AiLin couldn’t help but find herself standing still while she watched Li ZiChen pulling the younger guy by his collar. The pull was so rough and strong that it caused for the younger man in red to be dragged across the floor effortlessly. The younger man didn’t even dare to bring up his own fists as the next second Li ZiChen had plumted his own fist straight on the young man’s jaw. Blood seeped out from his mouth and YingYi couldn’t even gather himself to guard against the next punch as his head was too dizzy.
By the ti he realized it, Li ZiChen had grabbed his head and raised his fist. His face was unflinching without a single change of emotion as he was about to hit a harder punch on his younger brother.
Li YingYi closed his eyes tight. All he knew is the believe that his brother wouldn’t have gone so far as to kill him. He would be beaten up black and blue, bruised and bloodied, but at least he wouldn’t die, right?
Praying the thought in his own head, Li YingYi prepared for the punch that arrived rather slowly. He peeked between his eyelids, watching a woman who was dressed lightly in a blue silk pajama. The girl’s hair had been tied in a hurry into a ponytail as she was holding back to Li ZiChen’s wrist as if to stop it from moving. Magically, Li ZiChen who was never stopped by anyone actually stopped when the woman had requested him to do so.
"What is this ruckus?" AiLin frowned. "I knew that you were hiding a temper behind you but that young man in front of you can’t even guard himself. Isn’t it pathetic to go against such a weak baby?"
Li YingYi frowned upon being called a baby but he was again startled when he felt his brother releasing his grasp from his collar. He saw a smile creeping up at the corners of his brother’s lips, tugging into a smile that made YingYi to shudder.
"Sotis children need to be punished physically for them to understand their mistake," said Li ZiChen with a knowing tone.
AiLin scoffed, "Are you acting as my parents now? Corporal punishnt is outdated. Try using carrot and stick, it always works."
As if offended by her first remark, Li ZiChen released his anger into a frown, "To make it clear between us, the only few tis I have beaten my younger brother can be counted by five fingers. I would never lay a hand on him unless he acts like a brat."
Realizing why Li ZiChen didn’t hesitate to allow this young man to enter his apartnt, AiLin recognize the face that had been turned red from the punch to be quite similar to Li ZiChen’s own face. Though they didn’t seem like they’d be brothers judging by how Li ZiChen was dressed in a muted color while Li YingYi was dressed like a party boy.
"A brat?" Li Yingyi gritted his teeth, "I was just reminding you of the truth! Of this! Of that! See?!" He ardently slapped his hand on the bar counter of the kitchen, slapping the pictures after pictures of a grueso person who seed to have been stabbed to death. But when he had placed one of the picture, he seed to realize sothing he didn’t notice at first and then turned to stare at AiLin before letting out a shuddered gasp, "Oh God. Is this her replacent?"
Li ZiChen sighed. He ruffled his hair but AiLin could see him clenching his jaw. She could tell he was going to beat Li YingYi again and stood between them.
"What replacent? Who is this woman in the pictures?" AiLin pointed her finger to the nurous pictures that were stacked one upon the other.
"Replacent of Jiang AiLin! Lady. I don’t know who you are but my brother had always been a tad too crazy. I fear that he had taken you to be Jiang AiLin’s replacent," said Li YingYi in a hurry. As long as his brother couldn’t touch him now, he could speak! He didn’t mind his brother’s anger lashing on him in the future as long as he could warn the woman in front of her.
"Ah so this is ?" AiLin pulled up the portrait closer to her face. She frowned at the grueso scene of soone being stabbed to death in a place she was most familiar of— the place being none other than her own prison cell back when she was still in prison. "Well her body does look like and that face could be mistaken as but sure enough we don’t look similar at all?"
"Your family imdiately believed your death after seeing that picture," said Li ZiChen with a scoff. Indeed. The woman inside the picture pretending to be the dead "Jiang AiLin" is no where near the real AiLin. But the fact that her family took only a glance before guessing that AiLin had really died ant that they never really looked close to her face to notice any of the difference.
"Well that’s not surprising coming from them," AiLin said without a hint of bitterness. She instead found it laughable but when she laughed, Li ZiChen’s frown seed to tighten. She then turned to Li YingYi who seed to be so confused that his face was going black. "Listen the woman in this picture is soone pretending to be . To hide my death."
Li YingYi frowned, "I don’t know how much my brother has paid you for this lady but you don’t have to hide it. I’ll pay you a hefty amount so just leave my brother okay?"
AiLin frowned and turned to Li ZiChen, "Has he always been this..."
"Stupid?"
"I was going for stubborn," AiLin sighed at the remark Li ZiChen made. She tapped the picture, "It’s really . I’m not paid to act here. That’s my picture I was known as Jiang AiLin in the past."
"Huh. What? Bro... brother?"
"I told you not to make false assumption didn’t I?" Li ZiChen said with a shrug of his shoulders. "Coming here in this early morning only to yell that soone had died will of course anger ."
"But..."
AiLin saw how quick Li YingYi’s face dropped down in sha. He seed to be more embarrassed than ever, as if he was going to find the fastest way to hide his own face.
AiLin sighed as she always has a soft spot for people younger than her. She reached out her hand, "Now misunderstanding have been set aside, can I know your na?"
