Hilla looked at Julie and said sincerely, "Miss Green, that’s not what I ant. You got it wrong."
"I’m not going to beat around the bush. You are very beautiful, and there are many young talents in the Anderson Group. It is possible for you to get in with a senior-level executive."
"Thank you, Miss Green. I’ll accept it."
If she didn’t accept it, she was afraid that Julie would play cupid.
Anyway, even if Hilla didn’t take the lipstick, Julie would drag Hilla into this. Being in trouble together was better than Hilla being off the hook while ridiculing Julie.
So people were so vicious.
Hilla held the lipstick in her palm. She thought the workplace was complicated and she couldn’t always have her own way.
Sure enough, when Hilla accepted it, a pleased smile appeared on Julie’s face, "Let’s go out. The pastries on the table are very famous here. They taste good!"
Hilla got the chills and forced a smile.
She accepted it anyway. Why did Julie still fix her up with that man? If Bruce found out that she "flirted with n" under his nose, he would misunderstand her.
"I’ll leaving, Miss Green!"
Hilla nodded, pale, and propped herself out of Julie’s office. As soon as she walked to her desk, she saw that it was heaped with all kinds of gifts and snacks.
The male colleagues looked at her with their eyes shining.
Hilla shivered and rushed into the bathroom with terror.
In the highly competitive workplace, n regarded her like a lamb to the slaughter and would go to all lengths to take advantage of her.
Won took her as a class enemy and would get her cornered.
Hilla sat on the toilet and lanted that it would be difficult to survive in the Anderson Group!
When it was finally ti to leave work, Hilla grabbed her handbag from the desk and ran out without looking back.
No matter how many n behind her were unable to tear their eyes away from her, she felt that staying out of trouble was more important now.
When Hilla was intimate with Rudi, Julie would give her a talking -to, not to ntion the won in Anderson Group. She was going to make enemies with all won in the Anderson Group.
Hilla ran all the way to the intersection where Bruce dropped her off in the morning before she texted him. She waited a long ti, but the car didn’t co.
She felt terrible. She would have driven to work herself.
As Mrs. Anderson, Hilla was spendthrift and would not take a crowded bus. Instead, she took a taxi to the Anderson’s.
Orlenna was grooming Candy and Cookie in the living room. Seeing Hilla return, she froze and wondered, "How co you return by yourself?"
Hilla knew she was concerned about Bruce and said hastily, "He’s busy working and let return by myself."
Orlenna sighed, "Bruce has just recovered, and now he’s fully occupied with the business. When do you think you’ll be able to have children?"
When it ca to children, Hilla’s throat constricted. After drinking up the water in the glass, she hurtled upstairs.
Before she went upstairs, Orlenna said, "Hilla, when will Bruce be back?"
Standing on the stairs, Hilla rubbed her clothes, looked obedient, and whispered, "He didn’t tell . It’s his first day. He won’t be back too late.
"Oh, I’m going to prepare the dicine. When Bruce’s back ho, you both drink it before going to bed."
Orlenna’s gaze fell on Hilla’s lower abdon as she smiled lovingly, as if it would bulge and Hilla would have a baby tomorrow.
When Hilla t Orlenna’s eager gaze, a shudder overca her and she felt that she would get into terrible trouble.
Orlenna actually didn’t give up on asking Hilla to have children.
Hilla was apprehensive as she wondered how she could discourage Orlenna from asking her to have children. The fastest and most effective way she could think of was ... not to show up in front of Orlenna.
Orlenna would not urge her to have children if she couldn’t see Hilla, right? Thinking of this, Hilla felt smarter.
"Mother, I’m going upstairs to take a shower. Bruce has just recovered, so I’m afraid it can’t be rushed. And I can’t do it alone."
How co Hilla wanted Bruce not to co back tonight and work in the office until dawn?
It was too much for Bruce who just recovered from a serious illness but was far from well.
Orlenna thought Hilla took it seriously, but Hilla was shy and felt embarrassed.
Orlenna’s face wreathed in smiles and she said, "Alright, I’m just jumping the gun.
Bruce’s health cos first. I won’t push this. After all, it will take more than nine months to have a child. There is no need to rush into this. You should put your health first."
Even though Orlenna said so, Hilla could still feel Orlenna’s excitent when she was beside herself with joy.
Although Orlenna said Bruce’s health ca first, obviously she only cared about whether they would have a baby. Anyway, she only wished to have a grandson in nine months.
With a forced smile, Hilla dragged herself to her room, feeling wronged.
She really did not want to see Orlenna full of joys.
Not long after she returned to her room, the honk was heard in the Anderson’s. The car did not return to the East Courtyard, but instead went to the Main Courtyard. It took more than an hour before Bruce returned.
Bruce talked to Tyree about the company before he returned to his room. As soon as he entered the room, he saw Hilla holding a knife in front of the dresser and cutting the lipstick on her hand ferociously.
Seeing him return, she only gave him a displeased look.
Bruce frowned. He glanced at the red, scarred table she cut and got chills up his spine.
Glancing at Hilla, he asked suspiciously, "Did soone offend you?"
She just had her first day on the job but was so offended that she vented her anger with her favorite lipstick. It seed that she was badly offended and who was to bla would suffer.
Hilla snorted and spoke out a word through gritted teeth with a cold look in her eyes, "Yeah!"
Bruce nodded, undid his tie, and moved his neck. The wheelchair pulled itself up to the wardrobe.
He casually took off his suit, unbuttoned his shirt, and asked, "Who is it?"
"Your mother!"
