Chapter 70: Chapter 70 A Conversation_1

Chapter 70

When Ji Hua ntioned Su Wanxia, Mu Yingchen’s hand, holding the coffee, paused for a mont before he nodded expressionlessly, his deep black eyes concealing his emotions.

Seeing Mu Yingchen nod, Ji Hua didn’t say anything more, opened the door, and left. Mu Feng sighed so quietly it was almost inaudible, and followed him out.

With Mu Feng and Ji Hua gone, the office quieted down. Bai Yudie looked at the stunningly handso man beside her, her face blushing. She had waited for so many years and finally, she could be by his side.

Mu Yingchen, however, didn’t notice her behavior. He put down his coffee, stood up, walked over to his desk, pressed the intercom, and spoke indifferently, “Co in!”

Aisha’s voice responded instantly through the phone, “Yes, President Mu.”

Soon after, Aisha knocked on the door and ca in, her eyes full of questions at the sight of Bai Yudie sitting on the sofa.

It was startling for everyone when President Mu returned with her, and her staff had been wildly guessing the woman’s identity. Except for Miss Su, no other woman had been able to stay by President Mu’s side so casually and even remain in the president’s office.

Mu Yingchen raised his hand and pointed at Bai Yudie, “From now on, you’ll be responsible for her.”

Aisha was shocked within. The role of the president’s secretary wasn’t given to just anyone; it was not sothing to be taken casually, and yet President Mu himself had said she should take charge of this person.

“Yes,” Aisha suppressed all her doubts and nodded in response, knowing she had no place to question President Mu’s words.

As Mu Yingchen spoke, Bai Yudie had already stood up from the sofa. After Aisha nodded in agreent, Bai Yudie approached her with a smiling face, her tone gentle, “Hello, I’m Bai Yudie. I look forward to working with you.”

Aisha smiled too, “Hehe, it’s nice to et you. I’m Aisha.”

“Aisha, take her to familiarize herself with the work environnt,” Mu Yingchen instructed.

“Yes,” Aisha answered.

“Brother Chen, I’ll go out first,” Bai Yudie gave Mu Yingchen a soft smile and followed Aisha out.

Aisha, leading the way, was again inwardly surprised. She had actually called President Mu ‘Brother Chen.’ Her background must certainly be more than simple, although Aisha wondered how she compared to Miss Ding.

After she left, Mu Yingchen’s eyes narrowed dangerously, as a conversation from the night before he returned replayed in his mind.

“Yingchen, it’s ti for you to marry.”

“Grandfather, I have my own plans regarding this matter.”

“Don’t tell

you plan to marry that Miss Su?”

“Haven’t you already known?”

“Her background is too ordinary, not fitting to be the Mu Family’s young madam. If you truly like her, I don’t oppose your relationship with her, but the choice for the young madam must be a daughter from the Bai Family.”

“Grandfather, the Mu Family has already reached the apex of the pyramid; we don’t need to rely on external forces.”

“Yingchen, rember, only by becoming stronger can the Mu Family continue to hold its position as the Asian leader!”

“I can do it with my own abilities, without needing to turn marriage into a transaction…”

“Yingchen, I have never doubted your capability. I’m doing this for the long-term foundation of the Mu Family. Rest assured, the Bai Family’s daughter is gentle and pretty, you will like her eventually.”

“Grandfather, on other matters, I can agree, but not this one!”

“You—sigh, you’re as stubborn as your father, down to your bones. Alright then, let the Bai Family’s daughter stay by your side for a year. If you still don’t like her, I won’t force you anymore. Think of it as giving an explanation to the Bai Family, as it’s a promise the Mu Family owes the Bai Family.”

“No, I won’t keep such a person by my side.”

“You, you—-”

“Grandfather, it’s still the sa sentence, anything else is possible, but not this matter.”

“Are you unwilling or scared? If you don’t like her, what can change if she stays by your side for a year? And if after a year you still like that Su Family girl, then Grandfather won’t oppose it any longer. If Grandfather steps in to decide for you, you can marry her, and no one else will dare object—-”

Mu Yingchen’s eyes flashed with a complex expression, then he walked over to the desk and opened a drawer, but the docunt was no longer there.

Actually, he had carefully read the docunt on the very day she handed it to him. It was very good. His reason for not replying to her was simply that he wanted her to co looking for him a few more tis.

He raised his hand to press the button on the dedicated phone, “Notify all departnt heads to gather in the eting room at ten-thirty.”

“Yes, President Mu.”

That day, Su Wanxia’s spirit was sowhat absent. She hadn’t even stepped out of her office door, fearful that once she did, she would hear so comnts she didn’t want to hear. Her lunch was still brought back by ng Can.

Because she planned to complete all work related to the Bali Island project within two months, she was busy until nine o’clock that day.

She couldn’t concentrate on her work during the day, but when it got dark, for so reason, her heart inexplicably cald down, and before she knew it, it was already nine o’clock.

Su Wanxia stood up, rubbed her sowhat sore temples, tidied up her things, and walked towards the office door.

At that mont, the vast office was utterly silent, the lights in the other offices were all extinguished, only the hall was still illuminated with a soft glow.

Her high heels echoed in the empty office, and suddenly, the sound stopped, Su Wanxia stood rigid in place.

She clenched the handbag in her hand, tightened her throat, and her heart trembled at the sight of the tall and handso figure.

Now faced with him again, she didn’t know what to say. Suddenly, she felt that the distance between them had grown far beyond her imagination; seemingly within reach, yet so remotely elusive.

Every ti she mustered the courage to move a step closer to him, fate would pull her even farther away from him.

Mu Yingchen gazed at the frozen Su Wanxia, a flicker of anger crossing his heart. So long without seeing him, yet he didn’t see a hint of joy in her eyes. Was he being presumptuous again this ti?

Neither of them spoke, simply watching each other in silence—-

After a long while, Su Wanxia couldn’t stand the sowhat eerie atmosphere anymore. Seeing him reminded her of the words she heard that day. Despite the pain in her heart, she felt a sense of relief.

She perhaps shouldn’t entangle with him any longer. This love that had ended six years ago shouldn’t continue. Since he had brought back soone else, it was ti to completely end things with him!

Su Wanxia diverted her gaze, walking past Mu Yingchen with graceful composure—-

Mu Yingchen narrowed his eyes; she was actually ignoring his presence!

Just as Su Wanxia was passing by him, he suddenly reached out and grabbed her arm.

“Su Wanxia!” He was exasperated, truly about to be driven to madness by her. Not seeing her was torture, and seeing her was still torture.

Su Wanxia was pulled around by his force, starting to struggle, but the more she struggled, the tighter Mu Yingchen gripped, leaving her wrist red.

“What are you doing?” Su Wanxia’s voice choked up, finally shouting out loud at Mu Yingchen.

Mu Yingchen’s eyes deepened, and suddenly, he lowered his head and sealed those cherry-blossom-like red lips.
