“Qiao Qiao, it must’ve been a misunderstanding, then.” Qin Lan said sheepishly as she was holding in her anger. Although she could not go to the military neighborhood, she knew exactly what Ye Qiao had been doing. Ye Qiao had asked for a mansion to start a company with a bunch of people!
“Auntie Qin, you’re my kind stepmother, so please talk to if there’s anything you don’t know. Otherwise, other people would think we barely interact!” Ye Qiao teased. It was imdiately obvious to the others that they did not get along well.
Qin Lan was embarrassed as she had been trying to maintain her reputation as a good mother. To make matters worse for her, she could not scold Ye Qiao in public, so she could only swallow the anger!
anwhile, the school gate opened. Parents and students flooded the compound imdiately. The results were already posted on the announcent board! Like before, it was a na list in bright red.
Parents and students crowded in front of the board, sticking their heads out to find their nas.
The head of the high school seniors held a loudspeaker, along with a few other teachers who were holding a red banner. There were so pink papers on the banner written with words, but they were folded so no one could tell what they were.
“My daughter is not here yet. Are they holding congratulatory words? She had better not miss her most glamorous mont!” Qin Lan mumbled. The crowd was too chaotic, and as a rich and elegant lady, she would not allow herself to join the crowd.
Instead, she went to look for the Head of Year.
There were already a few parents asking about the banner, but Qin Lan butted in and asked, “Mr. Sun, how did Zhenzhen do? Is she the top student?”
The Head of Year looked at the wife of the deputy mayor and smiled awkwardly. “Congratulations, Qin Lan!”
Qin Lan was so excited that she almost jumped. However, she had to remain composed, so she smiled elegantly. The other parents then looked at her enviously. “Zhenzhen’s mom, your wishes really ca true! Zhenzhen is too good!”
“Exactly, how did you teach such a wonderful child?” Another parent fawned.
Qin Lan was extrely flattered. Her smile was as bright as a peony. “I have never worried about Ye Zhenzhen’s studies before! Of course, this may be because of genetics. Her father and I were both top-scorers!”
She was mocking Ye Qiao, who was not too far away.

Qin Lan and the few other parents fell silent... Many other students fell silent too... Ye Qiao was the top scorer! She was even the town’s top scorer!
Qin Lan’s ears buzzed; she thought she was having an illusion. The smile on her face turned cold, and her expression went gloomy!
“That’s right! This year, the overall top scorer and the town’s top scorer is from our school – Ye Qiao from the accelerated class! She scored a total of 662 marks!” The Head of Year spoke proudly into the speaker. Who would have thought that the town’s top scorer would co from their school!?
