AiLin felt her eyes turning teary. Her cheeks were burning from embarrassnt as she wanted to find a quick hole she could hide into. She peeked upward, eting gaze with Li ZiChen who seed relax in comparison to her as he had took the glass water from her hand and then pat her back again. When he realized it has been long enough for him to touch her, he left her back and that was when AiLin notice that Li ZiChen always count the seconds he spent touching her, as if knowing that there was a limit.
Her eyes narrowed at this but she couldn’t ask as her attention was quickly caught by Nanny Po again, "Oh my, is it too early?" The old woman said in a worry, "I’m sorry, Miss AiLin. I thought since you two have decided to live together you would decide on having babies soon, maybe this old woman is too old fashioned. I heard a lot of couples decide not to have children anymore though that is concerning since I would really like to see young master’s babies."
"Nanny Po," Li ZiChen called her na to warn her. His expression wasn’t a glare but one that was firm to tell Nanny Po that she had gone too far.
AiLin waved her hand in front of his face, "No, don’t worry. I was only a bit startled. We aren’t in that kind of relationship Nanny Po," she smiled to the old woman who seed too surprised by her words that she almost fell backward. The old nanny’s eyes then moved to her young master, offering a look of condolences. AiLin turned to see that Li ZiChen’s expression was as peaceful as the morning sky but when she turned her face away she didn’t realize that Li ZiChen was holding to his teacup so tightly that his knuckles turned white.
"Ah, I see... I think I would have to go and clean the second floor, excuse young master, Miss AiLin," the old nanny quickly ran upward to the staircase, leaving the two while furiously apologizing to the young master she had raised in her head.
Left alone, the awkwardness felt like a slithering snake in the room. No one wants to address the elephant and they continued to eat and drink in silence. AiLin however, couldn’t handle the silence anymore and turned to Li ZiChen as she asked him, "Today I will be eting my birth parents, do you think there are words or actions that I should be careful about?"
"Nothing, they’ll be happy even if they could catch a glance of you," Li ZiChen responded and upon watching her face that seed to be in a bind he explained, "Your mother and father, they are both quiet people. You might think that they are strict but that is simply because of the way they were raised. However take my words for it, they are the few people who really want the best for you," after him, that is, he added in his mind.
AiLin smiled softly at the news, "I’m glad," she has too many enemies and had always have a sense of loneliness in her heart. She felt thankful that the chance had ca for her to feel what it feels to have a family.
"Then should we go?" Li ZiChen stood up, "I’ll wait for you to change your clothes and prepare the car."
AiLin nodded to his words. As they had both finished their breakfast, she went to change her clothes as Li ZiChen had told her. After an hour, they both drove toward the famous street of Imperial street. AiLin looked at the na of the street that they had passed by and a look of surprise as well as frown settle between her eyebrows.
This street.. only terrible mories bring her when she walked into this street. Her throat felt burning and her stomach churn. Although this street only houses those who are the wealthiest amongst the wealthy, and despite how beautiful it is, simply entering the street made a cloud of anxiety to eat her heart alive. She could feel mories flooding back into her head, those mories all being the terrible ones that kept her awake at night and appear only in her nightmares.
After all, this is the street where she once lived at, the Imperial Street, the land where Jiang Family’s house had been built at. She didn’t know what to think other than the questions that had filled her mind first. She wondered how could she never knew that her birth family lived so close to her? She knew for certain the Jiang Family didn’t live here anymore, but when did her birth family live in the Imperial Street as well?
To her relief, Li ZiChen had took a different block opposite to her old house. They then arrived to the street that was filled with bamboos and through the path they had arrived at a luxurious golden gate of a large mansion. Two maids in black dress and white apron had stood in front of the fountain near the gate while in front of it was security mbers in blue uniform who were exchanging informations from their walkie talkies, opening the door open for their car. One of the security t eyes with AiLin and imdiately bent his body into a ninety degree for a bow.
The entire mansion was painted in a muted olive green color, appearing regal and royal even by a glance. There were many other cars parked near the fountain, most of it being cars that she recalled her parents been trying to bid in the auction as they are mostly vintage. When she took a good look at the cars, her eyes narrowed. She recalled that so of it was too similar to the ones Mr and Mrs Jiang had. The Jiang couples were so proud, bragging about how they had acquired those cars which is only made once in the entire world. But why was it in this house now?
Li ZiChen had stopped his car and stepped out first. After he had opened her door did she realized that his car had ca to a stop. She thanked him with a smile and saw his hand reached out for her to step out. She hesitantly placed her hand on his palms only to see him smiling softly as if happy that they had ca in contact again.
"Were you staring at the cars?" He asked her, noting her gaze.
