Chapter 54: Chapter 54 The Person Trapped by Love_1
“Happiness is sothing you have to fight for, Xiaolan, and I hope you find it,” Su Wanxia said softly to Kang Xiaolan, hoping that everyone around her could find their own happiness.
Kang Xiaolan was also lying on the rocking chair, murmuring, “Wanxia, sotis loving soone is exhausting, but I am willing to do anything for him,” she let out a dry laugh and turned her head to look at Su Wanxia beside her, “Am I being silly?”
“Falling for a man who loves you back isn’t silly,” Su Wanxia gave her a glance. Another person trapped by love, huh! Isn’t she the sa?
Then, the topic suddenly changed—
“But then again, aren’t all won in love a bit silly?” Su Wanxia teased.
“There you go, you’re just finding different ways to call
dumb,” Kang Xiaolan retorted.
“Not at all, you said it yourself,” Su Wanxia replied.
“Haha.”
Su Wanxia looked at the side of Kang Xiaolan’s face, which was brimming with a happy smile, and sighed in her heart. What she was lacking now was perhaps the courage she once had!
“By the way, what’s the deal with Ji Hua and Yining? Why have you never ntioned it to
before? It really caught
off guard,” Su Wanxia said with a tone of complaint.
“Ah!” Kang Xiaolan sighed deeply.
“It’s not that we didn’t want to tell you, but Ji Hua is such a jerk!” Kang Xiaolan started to fu at the ntion of it.
Su Wanxia frowned and said, “Hey, you’re pregnant now, don’t get all hot-tempered. Can you keep a stable mood, please?”
“Oh, hehe, I got carried away and forgot,” Kang Xiaolan patted her chest and then touched her flat belly, as if it had slowly beco a habit.
Su Wanxia looked at her sideways, signalling her to continue.
“It’s all because of that jerk Ji Hua, who sweet-talked Yining into his arms and then hopped into bed with another woman, causing Xiaolan to cry for a whole day and night. After that, we didn’t dare to bring up anything related to Ji Hua in front of her,” Kang Xiaolan spoke with indignation.
“Rember the last ti you treated us to a al? Actually, Yining knew that Ji Hua guy would be there, so that’s why she didn’t go.”
So that was it. With Kang Xiaolan’s explanation, Su Wanxia seed to rember the ti she was in the hospital, when Ji Hua and Mu Feng went to see her with Mu Yingchen. Ji Hua had looked triumphant at the ti, but his expression turned odd as soon as she ntioned that the fruit on the table was a gift from Yining. She hadn’t paid much attention to it then, but now that it was brought up, she realized there was more to the story.
“So, what’s the situation with him and Yining now?” To be honest, Su Wanxia was quite worried about Ji Hua and Gong Yining’s status.
“Well, it’s just like that,” Kang Xiaolan indicated with her eyes for Su Wanxia to look across the lawn.
Su Wanxia turned her head and saw Ji Hua still shalessly sticking by Gong Yining’s side, keeping a playful smile regardless of whether Gong Yining paid any attention to him or not.
“It was just a few days ago on your birthday when they t again.”
“Oh, that’s right, they were both there that day,” Su Wanxia now recalled belatedly. The important thing was that night she was startled by Mu Yingchen’s appearance, and then he pulled her out, so she hadn’t thought much of it, and knew little of what happened at the party.
“Now he’s desperately trying to woo Yining again, who knows how long his affections will last!” Kang Xiaolan said with annoyance.
Su Wanxia unconsciously nodded. It was clear that Yining was deeply in love with Ji Hua. If the two of them were to get together again, it would be best if Ji Hua could settle down. If he continued to be like before, changing won every few days, it would be better to rip off the bandage quickly. Moving on separately could minimize the hurt.
While the two of them were discussing back and forth, Gong Yining was already walking in their direction, with Ji Hua following her like a persistent shadow.
