Hilla got into the car and looked at Bruce sitting next to her, asked curiously, "You are going with ?"

She could drive there by herself. She was more independent and could take care of herself now.

"Yes, I don’t feel at ease if I don’t go."

Bruce said indifferently, concentrated on the road in front of him.

Hilla pointed to Horton behind him and asked curiously, "Why does he want to go with you?"

She had thought that Horton happened to co over to deliver sothing to her. Indeed, he had just stuffed a large box into the trunk, and she did not know what it was.

Horton smiled calmly under Hilla’s inquiring gaze. That pair of golden-rimd glasses perfectly matched with his reserved air.

Hilla always thought that Horton was gentle, but why she felt creepy now at his smile?

"I’m also taking a day off today. I want to see the countryside. I heard that there are many left-behind elders. I just try to give them so care, as a good deed."

He talked as if he was going to see the patients.

Hilla curled up her lips into a sowhat stiff smile.

She just felt that what Horton said was not the truth.

Bruce drove slowly, and it was already noon when they arrived at the studio.

Halle waited beside the door. She had spent most of her savings to buy this land and build up the house.

It’s rather cheap to build up a house in the countryside. It was a simple two-story building, surrounded by colorful flowers and a vegetable field.

Halle was clearly prepared to live here for a long ti.

The courtyard was delicately decorated. There was a swing and so facilities for the child to play with.

As soon as Hilla entered the yard, she saw a little fellow looking at her with open arms, smiling happily.

This was the first ti Hilla had seen Emily since she ca back from aboard. She usually saw her on the mobile video. Now she suddenly approached, it was obvious that the little fellow found her a little strange.

"How much has she grown?"

Emily was standing in the fence of the courtyard. Halle would bring her out to play if the weather was good.

There was a soft mat on the ground. Although she could not walk on her own, Emily was not idle at all.

"So cute, Emily, I am your auntie."

Looking at the little face, Hilla was excited like a child.

Emily looked very similar to Halle excepted for her slanted eyes. She looked so chubby. Every ti she laughed, she would reveal six teeth, which looked amusing.

"Au ... tie..."

Emily opened her little mouth, and her saliva drooled down. Hilla picked up Emily into her arms.

"Bruce, would you want to have such a cute little girl?"

It was Emily’s first ti seeing Hilla in reality, but she soon beca familiar with her.

On the contrary, she was very interested in her ear chain and kept touching it.

The little guy loved to put everything she find interesting into her mouth. Now it was the sa case with Hilla’s ear chain.

"Bruce, she is gnawing on !"

Hilla couldn’t help but laugh and look embarrassed as Emily’s saliva wetted her face.

But she was more worried that the costics on her face would be harmful to the child. She quickly handed Emily to Halle.

Bruce watched from the side and said, "I want two. One boy and one girl. Both would be cute."

Hilla was stunned and turned to look at Bruce.

This man, who had always been calm and collected, now was quietly looking at Emily in Halle’s arms, with tenderness in his eyes.

Obviously, he liked Emily very much, although he did not ask to hold her in his arms.

Hilla blinked her eyes as she recalled the situation a year ago.

Halle took an apple for Emily and put her back on the fence. She looked at Hilla and said, "Why didn’t you stay in River City for few more days? I haven’t cleaned up here yet."

"It doesn’t matter. I’ll clean up myself. I haven’t seen you and Emily for so long. I want to see you sooner."

Hilla smiled and pulled her luggage into the house happily.

The house looked like a viewing villa. It was very poetic and beautiful. The grape rack in the yard had already grown tender green grapes, which were as clear as green gems.

Halle glanced at Bruce and asked, "Are you willing to send her here so soon?"

"Hilla misses you a lot."

Bruce felt helpless, but he also understood why Hilla was in such a hurry to co to the countryside.

For a year, the sisters had not t. Halle was a single woman with a child, not to ntion that the studio was not built in a very populated place.

It was normal for Hilla to be worried.

"She might not be able to return to River City often. Sorry for you."

Halle smiled embarrassedly. Just as she was about to let Bruce enter the house, she heard dogs barking outside the courtyard.

Cookie and Candy were in the courtyard. She was safe here with them.

Hilla ca out of the house and suddenly thought, "There’s another person outside, and I actually forgot about him."

She was too hurried to see Halle and Emily. Although she had been gone for a year, Cookie and Candy could still recognize her and Bruce, so it didn’t take much effort to co in.

But the one outside was different!

Hilla was a little embarrassed and quickly ran out, afraid that the two strong dogs would bite at people.

As expected, outside the courtyard, Horton was holding a large paper box. He stood at the car door helplessly and nervously. He looked like a big child who was at a loss.

He looked extrely pitiful.

"Sorry."

Hilla pushed Candy and Candy aside and wanted to take the big box from Horton, but Horton dodged.

"It’s heavy, let carry it."

Hilla nodded. She had thought that Horton was unwilling to co in, but he had brought this box. She was a little curious. What did Horton bring?

Could it be arranged by Bruce?

Hilla was still wondering, while Horton walked quickly as he was followed by the two dogs. When Hilla caught up with him, he had already placed the box under a grape rack.

Beside it was Emily’s fence. Horton bent over and looked at the little fellow in the fence, who was trying to gnaw the big apple with her six teeth.

Halle furrowed and pulled Hilla into the room.

"Halle..."

Before Hilla could speak, she was stunned by Halle’s glare. She suddenly thought of sothing and beca so nervous to speak.

