Chapter 60: Chapter 60 Mu Yingchen, What Are You Doing?_1
Su Wanxia remained silent in place for a long ti, then pursed her lips, and looked at Fang Shuyuan with so apology, “Shuyuan, I’ve always treated you like a brother.” As the words left her mouth, there was both joy and disappointnt.
Mu Yingchen’s heart, which had been hanging in midair, finally settled back into place; at least she had outright refused, could that an there was still a place for him in her heart?
Yet, the hope in Fang Shuyuan’s eyes turned instantly into disappointnt. She had still rejected him, unwilling to give even a glimr of hope.
“Wanxia, I’m sorry, I was too forward tonight,” he said.
“Hehe, it’s okay, Shuyuan. I hope you can find your happiness soon,” Su Wanxia was also a bit embarrassed.
Fang Shuyuan looked at the captivating woman in front of him and nodded, “I hope so.”
“Then I’m going back.”
“Hmm, be careful on the road.”
Driving her car towards ho, Su Wanxia left while Mu Yingchen, waiting for Fang Shuyuan to leave, then stared complexly towards the direction in which he had vanished.
The phrase “childhood friends” replayed constantly in his head, and he had to admit, it really bothered him that such a person existed in her life.
He picked up his phone, and as soon as it was answered, “Mu Shao.”
“Investigate soone for , thoroughly,” he instructed.
“Yes.”
——
Suddenly, the wedding day for Kang Xiaolan and Mu Feng was drawing near, and these days Mu Feng’s shadow was hardly seen in the company.
Ji Hua and Mu Chuyang were exhausted to death. Among the three people’s workload, Mu Feng and Ji Hua had the most, followed by Mu Chuyang. Now, with Mu Feng absent from the company for ten days or half a month, all his work had fallen on these two unfortunate fellows.
Of course, even with their busy schedules, they weren’t as busy as Mu Yingchen. He was always the busiest one, and without his main general, he was even busier than usual.
Su Wanxia was called out again by Kang Xiaolan to accompany her in trying on wedding dresses, with Yan Yirou also present. Jian Manhui and Gong Yining were also busy with work, so they didn’t co together.
When Kang Xiaolan appeared in a white wedding dress, everyone couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration. It is often said that a woman is most beautiful when she wears a wedding dress, and it really is true.
“Wow, Xiaolan, I never thought you could be this beautiful,” Yan Yirou said the mont she opened her mouth.
Imdiately, she was t with a white-eyed glare from Kang Xiaolan, “Yan Yirou, this beauty is just as gorgeous normally, okay? Should I take that as you being jealous?”
Even Mu Feng’s eyes flashed with amazent, “Very beautiful.”
With Mu Feng’s complint, Kang Xiaolan’s pride was even more evident, grinning so wide she couldn’t close her mouth.
“Tsk tsk, with your husband here to try on wedding dresses with you, why insist on calling us over? Really, total third wheels,” Yan Yirou muttered under her breath.
Upon hearing Yan Yirou’s words, Su Wanxia’s eye twitched, and then she spoke in a pitiful tone, “Yirou, I’ve been a third wheel for a whole month. Saying that makes it hard for .”
“Kang Xiaolan, you’re really harmful; nobody beats you in that, picking on my Wanxia like this.”
“Hey, Yan Yirou, what do you know!”
“Prenatal education!”
“Prenatal education!”
“Prenatal education!”
Kang Xiaolan had barely finished her sentence when Mu Feng, Su Wanxia, and Yan Yirou simultaneously spoke up.
Directly spoken Kang Xiaolan lowered her head in grievance, “Soone just forgot for a mont.”
“Okay, the wedding dress fits well and looks beautiful. Go and change out of it,” Su Wanxia cheerfully said.
Kang Xiaolan happily lifted her head and did another twirl in front of the mirror before going to change her clothes.
Returning to the office in the afternoon, Su Wanxia rembered the materials she had given to Mu Yingchen—he hadn’t said whether they were okay. She had already reviewed the complete architectural blueprints and was waiting for his word. If they were fine, she would continue in this style; if not, she needed to make changes urgently. But he had been silent this whole ti.
After pacing around the office twice, Su Wanxia decided that she should go to him instead. Otherwise, who knew how long she would have to wait?
When she reached the CEO’s office, Aisha, upon seeing Su Wanxia, intended to say that Mr. Mu had instructed that no one was to enter within the hour, but then she thought that Miss Su’s visits usually caused no trouble, so she said nothing.
Su Wanxia didn’t know about this; she knocked twice and pushed the door open.
Mu Yingchen, hearing the knock, instinctively furrowed his brow—hadn’t he told Aisha he was in a eting?
Only after walking in did she realize that Mu Yingchen was in the middle of a video conference, sitting on the sofa. Standing awkwardly in place, she gave a dry laugh and then, feeling anxious, wondered why Aisha hadn’t told her that Mu Yingchen was in a video conference. She knew his habits, and he must have instructed Aisha not to let anyone co in and disturb him.
When Mu Yingchen turned and saw it was her, his furrowed brow relaxed, surprising the high-ranking officials on the screen.
Whenever their Mr. Mu frowned during etings, it ant there was a problem with their work. But in a blink of an eye, Mu Yingchen returned to normal, even looking a bit brighter than before, which settled their hearts. As long as there was no issue with their work, all was well.
Mu Yingchen looked at Su Wanxia’s troubled expression and nonchalantly pointed to the sofa next to him.
Su Wanxia had intended to leave and co back later, but to her surprise, Mu Yingchen actually asked her to sit on the sofa and wait for him. She reluctantly moved to the corner of the sofa and sat down.
The screen was large enough for her to recognize the other party at a glance; they looked like South Koreans.
Her position allowed her to see the people on the screen clearly, but they couldn’t see her.
Mu Yingchen continued to communicate with the people on the other end for nearly twenty minutes before ending the call. They had been speaking Korean, and Su Wanxia, whose Korean was poor, couldn’t understand much. She knew basic Korean, but what they discussed in the eting was beyond her comprehension.
“Um, have you looked over the materials I gave you last ti?” she asked sowhat awkwardly. She had already disturbed his video conference twice and felt quite embarrassed.
But Mu Yingchen didn’t answer, his deep gaze making Su Wanxia feel flustered.
She couldn’t help muttering to herself, why was he staring at her like that? It’s not like she intentionally disturbed his eting.
All of a sudden, Mu Yingchen stood up and approached Su Wanxia, causing her to tense up. His tall figure slowly bent down, his hands on the sofa, effectively enveloping her in his arms.
“What are you doing…” Su Wanxia’s voice was shy, and she glanced up at Mu Yingchen before quickly lowering her head again.
But to her surprise, Mu Yingchen suddenly picked her up, giving her quite a fright.
“Mu Yingchen, what are you doing?” she exclaid.
Mu Yingchen just wouldn’t answer her and carried her toward the resting room.
Seeing that sothing was off, Su Wanxia started to struggle in his arms. “Put
down, I can walk myself.”
Mu Yingchen was already annoyed; this woman didn’t seek him out unless it was for work, and he still had not settled the account with her for the last ti. She was always flirting around, completely indifferent to his feelings.
Although there was indeed nothing between her and that Fang Shuyuan, the more he thought about it, the angrier he felt. Reaching the bed, he placed Su Wanxia on it.
His voice deep, he pointed to the two boxes on the bed: “Try on the clothes, see if they fit.”