“Yining,” Su Wanxia reached out to hand Gong Yining a bottle of water.
“Thank you.”
“How co nobody handed
a bottle of water?” Ji Hua complained in a low voice, trailing behind Gong Yining.
“Yo, when did Director Ji beco our Yining’s little follower? This is truly an eye-opener for ,” Kang Xiaolan said with a drawn-out tone, exaggerating her words.
Ji Hua grabbed a bottle of water for himself, opened it, and took a sip, “You’re no different from , just another follower.”
“You…” Kang Xiaolan straightened up from the rocking chair, raising her hand and glaring at Ji Hua.
Ji Hua spread his hands towards her, “Did I say sothing wrong?”
“Yining, from now on, you should completely ignore him. His mouth is totally lacking in morals,” Kang Xiaolan suddenly blurted out to Gong Yining, who was sitting silently beside her, then smugly glared at Ji Hua.
“Hey, hey, Kang Xiaolan, that’s not fair. No wonder they say won and small-minded n are the hardest to deal with; today, I’ve really seen it all,” Ji Hua finished speaking and ca up to Gong Yining, grinning, “Xiaoning, you mustn’t listen to her nonsense. I’m very tasteful.”
Gong Yining lifted her eyes to look at the man in front of her, who was nonchalant yet graceful. Her heart felt like a pot of stew—mixing up flavors that were impossible to sort out and clarify.
Seeing that Gong Yining finally gave him a proper look, Ji Hua imdiately broke into a wide smile, revealing his neat white teeth.
Gong Yining was amused by his deanor—not sure whether to feel happy or angry—and finally cracked a smile after maintaining a stern face for the whole morning, grudgingly glaring at him before turning her face away.
“Look, our Yining can’t even be bothered with you,” Kang Xiaolan continued to stir the pot.
But Ji Hua was not angered; he humd at Kang Xiaolan and sat down beside Gong Yining, feeling cheerful inside. At least she was finally willing to look at him properly.
Su Wanxia watched the antics between Kang Xiaolan and Ji Hua, curving her mouth into a smile. The two of them would bow to no one; Ji Hua was known for his sharp tongue, and Kang Xiaolan for her venomous one.
After a while, the rest of the group arrived, and Su Wanxia stood up to hand Mu Yingchen a bottle of water first, followed by a towel, which he accepted with a satisfied smile.
Su Wanxia did not look at him but began handing out water to everyone.
Mu Feng watched everyone with a smile, “I’m picking up the tab today, what does everyone feel like eating?”
“Yo, what’s up today? First, you invite us to play basketball, now you’re treating us to dinner?” Mu Chuyang asked in surprise.
“What, sobody treats you to food, drinks, and fun and you don’t want it?” Mu Feng looked at him.
Mu Chuyang laughed, “That’s not it. I’m just pleasantly surprised.”
Su Wanxia smiled calmly; Mu Feng was excited about becoming a dad.
Mu Yingchen didn’t seem surprised either, naturally sitting down next to Su Wanxia, stealing glances at her from ti to ti.
“Ladies first—whatever we decide to eat today is up to us,” Kang Xiaolan announced loudly.
“We, a bunch of big guys, wouldn’t dream of arguing over this with you girls,” Ji Hua declared.
“Then we won’t be polite. Wanxia, Yirou, Manhui, Yining, let’s discuss what to eat,”
And so, the group began a lively discussion about what to eat. After quite the debate, they decided on Thai food; there was a great Thai Restaurant nearby.
The gentlen very graciously had no objections, completely agreeing. Actually, they completely agreed to what was essentially decided by just Su Wanxia and the girls because all they asked was, “So, shall we go eat Thai food?” Before the guys could respond, the next second, they added, “If you don’t say anything, that ans you agree. Let’s head out then.”
This sort of questioning made Ji Hua and the others twitch at the corner of their mouths. Is this really a question? Seriously, is this supposed to be a question?
