...

Julian did not have much work to deal with in Micronland. In fact, he could have chosen not to appear personally.

However, as he ca here, the situation progressed even more smoothly. And now they could start their journey back at any ti.

"What are you doing in there?"

It was already noon when Margaret woke up. Without the chance to fill her empty stomach, Margaret rushed into the bathroom straightaway.

Margaret’s face puckered as she ca out of the bathroom. Julian looked at her, worried.

"Honey, are you feeling well? Or do you want to go ho?"

Margaret did not answer. She nodded and then shook her head with an air of martyrdom.

Before Julian could ask any more questions, Margaret fiercely poked his chest and said, "It’s all because of you. Why do you have to take this business trip? You’ve missed my ’best ti.’ You even got mad with . Now my baby is gone."

Margaret could not help but feel frustrated, thinking of the hardship she had gone through last night flying from Far City to Micronland against the wind and rain.

She had not expected that all her fantasies shattered overnight.

Hearing Margaret’s words, Julian paused out of shock. "Your baby?" he ventured.

He had no idea they had a baby.

As far as he could recollect, Margaret had indeed undergone an appendix operation last month. "Was that in fact an abortion?" he thought.

"My period’s co."

Margaret fell on the bed and said listlessly.

She thought it must be that the ti of "sowing" was too late, so before the baby could get rooted in her belly, her period arrived first.

Julian breathed a sigh of relief and felt a bit speechless.

Margaret’s "special days" were indeed around these few days of a month, he suddenly realized.

But he was not to bla for this, wasn’t he?

"It’s ok. We can try again when it ends. As the saying goes, where there is a will, there is a way."

Julian said with a straight face as if he was teaching so serious truths.

Margaret turned her head and glared at him.

"It’s all because you are not able to get pregnant!" she said in a fit of pique.

He’s ablest to do nothing than that, Julian defended himself inwardly.

But Julian decided not to argue about whether he was able or not.

Instead, he consoled her, "Yesterday was just not the right day for that."

Margaret rolled her eyes and muttered, "No excuse! Horton and Halle had not picked a date, yet they still have Emily. Why was that?"

And it happened after they spent only one night together. She suspected that Horton, as a doctor, had so secret recipe for conceiving a baby.

"Horton should have shared it", Margaret thought.

Julian frowned and stared at Margaret with an incomprehensible gaze.

She was clearly probing his bottom line.

Just after one night, she started to get picky about him again.

"Right," she reached for her smartphone, "I should consult Halle about it." However, Julian snatched her phone away as soon as she took it out. "There’s no need to ask. You won’t be able to use it anyway." he sulked. "What do you an? Why can’t I use it?" she asked, mystified.

Julian glanced at her and said, "Your period. What can you do these days? I have no problem with it, but can you?"

Hearing his words, Margaret shrunk and thought, "Alright, I can’t do it!"

Since all the tasks in Micronland were finished, Margaret was now eager to leave.

She missed her friends back in Far City.

Therefore, despite her physical malaise, they left for Far City just later that day.

When Evan saw them, a gratified smile imdiately appeared on his face.

He was not surprised that this young couple made it up so fast.

On their way back to their room, Margaret locked the door before Julian could enter the room.

Julian stood outside the door, frowning.

"Margaret, open the door."

"You like to sleep in the study, don’t you? Now you can stay there as you like since I will not be able to do anything the next few days."

Margaret snorted coldly. She glanced at the locked door, then sauntered over to the bed and threw herself into it.

It was so good to be back. She loved the feeling at ho! Even the air slt different here.

She preferred the security this house could bring to her, no matter how luxurious the double room of the foreign hotel was.

After a while, there was no more movent outside the door. Margaret wrapped herself up with the duvet on her bed and began to nourish her body.

She decided to take advantage of the following several days to regain her energy and prepare to give birth to a cute, healthy baby next year.

Within the Jorgansen Group, the situation seed to have changed again these few days.

Julian returned just the next day he left for a business trip, while Margaret had not appeared since then.

No one knew the reason.

"Don’t tell Margaret is pregnant!" Lily exclaid.