Bruce’s hand trembled as he unbuttoned his shirt. He watched Hilla rush towards him crossly with a knife in her hand. Then she pointed at Bruce and said, "She asked to have a baby in nine months. She forced to take the dicine!"
She was mad just thinking about it!
...
Bruce looked at Hilla who didn’t freshen up but stared at him with red eyes. Her makeup was sared, and her hair was ssy.
She looked like a devil but he sohow thought she was cute.
A smile touched his lips as he comforted her gently, "I didn’t think Mother was serious. How can we ti it?"
What if she couldn’t get pregnant in a month or two? He couldn’t ti it.
Hilla felt relieved for Bruce’s attitude, but she still felt angry thinking about it. "But she asks to take the dicine every day. She isn’t just talking. Even if I take it, I can’t make a baby alone!"
Wasn’t Orlenna making things difficult for Hilla?
Why did one always give her daughter-in-law such a hard ti? Wasn’t it nice to get along well? Why did she ask her daughter-in-law to do this and that?
Besides, the scariest part was being urged to have a baby. Hilla felt worse at being urged by Orlenna. It was painful for her and she only wanted to run away from ho.
Bruce saw her displeasure and smiled. "Don’t take the dicine if you don’t like to."
"That won’t do. She works so hard to get it and brings it to personally. How can I resist her look of concern and not take it?"
When Bruce looked at Hilla whining while being soft, he felt touched and relaxed. Giving her a sidelong glance, he teased, "Did you take all the dicine?"
When Hilla thought of taking the dicine painfully these days, she couldn’t help but stamp in a grievance. "Of course. Mother has brought it to . I couldn’t tell her that I don’t want to take it and that I can’t have a baby even if I take it because we don’t sleep together."
Bruce listened to her complaining patiently. He thought of how she had raged against Rudi and cried for his coma and felt that she had never been as lovely as she was now.
Bruce’s smile widened. He took out a handkerchief, held Hilla’s wrist, and carefully wiped off the lipstick on her hand.
"Mother was just saying. I haven’t recovered yet. She won’t rush into it too much. You don’t have to take the disgusting dicine. You can go through the motions. She won’t know that."
"But if she finds out, she will be sad!"
Hilla pursed her lips and felt the warmth of his fingertips. She just let Bruce wipe her hands before rubbing her fingertips and slowly pulling her hands back.
Bruce looked up at Hilla who looked guilty and his smile widened. "You’re not
complaining, are you? Do you want to have a baby with ?"
"I, I didn’t an that. You’re so cheeky."
Bruce raised his eyebrows, looking serious. "I want to discuss with my wife about having a baby. What makes you think I’m cheeky?"
"Stop it. I don’t want to have a baby with you. You can forget about it."
With that, Hilla picked up the clothes she had thrown on the bed and rushed into the bathroom, blushing.
Bruce was helpless at that. He couldn’t have a baby alone even if he wanted to.
Although Bruce had told her that, Hilla still took the dicine with her eye closed when Orlenna brought it over.
Lying on the bed at night, Hilla clutched the bedding nervously, listening to the noise from Bruce beside her cautiously.
As soon as the lights were turned off, she said, "I still rember what happened in the morning!
"I’m talking about you leaving on the roadside and asking to walk to the Anderson Group alone. I am vindictive. And don’t think I’ll let it go."
She was used to sleeping in the dark and had made it a habit when Bruce was in a coma.
They were disard after sharing a bed for a long ti. Besides, Bruce was quite a decent man and had never crossed the line in the middle of the bed.
Hilla slept with her arms outstretched at night and had crossed the line several tis. Fortunately, Bruce had never argued with her over it.
The room was pitch dark when the bedside lamp was turned off.
Bruce was quiet. After a while, Bruce’s deep voice sounded, "So that’s why you took a taxi back after work tonight. And you gave two eggs at dinner to get back at ."
Knowing that he hated eggs the most, Hilla had peeled two boiled eggs and stuffed them into his mouth. The mont he swallowed them, both Orlenna and Margaret were surprised.
Hilla didn’t expect that he had seen through it.
She clutched the sheets guiltily. Fortunately, it was dark and he couldn’t see her guilty look.
"Anyway, I’ll drive to the office by myself tomorrow and I’ll never take a car with you again."
"Well, as you like."
Bruce agreed so easily. In the dark, Hilla chuckled to herself.
Seeing that he was such a pushover tonight, Hilla pushed her luck and said, "Bruce, I want to move out."
Bruce remained silent. Hilla frowned, and after a mont, she mustered her courage and said, "Bruce, I want to have my own space. If you don’t feel comfortable with moving out on my own, you can just let move into a house or apartnt of yours temporarily. There are so many properties of the Anderson family.
"I don’t mind living with your families. But the dicine is too disgusting. I don’t want to take it anymore.
"Your families are indeed nice to , but whenever Orlenna sees , she will urge to have a baby. Moving out would be good for both of us.
"You need to have a good rest. Orlenna takes good care of you while I’m all fingers and thumbs. I will only cause trouble to you and may even worsen your injuries.
"I just need shelter. How about I pay my rent?
"Bruce, you’re not asleep, are you?"
Bruce didn’t respond even though she had said so much. Hilla thought, "You should at least snore, and I can regard it as a yes."
"No way, have you fallen asleep?"
Hilla rolled over and saw Bruce’s angular profile in the dim light.
"Did you hear or not?"
Hilla smashed her head on the pillow in frustration, and then raised her head, staring at Bruce with a smirk. "Since you’re asleep, you wouldn’t know if I give you a kiss, right?"
