"Okay, I will definitely figure it out." Dr. Goodwin quickly nodded, then used tweezers to hold a cotton ball soaked in alcohol to disinfect Seraphina Redgrave’s wound.

Strands of pain eventually seeped through the wound into her brain, and Seraphina clenched her fingers, fighting against the pain.

"Knock, knock."

The door was knocked again.

An anxious voice sounded from outside the door, "Dr. Goodwin, sothing’s wrong! You must co up quickly, Young Master Sterling’s blood pressure suddenly spiked, and he’s muttering nonsense, moving around uncontrollably. In this situation, should we administer a sedative?"

"..."

Why did this suddenly happen?

Seraphina tidied her collar, then pushed Dr. Goodwin, "Don’t worry about for now, go up and see what’s going on."

"..."

Dr. Goodwin was indeed anxious as well, ignoring Seraphina’s injury, he imdiately went upstairs.

The door was closed tightly again. Seraphina sat on the stool, slowly clenching her fists, deeply worried. Her palm strained, causing the scar on her wrist from the handcuffs to split open, oozing blood.

He will be fine.

Thinking so, just a few seconds later, Nanny Lynch’s voice ca from outside, very anxious, "Miss, sothing’s wrong, miss, you must go see Young Master Sterling, he, he seems to be in critical condition."

The tense string in her mind snapped suddenly, Seraphina’s pupils constricted, her vision blurring.

Only when Nanny Lynch rushed in did Seraphina co back to her senses, she rose abruptly and dashed outside.

She quickly ran upstairs, breathlessly pushed open the door, the sounds of various instrunts and the urgent voices of the doctors overlapped, creating a noise that irritated her.

They surrounded Ethan Sterling’s bed, trying to save him.

Soone recognized Seraphina as the death row inmate, and froze with shock.

Seraphina ignored their shock, plunged to the bedside, and saw Ethan, his face a ghastly blue. His eyes were tightly closed but his eyeballs were moving, his cracked lips muttering sothing.

Dr. Goodwin was injecting dication into a vein in his arm.

But Ethan was completely uncontrollable now, his hand flailed wildly, knocking the syringe away imdiately.

An unknown instrunt beside rang incessantly, with data climbing continuously.

"Hold him down! Restrain him!"

Seeing the stunned dical staff, Dr. Goodwin angrily shouted.

Shocked by Seraphina’s presence, the dical staff finally ca to their senses, each rushing to restrain Ethan, pinning down his still wildly flailing hand, accidentally pressing on his fingernail-less index finger.

Ethan groaned in pain, his eyeballs moved faster, and his resistance beca more intense.

"Be gentle!" Seraphina’s voice was cold, glaring directly.

Intimidated by her gaze, the dical staff instinctively gentled their actions.

How odd, how could a death row inmate have such a sharp gaze?

Seraphina took out a clean towel, squatted beside him, wanting to wipe the dense sweat from his forehead, but as she approached, she heard Ethan calling her na.

"Seraphina, Seraphina, Seraphina..."

Each call was urgent.

"I’m here, Ethan, I’m right by your side."

Seraphina set the towel aside, clasped his hand, placing her face in his palm.

As soon as he heard her voice, Ethan’s agitation soothed, his body stopped struggling so violently, but his hand held Seraphina tightly, as if wanting to crush her into his bones.

Seeing this, Dr. Goodwin, who was extrely anxious, finally breathed a sigh of relief. He looked at Seraphina, indicating for her to continue talking.

Perhaps in this world, only Seraphina could calm him down.

After the earlier worry, Seraphina’s body was utterly exhausted, even squatting was hard, so she sat back on her heels, clutching Ethan’s hand tightly, leaning by his ear, wanting to speak to him, but she first heard him say: "Wait for , hold on."

"..."

Seraphina’s heart ached, so he still thought he was on the smuggler ship?

"Please, wait for to return, hang in there, okay? I’ll be back to save you soon, I can give you everything you want."

Ethan desperately held her hand, muttering words of plea.

Humbly to the dust.

"I’m not dead, Ethan, wake up, because of you, I was rescued, I’m still alive."

Seraphina spoke into his ear, her voice trembling, her eyes and nose stinging to the extre.

"I beg you, really, Seraphina, I beg you..."

Ethan’s words were incoherent now, but Seraphina could still hear his plea, he was begging her to hold on, to wait for him, begging her not to die.

"Ethan, listen to , you are back, you saved , you are not on the smuggler ship, we are in our ho."

She kept saying this.

Ethan kept pleading, so she repeated it over and over to him.

In the end, whether it was Seraphina’s words or Dr. Goodwin’s treatnt, Ethan’s emotions finally cald down.

Dr. Goodwin led the rest of the dical staff out, leaving Ethan and Seraphina alone in the room.

Ethan lay quietly on the bed.

Seraphina leaned weakly by the bed, listening to the rhythmic beeping of the instrunts, staring out the window, maintaining this state for a long ti.

Back on Veridian Isle, an elder once told her, people’s nightmares are usually painful, fearful mories.

The more it is like this, the more easily people get trapped, sinking deeper.

No one knows what Ethan experienced during over twenty hours on the smuggling ship, but she could guess, he must have been utterly desperate, to continually recall it even in dreams.

She leaned her head back, touched Ethan’s hand, which gave her reassurance.

Too exhausted, she unknowingly fell into a deep sleep.

...

When Seraphina woke up, Ethan was still asleep, so she called Dr. Goodwin in to check on him and left the villa herself.

After this incident, those who knew a bit of the inside story didn’t dare stop Seraphina, whether she was coming or going, they didn’t dare have an opinion.

Seraphina walked on a small forest path, dirt and fallen leaves clinging to her feet. She crossed the woods and ca to a small stream’s bank.

In the clear stream, she could see little fish swimming happily.

She stood there, gently touched her still aching left shoulder, and softly called: "Hector Shaw."
