You’d better watch out not to get beaten up.”

Michale Shaw just smiled, still plotting how to make money, lanting, “I heard there’s always a beauty accompanying the young master, pity though…”

“I’m not female.”

William Hale was speechless, unable to fathom what he was thinking constantly.

The Payne Family always maintained decorum, not ntioning the evening’s events, nor probing her relationship with Tim Payne. However, feeling uneasy, Cressida Jones planned to leave after dinner but was stopped by Martin Yates.

“Uncle Yates, is there sothing else?”

“It’s New Year, I didn’t prepare a red envelope for you, this is a gift.” As he spoke, Martin Yates handed her a box.

“I cannot accept this.”

“Elder’s gift should not be declined.”

Hesitating, Cressida Jones thanked him and accepted it, prompting other Payne Family mbers to also present their prepared gifts.

This left Cressida Jones feeling both flattered and bewildered, since many younger guests were there tonight, yet she was the only one who received gifts.

“I will escort you,” Tim Payne bluntly said.

“Thank you, I drove here myself,” Cressida Jones politely declined.

With so much having happened tonight, the Payne Family mbers probably had things to discuss with Tim Payne, and she also needed ti to cool down and figure out where their relationship should head from here.
