Chapter 177: 177 Reckless to the Core: The Killer Must Pay with His Life (2 more chapters) Chapter 177: 177 Reckless to the Core: The Killer Must Pay with His Life (2 more chapters) The moonlight was pale, and a night of a hundred ghosts was upon us.
Liam Hugh had been drinking, his blood raging, his eyes trembling, his heartbeat so fast it seed about to burst from his throat.
“Han, Hannah?”
“Brother, you haven’t visited in a long ti.” That face, more familiar than any other.
This was the sister he had watched grow up, always smiling so gently.
But Liam Hugh was so frightened that his face went waxen white, pressing himself against the wall.
It seed to give him so comfort.
His fingers kept touching the wall until he finally found a switch, flicking it several tis to no avail – the light would not turn on.
anwhile, from the crack under the door, he could faintly see the green light of the ergency exit sign spilling into the room…
In these circumstances, the green was so eerie it took one’s breath away.
Liam Hugh looked at the person in the bed…
She slowly lifted the covers,
seemingly intending to get out of bed.
Liam Hugh’s legs went weak with fear, but he still used the wall for support as he ran to the door.
The doorknob, though, wouldn’t turn no matter how hard he tried!
What was happening?
He knocked on the door, “Is anybody there, help—”
But the person behind him suddenly laughed.
In the empty room, it seed to echo.
Over and over, again and again, striking his eardrums, it sounded even more mournful and sinister.
“Brother, are you afraid of ?”
“Molly Hanson, stop with your tricks and spirits!”
“Who are you talking about?”
“I’m warning you, co out right now.”
“It seems you really don’t want to see ? Why? Are you afraid I’ll co for your life?”
Liam Hugh, standing with his entire body pressed against the door, looked around the room for sothing to wield as a weapon, only to realize that the room was terrifyingly empty, with only the fixed bed, cabinets, and chairs.
“You… are you a human or a ghost!” he nearly wet himself in fear.
Especially as he watched her get out of bed, inching closer with every step.
“Whether I’m a person or a ghost, you know best, don’t you? After all…”
Her lips curled into a smile,
“You’re well aware of how I died that year!”
“No, I don’t know!” Liam Hugh shook his head frantically in fright, “What on earth do you want?”
“?…”
“Of course, I want to drag you to hell.”
As she spoke, she had already approached him, scaring Liam Hugh out of his wits, especially with that familiar face so close, as if about to press against his own.
A chill seed to fill the room in an instant.
The cold gushing from all directions, pouring into his body, he stood rigid, not daring to move, struggling to control his breathing and heartbeat, “Get away, get away—”
“It was suicide, it has nothing to do with !”
“No, you killed !” her voice was ice cold.
Like she had crawled up from hell, soaked with its chill, even her breath was icy, emanating a freezing air.
Liam Hugh was truly terrified out of his wits.
The alcohol he drank, fueled by its heat, surged and collided within him, bringing back the events of many years ago to the forefront of his mind, as he vaguely rembered the last ti he saw Hannah – in the morgue at the hospital, wearing this dress, only her body was covered with snow, turning the blue dress into a glaring black.
“Brother…”
The woman’s soft call of ‘brother’ directly shattered his already fragile ntal defenses.
“Aah—” he let out a dreadful scream, pushing away the person in front of him, “It was suicide, not who killed you, what do you want with !”
“I didn’t do anything, it’s all your fault!”
“Eva Hugh, you got what you deserved!”
“Everyone loved you, you were noble, pure, and wonderful, and I was mud, garbage, vermin… it was your ddling, did you know, I really hated you.”
“You deserve to die, better off dead, it’s not like I killed you, it’s none of my concern.”
“Irrelevant?” The woman who had been pushed away stood up.
Liam Hugh was also hot-headed.
If it really were a ghost,
how could he have pushed it to the ground?
“If it weren’t for you, I would never have attempted suicide!”
Liam Hugh shouted anxiously, “Who made you contract that disease, it’s because you’re too weak!”
He turned again, twisting the doorknob…
This ti, with a “click—” the door unexpectedly opened.
Overjoyed, he didn’t think too much of it; he had to leave this cursed place imdiately, but to his surprise, he was t with another person who was frightening enough to chill his bones.
“Wil-, William.”
Liam Hugh’s voice trembled.
At that mont, the lights in the room turned on.
They cast upon his face, making his already sharp features appear as if chiseled by knife and axe, completely devoid of any color, with a deep murderous intent in his eyes.
His lips thin and tightly pressed, eyes slightly squinting, a chill enveloping his entire body.
“Uncle, what did you just say?”
At this mont, this term “uncle” seed as if it ca straight from hell.
The cold, ruthless chill in his eyes was bloodthirsty, as if he truly were a wolf capable of devouring a man, fierce and rciless.
“I was talking nonsense, there is, there’s a…”
Ghost.
He didn’t finish saying the word “ghost” because when he turned around, he realized the “ghost” had already taken off the wig.
It was Hannah Johnson!
It was actually her.
She already resembled Eva Hugh significantly, and with the makeup technology today being incredibly advanced, all it took was a few touches from a professional to make the disguise nearly indistinguishable, especially in the dim lighting inside the room.
“How is it you?” Liam Hugh’s pupils shook.
It was only now that he understood:
This was a trap!
“Did you two do this? This is outrageous.” Liam Hugh forced himself to stay calm and walked up to William Hale, “Move aside.”
He remained motionless.
“William Hale, I told you to move aside. What are you two trying to do? Believe it or not, I’ll call the police!”
Liam Hugh’s hand, which was reaching for his phone, shook; he, more than anyone, knew that once certain old affairs were dug up,
he would be finished.
Even if his mother wanted to protect him, he wouldn’t be spared by the thods of the Hale father and son.
He wanted to call the police, but there was no signal on his phone.
Liam Hugh felt guilty, his heart pounding wildly as he looked at William Hale and still commanded, “Move aside right now!”
He still did not budge.
This made him panic and frustrated; he reached out, trying to push him aside, but unexpectedly, William Hale suddenly lifted his foot and delivered a kick without any warning—
His entire body nearly flew out!
He collided with the bed behind him, the tal bed sturdy; the bed leg slamd into his back, causing him to break out into a cold sweat from the pain.
In his chest, the turmoil was like a river overturning the sea; he clutched his chest, trying to get up, only to realize William Hale was closing in step by step.
“William Hale, what do you want to do?”
“Haven’t you heard the saying?” His presence was already cold and imposing, and now, from his superior position, his oppressive aura instantly doubled, his voice even more chilling and silent.
“Murder requires retribution!”
His whole being radiated fierceness,
and his tone was exceedingly defiant.
Retribution? Liam Hugh’s limbs went numb with fear; could this young man actually be thinking of killing him?
“Have you lost your mind!” Liam Hugh’s gaze imdiately fell on his daughter, “Hannah, stop him quickly. Murder is a cri; do you really want to watch him go to prison?”
Hannah Johnson simply looked down, adjusting the wig in her hands.
Then,
she walked out of the room and gently closed the door behind her.
