Jiang NianNian felt nervous at once hearing Su HaiTan asking her about Hua AiLin again. Though Hua AiLin had turned out to be soone completely different than Jiang AiLin with only similarities being in their faces, she couldn’t help but fear that Su HaiTan’s interest on her would go toward Hua AiLin instead.
A sudden old sore spot in her heart was rubbed again.
In the past, she had liked a young man who was known to be both handso and wealthy. But that young man had instead fallen from Jiang AiLin. She recalled how no matter how hard she tried to fight against AiLin, she would always lose. Whether it was their looks, their fa, and their intellect. She would always lose against AiLin, always being the second choice.
AiLin always made her feel inferior and it had even caused her nightmares. So when AiLin fell off her throne and she took over her place, Jiang NianNian was the most delighted person in the world.
However now she felt the sa stifling anxiousness that Su HaiTan’s interest in Hua AiLin was more than his interest on her. It reminded her of the past as she could see the glimr on his black eyes that were filled with a sense of excitent as he looked toward the private room, seeing AiLin who was staring at the stage like the unattainable beauty.
The more unattainable a beauty is, the more it attracts.
AiLin had always held a cold air around her, making those who were around her to stiffen up and to think twice on what they were about to say as they feared her judgent. That cold air of her however also felt magnetic. People would usually try their best to prove to her of their achievents, to beg for her attention by making her know that they were soone she deserves to surround herself with. Such was the charm AiLin possess, the similar charm that Jiang AiLin possess, the one that Jiang NianNian feared as she could tell that Su HaiTan was next in line to fall for her magnetic charm.
"I know a bit... but you’re close to Elder Hua, so you must have heard about her more from the elder," she said, speaking demurely and trying to catch his attention by holding his hand.
Su HaiTan didn’t mind being held but he humd, "I did ask her but she told she doesn’t know much about AiLin. Elder Hua had expressed concern about her. I heard that she had lived too long away from Beijing, from childhood I suppose, so they weren’t too close. Elder Hua herself wants to know more about AiLin."
"She does?" Jiang NianNian probed curiously. From what she heard, Elder Hua despise any female descendants?
"She does. Don’t you know? Elder Hua loves all her family mbers, dearly even."
No... Jiang NianNian guessed that Elder Hua was pretending to care about AiLin or any of her female relatives as she wanted to look kind and compassionate to Su HaiTan who she doted on so much more than her own daughter.
"Can you tell more if you know about AiLin?" Su HaiTan asked pleasantly. Being a young man who was always doted ant he was never refused. He was also aware that Jiang NianNian couldn’t possibly refuse on filling in the blanks that he wanted answers from.
"I- I... I would have told you if I know, HaiTan," she smiled happily, "You know , I would never lie to you but I don’t know much about Miss Hua other than the ti that she had ca to my birthday party. I also want to get close to her if I could like how we beca close."
Su HaiTan chuckled, "Great, then perhaps one day we can all talk together to know each other better."
Jiang NianNian answered with a smile before turning back to look at AiLin who was far from them and then clenched her fists as tight as she could until his knuckles had turned white.
Mr Jiang on the other hand had began his opening speech, he declared how long he had wished for their company to prosper, what he had done and took to get so far. He then said with a heartfelt words while holding to Mrs Jiang’s hands, "If it wasn’t for my wife and children, I couldn’t have gone as far as I have now. All I have achieved are all for them and perhaps due to that God had allowed chances to prosper."
"Bullshit," AiLin scoffed. She reached out for a glass of alcohol when Li ZiChen stopped her and instead gave her a glass of oolong tea. She raised her eyebrow, "But I..."
"Unless you don’t regret what you would do when you’re drunk, I could let you drink," he smiled before swiping his thumb on his lips, reminding what she had done to him the last ti she was drunk.
Her cheeks reddened and she darted her eyes as fast as she could toward the stage again, "I’ll get the oolong tea," she then took the glass from his hand and drank it. "If it is as we have suspected then Mrs Jiang must have had an affair with Mr Jiang’s older brother for years now. Do you think even ngYao aren’t his children?"
"It could be. Now that I think about it, ngYao doesn’t really look so similar to Mr Jiang," said Li ZiChen as they scrutinized the family from the place they sat at. "Have you seen your uncle?"
She turned and shook her head, "All I know is how he was kicked out of the family because Mr Jiang is particularly better in handling the company. I heard not only is my uncle a womanizer with so many affairs but it seems that he is also a gambling addict with alcohol history. He also seem to be in many type of scams."
"I see," Li ZiChen humd, "I should have looked at your uncle history background first."
"We can look at it again after this," she then snapped her finger, "though I was a bit confused. Mrs Jiang is a perfectionism since she was born from a wealthy family. She wouldn’t have an affair with a failure like my uncle... there seems to be more reason."
"It could be love," said Li ZiChen only to see her who had laughed at his words like it’s an unfunny joke.
"No way. She doesn’t love anyone than herself. It’s impossible, I know she has narcissism disorder."
