Su Ronggui returned to his room to pack after leaving Su Zhen’s study. There wasn’t much to pack, just a few clothes, so docunts, a laptop, and then there was that drawer.

He unlocked it and slowly pulled it open.

Here lay his secrets, carrying with them twenty years of his life.

A drawer full of vibrant colors and shimring lights, it was the silent turbulence beneath his stagnant life, the rebellious weeds growing freely under his calm exterior, and the dream he could never touch for twenty years, or even forever.

He never thought there would be a day when dreams could co true.

He picked up a red one, held it to the light, and the halo dispersed, revealing fluttering butterflies in the transparent red.

"Bang," soone pushed the door open, "Su Ronggui! Don’t move out!"

He withdrew his hand and imdiately closed the drawer.

Su Rongxing was already standing inside the doorway, his eyes fixed on his drawer.

His face was tinged with a blue hue. "Why didn’t you knock before coming in?"

Su Rongxing’s curiosity about that drawer, developed over ten-plus years, got the better of him. Seeing his expression, words he shouldn’t have said slipped out, "You don’t let in because you don’t want to see your secrets!"

"Get out!" he said.

"I won’t go!" Su Rongxing moved closer, "Su Ronggui, what secrets are you hiding from ? I have no secrets from you! Except... except for one..." Her face showed a rare difficulty to speak. "Otherwise, let’s trade. You let see what’s in the drawer, and I’ll tell you my secret."

"I don’t need to know your secret!" he stated emphatically. "You go out first."

"You..." Su Rongxing stomped her foot. "I just won’t go out!" Not going out ans you won’t pack? If you don’t pack, you won’t leave? That’s perfect!

He said nothing and directly reopened the drawer.

Imdiately, Su Rongxing’s eyes widened as she watched him dump the entire drawer’s contents into the suitcase and then close it. What kind of ss was in that drawer? The most striking was at least half a drawer of hair clips! Multicolored, in various materials and styles! She even thought it was so kind of treasure!

"Whose are these?" she asked, trembling.

Clearly, Su Ronggui didn’t intend to tell her.

"Were they given by a girl? Which girl? A female classmate?" She didn’t recall Su Ronggui interacting with any girls; ever since he ca to the Su family, he always kept to himself.

Suddenly, she rembered that every ti Su Ronggui ca back from a trip, he’d bring her gifts. Once, while he was still unpacking, she took the initiative to rummage through his luggage and found a hair clip, small and unremarkable, looking cheap. She thought it was for her, disliked it, and threw it back, indicating she didn’t want it. Later, Su Ronggui coaxed her and gave her another exquisite and expensive gift, which made her happy again. So, that hair clip wasn’t for her...

She also recalled that when she dragged Su Ronggui along with her shopping, he would always stand at the hairclips counter in accessory shops...

"Su Ronggui! Do you have a girl you like?" She clutched his arm, teary-eyed. "Or are they pestering you? Are those shaless girls outside pestering you?"

Su Ronggui pulled his arm free, grabbed the suitcase, and strode towards the door.

"Su Ronggui! You’re not allowed to leave!" She chased after him.

"Where to?" A voice scolded from the staircase, and Shang Qingi blocked his way.

"Su Ronggui is moving out! Auntie, don’t let him go!" Su Rongxing ran to Shang Qingi’s side, as if she had found a savior as she always did.

"Ronggui! What’s going on?" Shang Qingi’s face imdiately hardened, foreboding a storm.

Su Ronggui looked ahead, his gaze seed to fall on her face or perhaps seeing sothing far beyond her. "Mom, I plan to move in with Grandma."

Shang Qingi was furious and seed ready to explode, but before she could speak, Su Ronggui quickly said, "I spoke with Dad. He said he had no objections."

Shang Qingi was rendered speechless by this. "So you went to your dad’s study to talk about this?"

"Yes. Grandma’s getting old; it’s not suitable for her to live alone. ’Honor the aged in one’s family; one should also honor the aged of others.’ Dad always shows kindness to strangers. How could he not support in fulfilling filial responsibilities?"

Shang Qingi was so angry that she nodded repeatedly. "Fine, very good! You’ve learned to use your dad to suppress ! Fulfilling filial duties, huh? You understand how to be filial, do you? Then who should be the first person you show filial respect to? Who gave you life, nurtured you, clothed, and fed you? Who gave you education? Is it or your grandma? To whom should you show filial respect?"

"Mom." He closed his eyes briefly, then opened them again. "I’ve never said I wouldn’t be filial to you. I will always be your son, and that will never change. I’m just moving out; isn’t it true that fledglings eventually leave the nest? Even if we don’t live together, I can still be filial to you, be good to you. Moreover, Grandma is now older and needs more care. I was raised by you; the lovely virtues you instilled in don’t allow to leave an elderly person alone! Don’t you agree?"

"..." Shang Qingi was montarily speechless, but her anger only deepened, as she repeated "good" several tis. "Very good indeed, using what I taught you against ! I’ve raised a good son! No need to say more! My final word, I do not agree to the move!"

Su Ronggui looked at the person in front of him, lightly "ha" a sound, the grip on the suitcase handle growing tighter. "Rongxing, go back to your room."

"Why? I won’t..." Su Rongxing edged closer to Shang Qingi.

Shang Qingi, always the one to back up Su Rongxing, imdiately spoke, "What’s there to avoid? Rongxing stays here."

He wasn’t intimidated, "As you wish, I was rely trying to preserve so dignity for you."

Shang Qingi’s face changed, trying to maintain her composure. "Rongxing, go back to your room."

"I..." Su Rongxing usually didn’t listen to her, but now she had another idea. "Alright, I’ll go back to my room. Auntie, you must stop him."

Having said that, Su Rongxing went upstairs, but hid at the corner of the second floor, eavesdropping intently.

"What? Do you have sothing over ? Have you learned to blackmail your own mother now? Unfilial son!" She was truly speaking through gritted teeth by the end.

Unfilial son?

Su Ronggui’s heart felt a chill. "Mom, you went to see Grandma. What did you say to her? I can’t understand why you’d be so harsh to an elderly person. The Su family cannot tolerate any blemish and certainly wouldn’t want news of the matriarch’s abuse of the elderly breaking out one day..."

"Smack"! Before he finished his sentence, another slap landed on his face.

"Well done, you! Really threatening now? I must have been out of my mind to send you to study journalism! Now that you’re a famous journalist, you want to expose your own mother, is that it? Your education is remarkable! The filial piety you speak of is also impressive!"
