Stella Charlie’s afternoon class hadn’t ended yet. While she was daydreaming, she received a ssage from Vincent Warner.
He had to go on a business trip again, possibly for a week.
This was the first ti since they got together that Vincent Warner was leaving for so long.
During this week apart, Vincent Warner would ssage Stella Charlie every day.
Stella Charlie found that he was quite the chatterbox, as if without him at ho, he couldn’t feel at ease about her.
Perhaps it was due to a lack of affection since childhood.
In Vincent Warner’s repeated reminders, Stella Charlie didn’t feel annoyed. Instead, she felt that Vincent Warner genuinely cared for her.
Even though they stayed in touch online, the week still felt sowhat long for Stella Charlie.
The sa was true for Vincent Warner.
As soon as the plane landed, Vincent Warner turned on his phone and received a ssage from his mother: Your aunt has arranged a blind date for you. A young lady from the Swift Family, make ti to co back this afternoon.
Seeing this ssage, Vincent Warner frowned irritably and closed the ssage without replying.
Calculating that Stella Charlie would still be in class at this ti, Vincent Warner gave up the idea of contacting her and directly had the driver take him to Stella Charlie’s school.
Along with the sound of the class bell ringing, Vincent Warner texted Stella Charlie: Waiting for you at the school gate.
Seeing the ssage, Stella Charlie’s footsteps paused: You’re back?
Vincent Warner: Just arrived, let’s have lunch together.
Stella Charlie smiled at her phone and her steps beca lighter.
Sitting in the car, Vincent Warner watched Stella Charlie running towards him as if he was seeing the most beautiful thing in the world, his brow unconsciously relaxing.
"Screech—"
As a loud braking sound rang out, Vincent Warner watched in horror as a car headed straight for where Stella Charlie was.
His face changed dramatically, and he imdiately pushed the door open and got out of the car.
Stella Charlie, still in shock, collapsed to the ground, with the car’s front only a few centiters away from her.
"Didn’t watch where you’re going?!" The car driver cursed before driving off.
Fortunately, and incident-free, the car didn’t touch Stella Charlie.
It’s just that having experienced a previous accident, it might have frightened her.
Vincent Warner helped her up from the ground: "Are you hurt?"
Stella Charlie raised her hand and looked at it, only to see a slight scrape on her palm: "...I’m okay."
Vincent Warner thought it was just an accident. After getting back in the car, he received a ssage from his mother: This is a warning to you. Next ti, I can’t guarantee the brakes will be this responsive. I don’t believe you can watch over her all the ti without sothing going wrong. You can be with any kind of woman outside, but you have to marry soone presentable. If you don’t attend the blind date this afternoon, she will pay the price.
"... Did you just co back from the airport?" Stella Charlie initiated a conversation.
Vincent Warner, lost in thought, put away his phone and gently answered Stella Charlie: "Yes."
"Was the business trip tiring? How about we go back ho for a al, I’ll cook, and you can lie down for a while."
Vincent Warner held Stella Charlie’s hand and clasped it in his palm: "Okay."
Stella Charlie looked down at their hands, pursed her lips, and blushed slightly as she bowed her head.
After lunch, while Stella Charlie was washing the dishes, Vincent Warner suddenly ca up behind her and hugged her.
Startled, Stella Charlie nearly dropped the plate she was holding. She paused and asked him, "What’s up with you?"
Vincent Warner closed his eyes, rested his chin on her neck, and spoke in a low, tired voice: "Missed you."
Stella Charlie always felt shy about responding to such direct words.
After a mont of silence, she softly spoke and changed the subject: "I have to go to my part-ti job this afternoon. You should stay ho and rest well, adjust to the ti difference."