She knew that Halle was angry, because Horton should not be here.

...

Hilla lowered her head. Looking at Halle’s displeased expression, she said nervously, "Bruce brought a lot of things. I can’t take them all by myself. Today is Horton’s day off so he ca to help."

"Hilla, I’ve had a peaceful year. I don’t want to get any more trouble." Halle’s voice was a little weak.

She knew that it was selfish of her to deprive Horton’s right as a father, but nothing could be perfect in this world.

If she wasn’t cruel to Horton, the Hutts would be cruel to her.

She just wanted to live a peaceful life. She no longer wished for the love of a family of three.

"Halle, I see. I’ll ask Bruce to take Horton away later. I won’t bring him here again."

She just felt that it had been a year. Since Horton did not know Emily to be his child, Halle could let him see Emily from ti to ti if he wanted to.

It was as a redy for their tragedy. But Halle appeared to be very nervous.

"The Hutts have already talked to . Since I promised them that I would no longer have anything to do with Horton, I will not want more contact with him. Moreover, the Hutts would never accept a woman who had divorced before as Horton’s wife."

This might beco a joke to the Hutt family. Obviously, the Hutts would not let the joke happen.

Halle never thought about marrying into a wealthy family. "I’m sorry, Halle. I won’t let this happen again in the future."

Halle had her own life, and Hilla knew that she couldn’t interfere too much, just like Halle never instructed her how to behave in the Anderson family.

After lunch, Hilla urged Bruce to leave with Horton.

Although she was reluctant to part with Bruce, they had to let Horton go. Within an hour, he was already on good terms with Emily.

Hilla sighed at this instinctive intimacy while worrying that Halle would be too nervous.

"You promised you would co back every Saturday."

Bruce reminded Hilla by her ear. Hilla blushed slightly and then nodded slowly.

She ca to work in the studio because she was worried about Halle and Emily.

Actually, she worked on a rather flexible freelance.

Watching Bruce and Horton leave, Hilla returned to the studio and saw Halle standing in front of the window, looking at the grape trellis in the yard, lost in

thought.

Hilla didn’t disturb her but went into the room.

The studio was full of the design drafts she had sent to Halle over the past year.

So of them had won awards and were made into ready-made clothes by Halle.

Most of them were antique costus of different ages.

Hilla looked at the sewing patterns and embroidery carefully. Happiness surged in her heart. She recalled that her father used to take her to see those beautiful clothes when she was a child.

Since then, she had been interested in those beautiful and delicate designs.

Hilla picked out a moon -white gauze dress with a long smock. When she walked out slowly, the one outside was stunned.

Under the warm light, Hilla seed to be covered with a ring of halo, like a fairy who had just fallen into the mortal world. She walked out in a graceful gait.

"Halle, what do you think if I wear this set tomorrow..."

Hilla looked up and was stunned when she saw a strange man in the room.

Did she go to the wrong room? How could there be a stranger in their studio?

She would never believe that Halle would invite a man to be her neighbor.

"Hilla, are you Hilla?"

Roger looked at the girl excitedly. He hesitated to step forward but remained at the sa spot awkwardly. He held the corner of his clothes with both hands and smiled foolishly, "I heard you went abroad. I didn’t expect you to co back so soon."

Hilla thought for a long while before she rembered the youth who once helped her when she was about to fall.

However, after a year and more, Roger seed to be a little fatter and stronger.

He no longer looked like a weak and slender teenager, but more like a simple-minded male.

She rembered that the last ti they t did not seem to be very pleasant, but as ti passed, she was still willing to treat him as her friend now they t again.

"You are Roger."

"You still rember ."

Obviously, Hilla’s words made Roger even happier.

Hilla nodded in embarrassnt. In fact, she had almost forgotten him. Luckily his appearance hadn’t changed much in a year. Otherwise, she would not recognize him.

"Why are you here?"

Standing by the side, Hilla tried to make herself less embarrassed.

After all, Roger already looked very nervous. If she didn’t act more naturally, others would think they were strange.

"Oh, I’m here to give Halle waterlons. My family has planted a few acres of waterlons this year. My mother asked to send so here. I didn’t know you had co back. I’ll bring you more waterlons tomorrow."

It was only after Roger said this that Hilla noticed there were indeed six or seven round waterlons on the ground. They were not big, but fresh in this season. They looked delicious.

Hilla waved his hand and said, "Please don’t. These are enough. Halle and I can’t eat so much."

"Are you still angry with , Hilla?"

Roger said nervously, "I kept your Line account. I didn’t delete it. But I didn’t dare to talk to you. I was afraid you had already deleted . I knew last ti I..."

"Don’t ntion the past. By the way, will you sell your waterlon?"

Hilla interrupted Roger’s words while she desperately tried to recall whether she had deleted Roger’s account.

She did not expect to see Roger again. In this situation, she only felt awkward. If Bruce knew about it, he would probably be jealous again.

"Oh, these are not for sale. We give them to our neighbors and villagers. We still have so at ho. I could send you more."

It seed that Roger also had no idea what to talk about, but he was surprised to see Hilla.

But what surprised him even more was that compared to the cute girl in a down jacket a year ago, Hilla looked like a fairy now.

He was srized by this fairy and could not help but stare at her.

The desire that had been deeply suppressed in his heart for the past year began to spark again when he saw Hilla.

He wanted to hold her in his arms.

But Roger quickly cald himself down, and a terrible fact suddenly popped up in his mind.

Hilla was already married, and her husband was very rich!
