Chapter 277: 276 Cousin ets Parents-in-Law, Mr. Payne’s thod Chapter 277: 276 Cousin ets Parents-in-Law, Mr. Payne’s thod The Sheas knew that Hannah Johnson had so issues to deal with their son, so they didn’t plan to et her. They wanted to just greet Mario Payne and his wife and then leave, but they heard that there was trouble in the lobby and the Payne Family mbers were all there.
When they arrived, they ran into Hannah Johnson.
“Zoe, go ahead with your things; you don’t have to accompany back to the room,” Zoe Bell said, holding onto William Hale’s arm.
Hannah pressed her lips tightly, feeling inexplicably anxious.
Three words popped into her mind:
et the parents!
When she sat down in the hotel teahouse, Mrs. Shea imdiately started to pour her tea. Hannah quickly stood up, “Mrs. Shea, let do that.”
“You look pale, sit down.”
“We don’t have so many formalities in our family.”
Hannah forced a laugh.
Tense and uneasy.
Back in Capital City, she was soone who always walked confidently. Isaac Shea had never seen her like this before and couldn’t help laughing out loud, which made Hannah kick him under the table.
Isaac wasn’t expecting it and involuntarily cried out in pain.
“Isaac, what’s wrong?” Mrs. Shea looked at her son.
Isaac? Isaac?
Hannah was stunned.
“His nickna, I liked spicy food when I was pregnant, and I always thought I was having a daughter, ready to na her ‘Sisi,’ but then…”
Mrs. Shea ntioned that, sighing and shaking her head.
“Your mother is lucky to have such a wonderful daughter.”
“You flatter ,” Hannah lowered her head to drink her tea.
Since Mrs. Shea saw Hannah, she had eyes for nobody else, not even her husband or son.
This even made Chairman Shea remind her, “Don’t keep staring at her, try to restrain yourself a bit.”
Mrs. Shea huffed lightly.
Restrain?
Absolutely couldn’t!
Isaac’s eyes inherited from his mother, so when Mrs. Shea looked at her, her eyes and brows were filled with smiles, and her gaze was completely harmless.
“Mom, dad, it’s getting late. You should head back to the city,” Isaac tried to hurry them.
“What’s the rush?” Mrs. Shea looked at Hannah and smiled, “Hannah, co to our house for a al when you’re free?”
“Sure, I’ll co over when I have the ti.”
“Don’t feel pressured. Isaac already told us, if he liked a girl, he would shalessly stick around at her place—it’s quite embarrassing.”
Isaac: “…”
Are you really my mom?
“Mrs. Shea, actually, the relationship between him and is sowhat complicated.” Hannah dared not completely disclose their issues.
“The process isn’t important, what matters is that you are together now.”
“You won’t mind that I’m older than him?”
“I’m also two years older than Isaac’s dad.”
“…”
Are Mr. and Mrs. Shea also in an older woman, younger man relationship?
Could this be hereditary?
“Our Isaac is generally good. If you don’t mind, please help keep him in check. Originally, he ca to Capital City for his studies, and we all moved here. But then, this boy hardly cos ho; he was so focused on his studies once that he almost got ill.”
Hannah listened silently.
Back when the Sealand Shea Family moved to Capital City, there were many speculations.
She never expected it was for their son’s education.
Compared to her useless father, who only told her not to study or work, just to marry into a good family—it was worlds apart.
Hannah’s thoughts seed obvious, and Mrs. Shea smiled, “My husband and I worked hard all these years for our children, so they could freely choose what they want to do, choose the people they like.”
“Don’t feel any burden. If you think he’s good, stay with him. If one day you stop liking him, I won’t let Isaac pester you.”
The Sheas didn’t stay long. Before they left, Mrs. Shea forced a peace pendant she wore into Hannah’s hands.
“Mrs. Shea, this…”
“I prayed for this years ago. It can keep you safe. Keep it, and it should bless you with everything going well. Consider it a gift for our first eting.”
Unable to refuse such generosity, Hannah kept it.
After the Sheas left, Hannah looked at Isaac, “Your parents are really nice.”
