Upon hearing this, Selena Quinn felt a sense of foreboding and hurriedly headed to the office.

As soon as she opened the door, the scene in the office nearly made her faint.

All her colleagues were gathered around Seraphina Redgrave’s desk, showering her with concern and affection.

The exclusion she had been expecting wasn’t there at all!

"Sue, try this cookie. My boyfriend brought it back from Paris, it’s delicious. Eat more to calm your nerves."

"Wow, normally trying to get a snack from you is like pulling teeth, but now you’re being generous."

"Shouldn’t I be generous? Sue is my lifesaver, after all."

"Quite a quick change of heart there."

"What’s the problem, don’t you like the na Sue?"

"Tsk, not arguing with you. Sue, you’re amazing, catching a snake barehanded. I’ve only seen that on TV!"

"Yeah, you’re like a hero in our office, Sue!"

"Here, use the new pen I bought. It’s great to write with! I highly recomnd it for us who write a lot."

"..."

Everyone was buzzing around Seraphina’s desk, offering their flattery, while Selena Quinn’s eyes practically bulged out.

The people she had spent the whole day trying to win over had all flocked to Seraphina in less than an hour. What was going on?

Seraphina looked up, mockingly gazing at Selena standing at the door, and asked as if oblivious, "I don’t even know why there were so many snakes."

Everyone exchanged looks, an awkward atmosphere spreading throughout the office.

They all pretended not to know, but everyone understood what was going on.

The woman who just tried to steal her files looked regretful and advised Seraphina, "Sue, you’re still a student and don’t know how complicated society can be. Sotis, even if you’re not at fault, people will exclude and bully you for their own benefit. Rember to protect yourself in the future."

She had indeed thought so too.

But now she’d changed her mind.

Seraphina’s eyes fell on Selena, squinting slightly, "Being powerful must be nice, just a look, and you can get others to do your dirty work."

"Sorry Sue, I won’t do this again. I was out of my mind before."

Now she only felt guilt. If she put herself in Seraphina’s position, she might not have saved the person who tried to steal her files.

She wasn’t a good person, but her conscience wasn’t dead yet.

"Rest assured, I would never do anything like that."

Soone spoke up first to state their position.

"Not only that, we’ll also help keep an eye on those with ill intentions."

" too."

"Yeah, count in."

"..."

Everyone was expressing their intentions.

Seraphina saw Selena Quinn swaying slightly, weakly supporting herself against the doorway.

What was going on with these people? Weren’t they all on her side before?

Seraphina’s smile was full of sarcasm. She raised her thumb towards Selena and then slowly turned it downward.

Following Seraphina’s gaze, everyone saw Selena’s pale face, not without so awkwardness.

After all, Seraphina’s incident wasn’t unrelated to Selena.

Though Selena hadn’t directly told others to deal with Seraphina...

Soone broke the awkward silence, "Selena, you’re back. Good thing you weren’t here earlier, the office was swarming with snakes. You would’ve been terrified if they crawled on you."

"Yes, we were all scared out of our wits, let alone you while you’re sick."

"Yeah, oh! It’s ti to clock out, I’m heading ho."

Everyone dispersed, gathering their things to leave.

Selena gritted her teeth, these people had made their stance clear—not daring to offend her, but also not daring to bully Seraphina again.

Fine.

Perfect.

She’d been putting on a show all day for nothing.

As everyone left, Seraphina picked up her bag and walked out, deliberately stopping by Selena, "Tsk, the look on your face right now is like you’ve eaten shit."

Without finishing her sentence, Seraphina walked off.

"?" Selena clutched her chest, furrowing her brows tightly, closing her eyes, and taking deep breaths to calm herself.

Then she finally mustered a smile and walked into the office.

...

It was late at night.

The moon had climbed up the branches.

"Hmm..."

The woman was panting, too exhausted to lift a finger.

Ethan Sterling’s kisses were intense and forceful; Seraphina lay in his arms, letting him have his way.

The loose strands of her hair clung to her forehead, her whole body flushed, her eyes shimring enough to drown Ethan.

"Tired?"

He asked with a lazy, sexy drawl, his Adam’s apple the kind that would drive any woman insane.

"Yeah."

Seraphina responded lazily with her eyes closed.

She prided herself on her stamina, but every ti she got into this bed, she was so tired she couldn’t straighten her back.

"You seed pretty energetic in the office," Ethan toyed with her hair, "but the mont you hit the bed, you’re done for."

Looks like so physical training is in order.

Seraphina lifted her eyes to look at Ethan.

He curled his lips, "Your feat of catching snakes barehanded has spread all over The Law Council, even people from The Presidential Palace know."

"Do you think I should assign so people to specially watch over you?"

"How does even The Presidential Palace know?" Seraphina frowned.

Isn’t The Presidential Palace supposed to focus on national affairs instead of knowing so much about her snake-catching incident?

Ethan seed to have read her mind, "Miles Harrington has plans to have you work for him, so naturally, his subordinates would report to him."

"Will he monitor ?"

She hated being monitored.

Ethan chuckled, "What’s there to monitor about an intern?"

"That’s fine then."

Unless necessary, she didn’t want her purpose for entering The Law Council to be discovered.

"Then how did the rumor spread?"

Seraphina was curious.

Hearing this, Ethan raised his eyebrows and pointed to his lips.

Seraphina, feeling resigned, made an effort to move closer and planted a kiss on his lips.

Just as she was about to pull away, the man pulled her in and dominated her lips before letting go.

"They say since your office is on the ground floor near the bushes, a few small snakes slithered in, scaring everyone half to death. You handled all the snakes barehanded."

So that’s the story being told outside.

Ethan’s tone shifted, "Who let those snakes loose?"

Seraphina turned to look at him, a complexity in her eyes, "Weren’t they just snakes that slipped in from outside?"

Ethan spoke seriously, "That explanation might fool others but not ."

He gazed deeply into her eyes, "Tell , who did it."

Encountering sothing like this on the first day of work, it was clearly a tactic to haze a newcor.
