"Ma’am, please calm down and cooperate with our investigation."

The woman arrogantly said, "Get that little temptress out! She should pay! So young yet already such a vixen, dares to kill, what’s next as she grows up?!"

Stella Charlie curled up on the bench in the corner of the office, listening to the woman’s curses from outside.

She was scared no one would believe her, scared she’d end up in jail because of this incident.

The woman’s cursing grew closer, and when she saw Stella sitting on the bench, she imdiately charged at her.

The officers nearby didn’t react in ti; the woman grabbed Stella’s hair and cursed, "You little bitch, pay up! If you can’t co up with a million, you’re going to jail!"

The officers quickly stepped forward to pull the woman away, but she wouldn’t let go of Stella’s hair.

In the struggle, Stella was forcibly dragged from the bench to the floor.

Amidst the chaos, Vincent Warner, escorted by officers, entered the office.

The woman was forcefully pulled away, losing her balance, and landed right by Vincent’s feet.

Vincent, with a slightly disdainful expression, moved his shoes aside.

Seeing Stella not far away, her hair ssy and clothes stained with blood, he stepped over the woman and bent down to lift Stella off the ground.

The mont Vincent appeared, Stella’s anxious heart inexplicably cald a great deal.

The shouting woman was taken to a separate interrogation room by the police, and Stella, accompanied by Vincent, completed her statent more calmly.

From Stella’s incoherent description, Vincent imagined the scene at the ti. He could imagine how afraid she must have been alone in such a situation, so much so that she was still in shock.

"It’s okay now. Let’s go, I’ll take you ho."

Stella woodenly followed Vincent to the police station’s entrance, stopping just as she was about to step out.

Vincent turned to look at her, softly asking, "What’s wrong?"

"...Can I leave?" she murmured, "I killed soone..."

Vincent sighed with heartache, gently patting her head, "Didn’t the officer just say you could go? Besides, it was self-defense, you were brave."

"But..."

"Don’t worry, that person only got a bit hurt, there’s no life-threatening danger. The police are at the hospital and will handle it according to the law."

Hearing that the person wasn’t dead, Stella’s eyes showed a hint of delight.

Clearly, he was a bad guy trying to assault her, undeserving of sympathy.

The car drove for a while in the night, with Stella finally coming back to her senses sitting by the rear window.

Looking up at Vincent in the driver’s seat, she softly said, "...Thank you for going through all this trouble so late."

Vincent glanced at her through the rearview mirror, quietly asking, "When such a big thing happened, why didn’t you call ?"

Stella was stunned; partly her mind was in chaos afterward, partly even if she were calm, she might not have thought to call him.

"...How did you know?"

"Officer Armstrong handled the last accident too, she recognized you, so she called ."

Stella’s dark eyes sincerely looked at Vincent, softly thanking, "I really appreciate you coming."

Vincent seed about to speak but chose silence, then turned the car right into an underground parking lot.

"Dealing with these things late at night is indeed troubleso. If you go back to living there, there’s no guarantee incidents like this won’t happen again. So, you should stay here. The rent is as I said before, you can stay with peace of mind, and it’ll ease my worries too."