"Impossible. She was still like an underdog the day before yesterday. How could she get pregnant so fast?"

Sumr shook her head. With her chin resting upon her hands, she stared at the tightly shut door of the CEO’s office and narrowed her eyes.

"It could be that Mr. Jorgansen simply ignored Margaret until she surrendered that night. She begged Mr. Jorgansen to return and told him that she would be his good wife and take care of the family for him."

Lily shook her head. "Margaret only eats. She doesn’t cook. I heard that Mr. Jorgansen is the one who cooks. How could she possibly be a good wife?"

It was very abnormal that Margaret didn’t co with Julian.

"Could it be that they failed to make up and that Margaret is going to divorce Mr. Jorgansen?"

"If so, she really is looking for herself a big trouble!" Lily was stunned.

"Could she really be pregnant?"

Sumr muttered, and the more she thought about it, the more she felt that it was

true.

After all, Margaret and Julian had only got angry with each other for the past few days. Maybe they had a baby before that and had only discovered it during the very few days.

Sumr texted Margaret but had not received a reply, which made them dwell even more on it.

"If Margaret’s pregnant, she will let the whole world know."

Lily shook her head.

Sumr sighed, her head still leaning on her hands, "Without Margaret, days in the Jorgansen Group are dull."

They would see no sweet scene between Julian and Margaret today, it seed.

At the mont, Margaret was struggling with the pain in her underbelly. She held a flask filled with hot water in her arms and weakly curled up in the duvet.

She took out her phone and sent a ssage to Riya with her trembling arms.

Soon she got a brief response, "I’m busy!"

Margaret gnashed her teeth and texted, "We break up!"

At the mont, Riya was pinned down by the man on her. She read the ssage on her phone and frowned.

The man’s movent paused, and he snatched the phone from her hand. "Focus."

Riya glared at him, her teeth clenched, "Are you done? How many days have you been here? When are you going back to River City?"

The man buried his head in her neck and whispered in a hoarse voice, "Until you go with ."

"That’s impossible."

When could she get rid of this man who had shalessly taken possession of her house as well as her bed for the past several days?

Besides, she seed to be getting more and more accustod to it. What a sha!

The man was completely undisturbed by her words and said in his deep voice, "I asked grandfather to play chess tonight."

"That’s enough!" cried Riya.

"I don’t think so," said Stefan.

...

The Marleys’ was brightly lit.

Inside the house, people were chatting and laughing. Tyree liked to be surrounded by families, so all the Marleys lived together.

However, there were still quite a few youngsters who moved out.

It was still not easy to have everyone gathered at ho.

Riya sat on the sofa, listening to her sisters-in-law chatting.

However, she couldn’t help but look at the stairs of the second floor.

She was wondering what was going on since they had been playing chess for an hour.

Riya frowned, feeling a little irritated. She muttered in a low voice, "Annoying." "What’s wrong? Are you unhappy today?" asked Alia, one of Riya’s sisters-in-law.

Hearing that, Riya ca to her senses and shook her head slightly. "I was thinking about taking a walk in the courtyard. It’s too stuffy indoors."

"Go on then. Do you want to play cards later?" said Alia.

Riya quickly shook her head, "No thanks, it’s not safe for to be alone. I’ll ask people to get Stefan out."

"Don’t stay upstairs with my grandfather and my father for so long." she thought, feeling threatened.

"Aren’t you going to walk in the courtyard? How can it be unsafe? If you are afraid, I can go with you."

Alia was just about to get up. Riya stopped her.

"No, thanks. I’m ok by myself."

Alia glanced upstairs with an ambiguous smile and whispered, "You’ve only been apart for a short while. Don’t worry. Mr. Key grew up in the Marley family. Nothing will happen to him."

Riya’s face tightened. With an awkward and unnatural blush, she whispered, "I’m not worried about him. I just feel like it’s not appropriate for an outsider to stay in our house for so long."

Seeing Riya’s guilty look, Alia didn’t say anything but smiled.

"Alright. Go take a walk. I’ll get soone to call Stefan down. Why don’t you stay at ho tonight?"

The children of the Marley family rarely moved out. After all, the juniors were all still living here.

