Ethan Sterling held her, striding out. The ard n around didn’t dare to harm him, rely watching him walk away.

They actually let Ethan Sterling clear a path just like that.

Seraphina Redgrave leaned obediently against his chest, her ear catching the sound of his heartbeat gradually calming.

Forget it.

At this point, pushing him away seed to have no other impact than causing him harm.

"Ethan!"

Miles Harrington approached with a complex expression, blocking Ethan’s path directly. "Can you stop acting recklessly? It’s already ti for the execution, but Seraphina hasn’t arrived yet. Surely there are tycoons on their way here. How will you explain what you’ve done if they see you like this?"

Holding Seraphina, Ethan’s face remained expressionless. He rely raised an eyebrow at the words, "Since when do they have the right to demand an explanation from ?"

"Ethan! Are you crazy? Have you forgotten how you obtained everything today? Are you really going to give it all up for a woman?" Miles couldn’t understand why Ethan was willing to abandon everything he had for a woman.

"Heh, as for your account, I’ve rembered it clearly. I’ll deal with you in a couple of days. Now, move aside."

Ethan’s voice was devoid of emotion.

A short distance ahead, Ethan’s n knelt on one knee, heads lowered, awaiting his rebuke.

But Ethan didn’t spare them a glance, walking past expressionlessly as if they were strangers.

"Are you not afraid of teaming up with your father?" Miles Harrington’s face turned extrely unpleasant; he didn’t want it to co to that.

However, Ethan didn’t seem to care and continued forward, ignoring Miles’s threat.

Miles clenched his fists, feeling fury churn inside him.

"Detain them! No guns allowed," Miles shouted.

From the injuries seen earlier on Ethan, he probably couldn’t hold on for long.

Hearing this, Ethan’s n imdiately stood up, positioning themselves behind him. Their eyes were fixed intently on Miles.

"President, do we really have to beco enemies?"

Now that Ethan was back, Nathan Ayers couldn’t continue supporting Miles Harrington.

Even if it cost him his life, he had to protect Ethan.

Seeing Nathan’s stance, Miles shouted, "Nathan, are you also going to ss around? Think about the bigger picture!"

Suddenly, several vehicles burst in from afar, silencing Miles.

Countless muscular n jumped out of the cars, wearing masks and sunglasses, making their identities unrecognizable.

These n fired their guns at the ground in front, aiming to force The Directorate’s n back.

Next, they surrounded Nathan, Ethan, and Seraphina, guns at the ready, clearly intent on protecting Ethan at all costs.

"What is this?"

Miles was dumbfounded, unable to even utter a curse word.

Who could tell him where these people ca from?

"..."

In the distance, mbers of The Defiance Society hiding in the woods looked at the standoff, exchanging looks.

The Directorate, President, Ethan Sterling, masked n — four forces facing off.

And they were all holding guns, unlike them, who only wielded bare sticks — could those even be considered weapons?

They seed like re bystanders, not here for a rescue.

"Who are you?"

Nathan Ayers asked quietly.

The lead man raised a black submachine gun, his voice arrogant, "The feud between the President and Mr. Sterling has nothing to do with , nor do I wish to ddle. But, I will be taking Seraphina Redgrave away today."

Hector Shaw.

Seraphina recognized his voice, lips pursed tightly; why was he here too?

She turned to look at Ethan, noticing his face even paler than before, as if about to collapse.

However, upon hearing these words, he shed his dejected deanor, looking coldly at the speaker.

Silence.

The scene was deathly silent.

Miles Harrington was honestly exasperated, closing his eyes amidst the unyielding factions, and shouted loudly, "Fine, fine, so everyone wants to fight, alright then, fight! Start shooting!"

As soon as the words fell, gunfire erupted.

This was real gunfire, more thrilling than anything seen on television.

Hector Shaw’s n began fighting with the agents of The Directorate.

The scene was a complete ss.

Nathan Ayers had no choice but to order his n to aim their guns, ensuring Ethan and Seraphina’s protection no matter what.

The gunfire startled animals in the woods, sending them scurrying in all directions.

Claire Ford watched the intense battle between the factions in front, fearfully hiding behind Rory and the others, unable to help remarking, "This law that allows gun ownership in our country really is bad."

If lives were lost, how terrible that would be.

"..."

Beatrice Fawcett gave her a slightly exasperated look; in a ti like this, she was still thinking about that.

Amidst the gunfire, Seraphina felt the man holding her stagger back slightly. When she looked up, she t the man’s eyes, red as if about to bleed.

Her heart ached, and she couldn’t help but say, "Put down first."

"Who?"

Even though Ethan’s arms were weak and trembling, he gritted his teeth and held Seraphina securely.

She knew what Ethan ant by his question and, inexplicably feeling guilty, replied, "It’s Hector Shaw."

As expected, as soon as Seraphina said it, Ethan’s expression turned dark. His bloodshot eyes glanced at the leading person over there. They had really gone to great lengths, coming all the way from the south.

"Tell him to scram."

Did his woman need other n for protection? Since when was Hector stronger than him?

Seraphina noticed the man’s intense jealousy, a fresh stream of blood seeping from her lips. She frowned, "Then put down first."

"..."

Ethan, unwilling to let go, tightened his grip around her.

eting her gaze, Ethan had no choice but finally and reluctantly put Seraphina down.

"Stand here," he instructed.

Seraphina commanded him and then turned towards the direction of the prisoner vehicle. Her legs were weak.

But she feared Ethan might do sothing crazy if he saw, so she forced herself to endure and hide any signs of weakness.

Reaching the car, she mustered all her strength to open the driver’s door, then grabbed the built-in gaphone and shouted strongly into it, "Stop!"

Cutting through the gunfire, her hoarse yet firm voice sounded.

Hector Shaw raised his hand, signaling his n to cease shooting.

Nathan Ayers and his forces also stopped firing.

The Directorate’s n easily recognized whose voice it was, and upon hearing the order, they halted their actions montarily.
