The man’s voice was very familiar; it was Lu Jun, the Sales Departnt Manager of the Gu Family.

Lin Qian turned around and glanced at him, seeing him swaggering over with a few employees who were looking forward to watching the drama.

"Clerk?"

He was deliberately reminding her of her status in front of others.

But so what.

She walked the straight and narrow and sat upright, unlike him...

Lu Jun arrived beside Lin Qian, smirking as he sized her up, "Lin Qian, you’re just a clerk after all, but you’ve touched enough n to find yourself a big fish. It’s just a matter of how long you can hold onto this catch!"

His tone was sarcastic, spewing insulting words.

Lin Qian looked at Lu Jun without any expression and, after a mont, suddenly smiled, "People say that those with dark hearts see filth in everything. I didn’t believe it until I t Manager Lu. Manager Lu, you look quite unwell this morning; have you been... entertaining too many guests lately?"

The woman’s smile was a standard professional one, poised and proper, but the words she spoke insinuated sothing entirely different.

Entertaining guests?

A male escort, perhaps?

Several employees exchanged glances with Lu Jun, their faces twisted peculiarly.

Lu Jun’s face changed colors; he hadn’t expected Lin Qian to retaliate in such a way.

She was calling him a male escort?

She was insinuating his promiscuity in male-female relationships!

"Lin Qian, you’re asking for it!"

"Heh, got a guilty conscience, Manager Lu? Let give you a piece of advice; a man should have his pride, don’t think about living off won all your life!"

How he was with other won was none of her business.

But just thinking about his affair with Gu Yan, thinking about Su Yu’an, that innocent and gentle man, Lin Qian felt full of indignation.

"You..."

Lu Jun’s face went through several changes as he clenched his fist and raised his hand.

Lin Qian tilted her chin up high, unafraid as she t Lu Jun’s gaze, a chilly beauty on her delicate face.

Although she was a slender woman, her aura was inexplicably intimidating.

Other employees quickly held back the furious Lu Jun, trying to calm him down.

The atmosphere was tense, and at that mont, a woman’s voice rang out, "What are you all doing here so early in the morning?"

Recognizing it was Gu Yan’s voice, Lin Qian turned to look, and saw Gu Yan walking in arm in arm with a middle-aged man.

The man was around fifty, his well-maintained face still showing the handso and elegant features of his youth.

It was Gu Yan’s biological father, Gu Pinan.

"Chairman, Manager Gu."

Several employees, including Lu Jun, imdiately showed respectful faces, stepping aside and greeting Gu Pinan and Gu Yan.

Lin Qian’s hand unconsciously clenched into a fist, the word ’Dad’ on the tip of her tongue, but seeing the closeness between Gu Yan and Gu Pinan, she ultimately didn’t call out.

He was no longer her father, was he?

She didn’t know if she should call him ’Dad’ in front of everyone.

Afraid of being laughed at for trying to climb the social ladder.

"So it’s Lin Qian who has co? Good morning."

Gu Yan walked up to Lin Qian with a sweet, harmless smile towards her.

"Chairman, Manager Gu, good morning."

Lin Qian’s face adopted a professional smile.

Gu Pinan stopped in front of Lin Qian, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, "Qianqian, we haven’t seen each other in four years. How co you don’t even call Dad anymore?"

A calm yet commanding tone was Gu Pinan’s consistent intonation.

He still regarded her as his daughter.

Lin Qian felt a warmth in her heart and obediently called out, "Dad."

"Mm."

Gu Pinan nodded, "Qianqian, even though you are not my biological daughter, I will still treat you as such. I hope you and Yanyan can beco good sisters, and I hope you co to the Gu Family and help Yanyan manage the company. It’s certainly better than being a counter saleswoman who cannot make a public appearance."

That remark made the warmth in Lin Qian’s heart cool slightly.

She was grateful for Gu Pinan’s kindness, but she would not accept the Gu Family’s charity again.

After all, Gu Yan was not soone with whom she could coexist peacefully.

"No need, Dad, I’m quite satisfied with my current job, and I don’t plan to change it."

Her tone was light but resolute.

Gu Pinan frowned, a clear flicker of surprise crossing his face.

Gu Yan, standing to the side, chuckled secretly, very pleased with Lin Qian’s performance.

Gu Pinan, as a person in a high position, generally did not like others to defy his decisions.

And Lin Qian, refusing Gu Pinan’s offer so bluntly in front of everyone in the hall, undoubtedly displeased him.

At this mont, it would only further highlight her own obedient and sensible deanor.

"Dad, I know you an well, but to each their own. Lin Qian enjoys interacting with all kinds of people; let’s respect her wishes," Gu Yan said, holding Gu Pinan’s hand coyly, "Don’t worry, I will beco good sisters with her. Look, our company’s employee uniforms are about to change, and I specially gave her this order to help her boost her performance."

Her words belittled Lin Qian while elevating herself.

Gu Pinan turned his head to glance at Gu Yan and nodded with satisfaction.

After all, she was his biological daughter, a child worth teaching.

Unlike so people...

His gaze landed again on Lin Qian across from him, and Gu Pinan sighed, "Qianqian, no matter what job you do, rember the teachings Dad once gave you, a woman must respect herself."

Although he did not inquire about certain dostic matters, he knew a bit because of Madam Gu’s nagging.

He hoped she would take good care of herself.

Gu Pinan left first, and Lin Qian did not defend herself.

Because she knew that no matter how much she said, it wouldn’t help with soone who did not believe in her.

Her eyes swept towards the smug face of Gu Yan, and Lin Qian spoke with a professional air, "Manager Gu, can we sign the contract we agreed upon yesterday now?"

"Lin Qian, just because my father allowed you to call him ’Dad,’ don’t you start thinking of yourself as a Gu heiress."

Gu Yan looked down at Lin Qian arrogantly, "Let tell you, my dad just pities you; he can’t bear to see you degrade yourself. But you do have the self-awareness to know that soone of your status is only fit to be a lowly sales clerk!"

Hearing these words, Lin Qian did not get angry, but looked coldly at Gu Yan, her red lips slightly parting, "Manager Gu, there’s no need to emphasize my status repeatedly; it makes you look rather insecure. If I were you, I would focus on cultivating my manners, strive to get closer to the status of a socialite, and definitely not insult soone in front of the employees, lowering my own class."

She owed her nothing and saw no reason to keep enduring Gu Yan’s mockery without retorting!

"You..."

Gu Yan’s face changed colors, speechless before Lin Qian’s composed expression.

This woman was her nesis; she wanted to tear her to pieces!

"Manager Gu, don’t be angry, don’t stoop to the level of a sales clerk."

Lu Jun glared fiercely at Lin Qian and exchanged a glance with Gu Yan.

Gu Yan understood all too well and barely suppressed the frustration in her heart, giving Lin Qian a sideward glance, "Indeed, as a Gu heiress, I shouldn’t get upset with a sales clerk! Alright, take Lin Qian upstairs and have Liu coordinate with her to finalize the detailed contract."

Lin Qian, just you wait!

She wouldn’t let her be pleased with herself for long!