Although Riya’s generation was young, they rarely moved out.

As for others, Tyree wouldn’t care much. However, Riya was the only girl, yet she did not like to stay at ho.

Tyree was worried that Riya would be bullied outside.

"No, I’ll go back. It’s too crowded here."

The more people there were, the more easily there would be gossips. Especially when Riya was present since she had always been the center of all talks.

As long as the conversation was related to her, it would be about her marriage. So naturally, Riya was very afraid of staying with the Marleys. "Oh, co on, you don’t have to stare at it. Stefan will co out." Riya t Alia’s smiling eyes, blushed, and dashed out of the door. "What’s wrong with Riya? Why does she have to run so fast?"

Marnan leaned forward and whispered. She wanted to tell Riya that her nephew had returned from abroad.

But Riya ran away before she had the chance.

"Oh, she is shy."

Alia smiled. But Marnan was confused.

"Shy? Is she in love? Why didn’t anyone in the house know it?" she thought, wondering whether she should introduce her nephew to Riya.

On the other side, Riya was bored. She walked around the courtyard and finally sat on a rocking chair.

The insects were singing around the lawn. The cool breeze blew across her face.

It was already autumn.

In the blink of an eye, it would be New Year’s Day. She would be one year older.

Riya looked at the sky. The stars were scattered, not romantic at all.

She believed that there would be guys lined up waiting for her to choose because she was young and excellent. But now, she beca the one waiting to be picked.

And the worst thing was that Stefan was her only long-term pursuer.

She doubted that the reason she started catching feeling about him was only that she didn’t have any better options.

She didn’t like him, but she had no choice.

Riya signed. Her mind was filled with mories of her past life.

From kindergarten to university, she had always been the most shining girl. Why weren’t there any boys chasing her?

She wasn’t mannish. Instead, she was sexy and charming. "Are they all blind? Why have they left being alone?" she thought.

Riya suddenly felt a little agitated. It seed that Stefan and Bruce were the only guys in his life.

She didn’t take her cousins and uncles into account, of course. But there were indeed too few guys outside of her family around her.

She felt very annoyed at the thought of this.

She thought that maybe she didn’t like Bruce that much in the past. It was just because Stefan and Bruce were the only choices.

"If I continue to be single, people will perhaps think that I have lost interest in all guys after Bruce broke my heart." she thought to herself.

That was far from the truth. The fact was Riya was interested in guys. But guys didn’t fancy her much.

Riya sighed again. She looked up at the figure that suddenly appeared in front of her and frowned.

"Why are you everywhere?"

Riya furrowed and muttered with dissatisfaction.

Didn’t she deserve to have more choices?

This guy had kept showing up in front of her ever since she was a child.

She couldn’t reconcile.

She was forced to choose him. And she couldn’t swallow the anger.

"Weren’t you the one who called over?"

Stefan’s gaze was indifferent yet glowing under the darkness.

Riya choked. Although she did not want to admit it, he was right.

She could not help but ask, "What were you doing upstairs with my father and grandfather?"

"Playing chess!"

Riya rolled her eyes when she heard Stefan’s honest reply.

She knew he was playing chess.

"Didn’t you talk about anything?"

Stefan looked at her thoughtfully. He seed to understand what she ant, but at the sa ti, not.

He calmly said, "We talked a lot of things. Which one do you want to know?"

Riya thought, "Are you playing dumb?"

He thought that he would be able to muddle through by playing dumb.

With a light cough, Riya looked at Stefan and whispered, "You’re not young anymore, right? Look at the three of us. Bruce already has two sons. You, you don’t have any thoughts?"

Stefan looked at her, his eyes shining.

However, he remained to be calm. "Thoughts about what?"

He thought, "My plans have been clear. But you couldn’t see them."

"Stefan, are you pretending to be stupid? You are not a teenager anymore. I don’t believe that your family is not in a hurry and never wanted to introduce a girlfriend to you." Riya growled.

Stefan beca serious. He looked at her and nodded, "They are indeed in a hurry, and they have introduced a girlfriend to . But I am still waiting for her answer."
