It was indeed quite a distance from the intersection to the mine area, and with the mountains stretching endlessly along the way, he really couldn’t tell in which nook Sun Yulin might hide her.
He was actually quite familiar with the mining area; after spending several days here, while not finding the main target Sun Yulin, he had asured each peak with his footsteps.
He drove and investigated along the way, passing one mountain after another.
The drive so far was surprisingly smooth, with no obstacles on the road. He then realized that such smoothness must surely hide a trap, rely leading him to drive further ahead—so he would proceed as Sun Yulin desired and continue driving forward!
Who knew that this fool would actually manage to run out on her own and almost crash into the front of his car!
He broke into a cold sweat from the shock! How fast had he been driving then! From a distance, he saw a staggering figure and slamd on the brakes, yet the car still skidded a long way! Thankfully, he didn’t hit her!
What followed was a fierce battle.
Those people had caught up! He didn’t even have ti to call 120 for ergency rescue! Holding her, he jumped into the car. Almost as soon as the doors were shut, they were already inches away.
He imdiately turned the car around and drove back, their vehicles even collided at the rear! He couldn’t afford to care about much else, driving with one hand while stuffing asthma dication into her mouth with the other, because the mont they got off the train in this county, he had prepared asthma dication, even placing so in her room, yet she had noticed nothing!
Worse still, after driving so distance, several cars ca blocking the way! There was absolutely no way to avoid them, and his car crashed directly into theirs. The windshield shattered, and the car body was struck heavily. He turned to shield her unconscious body.
His arm throbbed painfully; his face and head hurt as well, but thankfully, she didn’t suffer any head trauma...
Yet this broken-down car, even after such a collision, could still be driven. Thus, he drove the decrepit vehicle on the road to et the police...
The henchn were all caught, but Sun Yulin wasn’t, and both he and she ended up in the hospital.
"Sir, ti is up."
As countless images spun in his mind, a nurse ca to remind him.
He nodded, said, "Thank you," and walked out of the ICU.
On his way back to his own hospital room, he fished out a candy from his pocket, picked up at the intersection where she was tied.
He squeezed it, unwrapped it, and popped it in his mouth, his tongue gently licking. It was a habit from his childhood, to savor a candy slowly, letting the sweetness linger in his mouth for a long ti.
Yet the taste was sothing that had already been absent from his life for twenty years.
"Su Ronggui!" soone called out to him.
He knew who it was.
He bit down on the candy, lifted his eyes, and there stood Su Rongxing at the entrance of the hospital room, holding a large bouquet of flowers. The crimson roses pricked his eyes slightly; he swallowed the sugary foam in his mouth, feeling not a hint of sweetness.
"Su Ronggui! Are you okay?" Su Rongxing ran over swiftly, trying to embrace him. The barrier of the roses kept them from getting too close, yet seeing his bandaged arm, Su Rongxing was shocked, "It’s this serious!" He spoke as his eyes reddened instantly.
"I’m fine," he smiled faintly.
"You’re saying you’re fine despite this?" Su Rongxing entwined his intact arm, his eyes moist, "And your face, is it going to be disfigured?"
"It’s alright," he said softly.
Su Rongxing leaned on his shoulder, "Even if it really were disfigured..." She stopped halfway and sneaked a glance at him, then pursed her lips and smiled.
Supporting him into the hospital room, she arranged the flowers and returned to advise him, "You, can’t you be less reckless from now on? Everyone at ho is worried sick! Did you forget the year soone put a bounty on you? And now there’s this incident again! You scared to death!"
