Chapter 412: 411 has two faces, it’s a rare species Chapter 412: 411 has two faces, it’s a rare species In the car
Assistant Law was closely monitoring the situation inside the flower shop. Turning his head, he sized up his own boss. Tim Payne’s expression revealed no obvious abnormalities. He coughed twice, “Junior President Payne, what should we do?”
“What do you an what should we do?” Tim Payne raised an eyebrow.
“Do you want to rush over there and play the hero saving the beauty?” Assistant Law giggled, “Who knows, Miss Jones might just offer herself to you in gratitude.”
“Do you usually have a lot of free ti?”
“I…”
“Apparently, you’ve been watching quite a few dramas.”
Assistant Law grinned wryly:
Alright then, you are so noble,
You don’t want to cash in on your good deeds.
Let’s see if you have the guts to not get out of the car.
Assistant Law watched for a long ti, then muttered, “Why do I feel like Miss Jones still has lingering feelings for him, she seems to look at him with love still in her eyes.”
Tim Payne remained silent, simply observing quietly.
At this mont, inside the flower shop, Cressida Jones was about to close up and change clothes before her next appointnt, not expecting that Beckett Jeans would suddenly co to visit.
“Cressida, believe , Marigold was the one who seduced on purpose; it was only a mont of confusion that made get involved with her, but the person I love the most is still you,” Beckett Jeans spoke with heartfelt sincerity, “Can we get back together?”
Cressida Jones smiled bitterly, “Beckett, I also wish to stay with you forever, but…”
“Marigold is pregnant.”
“This child is yours; you got my sister pregnant, how do you expect to handle this? You should spend more ti with Marigold now, and from now on, don’t call Cressida, just call ‘sister’.”
Her expression was pained, as if she loved him deeply.
Beckett Jeans was frustrated inside.
Comparatively speaking, he indeed preferred Marigold Jones, but the one he loved the most was still himself.
Marigold had offended both the Hale Family and the Payne Family, and as a result, the Jones Family was suppressed; she made a fool of herself at the engagent party, and Beckett Jeans dared not to continue wanting her.
On second thought,
Cressida was the better choice.
At least she was well-behaved.
She was also beautiful and presentable in public.
“I knew it; you still have feelings for ,” Beckett Jeans heard the implication in her words, that she still had feelings for him, “If I handle the issue with Marigold well, can we still be together?”
Cressida Jones bowed her head slightly, “After all, you are engaged to Marigold; you should co see less in the future.”
Hearing this, Beckett Jeans’ face darkened slightly.
But then he heard her continue, “If others saw us together, it wouldn’t be good for your reputation; I don’t mind.”
Upon hearing this, Beckett Jeans’ expression softened.
Especially when compared with how Marigold embarrassed him at the engagent party, Beckett Jeans regretted even more why he had been so bewitched back then; if he had stayed with Cressida all along, none of this would have happened.
Look,
It was still Cressida who cared for him.
Everything she did, she considered him first.
After such an incident, she was still concerned about his reputation.
How had he been so blind before.
“Don’t worry, I will definitely take care of Marigold’s issue, and I won’t let you be wronged,”
Beckett Jeans put the flowers down and quickly left.
After he was gone, Cressida Jones finally retracted that pitiful appearance, her lips curling up slightly into a mocking smile, and she silently cursed in her heart:
Idiot!
Cressida was alone in the flower shop; if she confronted him head-on, given the difference in strength between n and won, she would likely be at a disadvantage.
There was no need to entangle with him.
Since Beckett Jeans thought she was hopelessly in love with him, she might as well play the part to the full extent.
It would be better to lead this trouble elsewhere, to let him entangle with Marigold.
Let these two dogs tear into each other.
Marigold Jones and her mother were tough cookies, eagerly looking forward to marrying into the Jeans Family, and now with a child, they were even less likely to let go easily. This was going to be a ss.
Assistant Law initially thought that Miss Jones breaking off her engagent with that scumbag ant there might still be a chance with Junior President Payne, but then why was she still getting entangled with the scumbag, exchanging deep gazes as if there were unresolved feelings?
He exclaid in his heart:
It’s over,
Could Miss Jones be so sort of ultimate romance fanatic?
Despite the circumstances, she still wants to be with him?
But the mont the scumbag left, she instantly changed her face, shocking Assistant Law:
How could she have two faces!
Tim Payne’s lips curved slightly, gesturing for the assistant to drive, “To the restaurant.”
—-
While waiting at the restaurant, Assistant Law couldn’t hold back, “Junior President Payne, I always thought Miss Jones was kind and harmless. How could I feel like I’ve been blind? She seems quite extraordinary.”
“And then?” Tim Payne said, sipping warm water.
“Pursuing her might not be easy. If you like her, you’re going to need to put in more effort.”
“…”
Tim Payne massaged his temples, “After the New Year, I’m thinking of getting a new assistant.”
Assistant Law panicked when he heard this, “Junior President Payne, I’ve followed you for so many years. Even if there’s no rit, there’s hard work. All these years, I’ve been diligent, never complaining, taking care of your daily life.”
Tim Payne felt an even bigger headache coming on.
With so many employees, why did he choose him to be his assistant?
During their conversation, Cressida Jones had already knocked on the private room’s door. She changed into a new outfit and applied so light makeup, “Junior President Payne, sorry to keep you waiting.”
Assistant Law greeted her and quickly excused himself.
“It’s okay, let’s order first.” Tim Payne passed the tablet nu to her.
“Do you have any dietary restrictions?”
“None.”
“Then I’ll just order so things.” Cressida Jones ordered the dishes, and had the waiter open a bottle of red wine, pouring it for him herself, “Junior President Payne, I toast to you, thank you for helping last ti.”
“You’re welco.” Tim Payne took a sip of the wine and casually said, “After the engagent party, have the Jones Family given you any trouble?”
“They’re too busy to bother with , Marigold is pregnant.”
Tim Payne was surprised inside.
He didn’t know about this.
Marigold’s situation was being handled by William Hale.
“She’s currently in the hospital for prenatal care. The Jeans Family doesn’t want her, and there’s a pile of things to deal with at the company. My father doesn’t have the mind to care about .” Cressida smiled.
Tim Payne knew she was genuine in front of him; there was no need for Cressida Jones to put on an act. It was rare for her to relax, to drink a few sips of wine and chat casually. He had not anticipated that soone from the outside, seen as lofty and aloof like Junior President Payne, wasn’t as inaccessible as the rumors suggested.
Graceful, modest, and cultured.
The young n she usually t were like Beckett Jeans, arrogant and haughty because of a bit of family money, looking down on everyone.
Yet Tim Payne, with his top-tier family background, did not carry many of those bad traits.
She couldn’t help but give him a few extra glances.
Tim Payne, who was eating, felt her gaze and looked up, their eyes eting, “Miss Jones, why are you staring at ?”
Cressida chuckled ruefully, “I just heard from Mrs. Payne today that the Payne Family plans to arrange a blind date for you?”
Tim Payne raised an eyebrow:
Was she concerned about his blind date?
“I’m just curious, what kind of girl do you like?” Cressida smiled, “This topic may be a little offensive, you can act as if I never ntioned it.”
Tim Payne simply responded softly: “I don’t know what kind I like.”
“Have you never been in a relationship?”
“Uh-huh.”
Cressida’s gaze at him suddenly beca extrely unusual.
As if she were looking at so rare species.