“If you want, they could also beco your family.”
“…”
Hannah hadn’t slept well last night and went back to her room to continue sleeping.
Little did she know, her affair with Isaac Shea had by now spread throughout Capital City.
——
During the party, Isaac’s eyes were practically glued to her, and later, it was witnessed that the two ca out of the sa room and then t with Mr. and Mrs. Shea alone.
Even a fool could see there was sothing going on between them.
The real question was whether there was any connection to Michale Shaw.
Thinking it over, since the couple had not avoided suspicion, it must be public, so Michale bluntly declared,
“What young master? He’s going to be my brother-in-law!”
With those words,
the entire social circle exploded.
Imdiately, people called to congratulate Old Lady Hugh and Yumi Johnson.
Both were shocked.
It just so happened that Hannah wasn’t answering her phone, so they could only reach out to William Hale.
“Grandma, Aunt, did you hear?”
“Did we, indeed! Is there anyone in Capital City who doesn’t know?” Mrs. Hugh massaged her brow. “That girl even declared during the Mid-Autumn Festival that she’d never marry, preferring to focus on her career.”
“She ntioned it to you, and you didn’t believe her.”
Mrs. Hugh only felt a headache coming on.
No sooner had William hung up than his phone buzzed again; it was Grandpa, reporting that Kevin Bell had been thrown out, news which too had spread.
After he was thrown out, mbers of the Payne Family took action.
His cousin Mario Payne and his uncle Tim Payne had despised him already, and it was fortunate they hadn’t bothered him sooner. Yet, he had walked right into the lion’s den.
“Sir, he has been taken care of properly,” soone reported to Mario.
“How was he dealt with?” Tim frowned.
“As you instructed, Sir, he was provided new clothes, placed in a five-star hotel, and a car was arranged to take him back to Greenland.”
Mario nodded, “Make sure everyone in Greenland sees how gloriously he returns.”
“I understand.”
Tim stood to the side, his brows furrowed in confusion. “Dad, what are you doing?”
Rembering his sister’s suffering and her still unhealed foot, Tim wished he could kill the man.
How dare he shalessly cause such a commotion!
He should have kicked him a few more tis.
Yet, while Tim was blinded by rage, William quickly discerned Mario’s intention.
Kevin Bell’s return to Greenland would not be pleasant.
**
Indeed, the reality was just as expected.
Kevin thought the Payne Family was treating him well out of respect for Zoe Bell, feeling exceptionally proud.
He figured he wouldn’t see Zoe any ti soon, so he didn’t refuse the ride back to Greenland.
All of Kevin’s assets were frozen by the court, and he lived in a rented apartnt with Vivi Lange. When the news of him flaunting branded clothes and gifts with a luxury car spread to his creditors,
suddenly, all his creditors were at his door.
“It’s not even the repaynt ti yet, what are you doing here!” Kevin panicked.
“You should have money now.”
“I don’t!”
“Stop bullshitting, if you can afford luxury goods, you can surely pay, hurry up and pay up.”
“My daughter is Mrs. Hale, you can find her!”
“You think we’re fools? Going to the Hale Family for money? Besides, you’ve already severed ties, how dare we approach the Hale Family.”
His creditors never ca themselves, they hired professional debt collection agencies convinced that Kevin had money, but not necessarily enough to repay everyone.
Thus, the debt collectors resorted to all sorts of thods.
Kidnapping today, beating him up on the street the next, disturbing him with midnight door knocks…
They even prevented him from leaving Greenland, fearing he’d run away!
In rely two or three days, Zoe heard that Kevin’s other leg was broken by people, several fingers dislocated, he was beaten until he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and developed a ntal illness.
Despite this, his creditors did not let up.
William had not expected this thod:
Letting others do the dirty work while remaining unblemished!
Externally, it even established a noble image for the Payne Family, many praised Mario for his kind heart, but they didn’t know that this very ‘kindness’ was what pushed Kevin step by step into hell.
William took a deep breath:
In the future, he needed to work even harder to please his father-in-law.
