He didn’t let go.

"Su Ronggui!" A sharp voice suddenly pierced the air, "Why are you here with her?"

Tu Hengsha seized the opportunity to stomp on his foot, escaped, and ran upstairs. Hao Ren followed closely behind her, taking the stairs two at a ti.

Su Rongxing stepped in front of her stepbrother, glaring and demanding, "Su Ronggui! What do you have to say to her?"

"What do you think?" His tone wasn’t friendly, hard and heavy.

Su Rongxing couldn’t bear him speaking to her like that; her domineering nature instinctively flared up, "How would I know? I forbid you to speak to her!"

"You don’t know? You don’t know what you did yourself?"

His voice suddenly rose, severe and intimidating, causing Su Rongxing to shudder.

"Su Rongxing, let this be the last ti!" He pushed her aside and headed downstairs.

"Where are you going? Su Ronggui, where are you going?" This was the second ti she’d seen this side of Su Ronggui. The first ti had been when she secretly opened his locked drawer. That ti, he had made her understand he had boundaries she couldn’t cross, but for over a decade afterward, he had been indulgent and pampered her excessively, making her nearly forget that initial confrontation. Now, she suddenly rembered: Su Ronggui’s boundaries were untouchable. But this ti, what exactly was his boundary? Was it just because she had extracted data from Tu Hengsha’s computer without his consent and bypassed him to go directly to the editor-in-chief?

She chased after him, "Su Ronggui! Am I wrong? I was wrong! Don’t go! Your hand is injured; without driving you, you can’t go anywhere! Wait for !"

Su Ronggui didn’t wait for her; instead, he walked faster.

After chasing for a while, she angrily stomped her foot. Was it really necessary to get so angry over such a trivial matter?

She fud and went back.

It wasn’t until the afternoon when work started that Su Ronggui returned, silently typing on his computer with one hand once he was back.

Su Rongxing squird in her chair, ultimately holding herself back from speaking to him first. Treating her like this? She refused to pay him any attention! She would go back and tell their mother! So after work, she drove off by herself, not waiting for Su Ronggui.

When Tu Hengsha and Hao Ren ca out of the newspaper office together, they saw Su Ronggui standing by the roadside waiting for a car. The Chinese scholar tree towered thickly overhead, obscuring the sky above him and casting shadows. He stood there with an injured arm, clothed in black, in silent parallel with the tree trunk beside him. All around, cars thronged by continuously; under the setting sun, his quiet, elongated silhouette seed small and lonely against the backdrop of the towering trees and the bustling world.

Tu Hengsha glanced at him briefly before shifting her gaze, but she had to pass by where he stood if she wanted to take the subway. Avoiding him didn’t seem necessary; after all, there was no specific reason to hide.

"Do you want to accompany you to the subway?" Hao Ren, a single man living in a rented apartnt nearby the newspaper office in the opposite direction, within walking distance of the subway station, offered.

"No need! You go ho." Tu Hengsha didn’t want to trouble him unnecessarily.

Hao Ren always believed in Su Ronggui’s character, and with Su Rongxing not around, there wasn’t much to worry about. "Alright, then I’ll head back. See you tomorrow!"

"Mm! Rember to apply the dicine again in the evening!" Tu Hengsha reminded him.

"Got it, got it!" Hao Ren’s response was clearly perfunctory.

"Don’t be so careless! Be careful, or it’ll scar and ruin your appearance! Then you’ll have trouble finding a girlfriend!" she admonished again.

"Sure!" Hao Ren was already turning away, raising his hand in acknowledgnt under the night sky as he walked off.

With such a loud voice, how could it not catch the attention of the person standing under the tree?

When Tu Hengsha turned back, he was there, looking at her from under the tree.

Naturally, she saw him too.
