Chapter 38: Chapter 38 Birthday Party 2_1
It turned out they guessed it right; those handso young n indeed had such intentions.
“Such a beautiful lady is hard to find even with a lantern; having her as a girlfriend would be so delightful I’d wake up laughing from my dreams.”
Therefore, they occasionally cast glances at Su Wanxia, thinking of finding an opportune mont to strike up a conversation.
Su Wanxia checked the ti, 7:40 PM, and looked around the banquet, wondering to herself, “It’s about to start, why hasn’t ng Can arrived yet?”
“Wanxia, whom are you looking for?” Kang Xiaolan asked with a curious face.
Su Wanxia retracted her gaze and glanced at her, saying, “A friend, soone I t abroad.”
“So, is he handso or not?” Jian Manhui couldn’t help but butt in.
“Whether he’s handso or not, you’ll see for yourselves when he gets here!” Su Wanxia said, teasingly whetting their appetite with her reply, amidst their curious stares.
“It won’t kill you to spill the beans!” Yan Yirou snorted disdainfully.
“Haha,”
Su Wanxia couldn’t help but laugh and was about to say sothing more to Yan Yirou and the others when she caught sight of a man in a white suit walking in.
She stood up with a smile and told them, “He’s here.”
Then she headed in ng Can’s direction.
With a smile on his face, ng Can greeted the approaching Su Wanxia, “Sumr, happy birthday!”
“Thank you!”
A handso man standing nearby overheard ng Can and raised his eyebrows in surprise, then approached with a smile.
“Excuse , Miss Su, did this gentleman just call you Sumr? Are you the revered ‘Queen of Variation’ designer in the architecture circle?”
Su Wanxia looked at the man who had suddenly co over and paused for a mont. After hearing his words, she reacted and replied with an embarrassed smile, “Hehe, yes.”
“I’m astounded by your talent, Miss Su; truly remarkable,” the man said with a smile. His words were complintary, but Su Wanxia didn’t feel any flattery in his face or tone.
“Heh, not at all, you’re overestimating ,” Su Wanxia modestly replied. Although she wasn’t very good at being humble, she still felt she should show a degree of modesty to strangers.
“You’re too modest, Miss Su,” the man replied, then glanced at ng Can beside her. “This must be your friend. I won’t disturb you further.” He respectfully nodded to ng Can and Su Wanxia and walked away with a smile.
Su Wanxia smiled awkwardly at ng Can, saying, “My dad invited quite a few people today.”
“Yes, I can see that, your dad really adores you.”
“Of course, I’m his only daughter.”
“Yeah, indeed,” ng Can responded with a resigned smile, shaking his head.
“Alright, let’s go, I’ll introduce you to my friends,” Su Wanxia said as she moved towards Yan Yirou and the others.
Yan Yirou and Jian Manhui’s group all craned their necks to look at them.
When they got closer, Yan Yirou exclaid forthrightly, “He’s so handso!”
Su Wanxia gave her a look and then introduced everyone to each other. Since none of them were shy, they all got chatting together after the introductions.
As Su Wanxia was engrossed in conversation with them, Su’s mother approached with a smile, and everyone hastily stood up to greet her.
“Good, good, I’m really happy you all could co to celebrate Xiaxia’s birthday.”
“Auntie, we’ve been best friends with Wanxia since we were kids; how could we not co to her birthday?”
“Indeed,”
“Hehe, continue chatting, I need to take Xiaxia away for a mont,” Su’s mother said.
Everyone nodded in understanding; after all, Su Wanxia was the star of the evening, and she couldn’t just stay and chat with them forever.
Su Wanxia didn’t mind; she didn’t know most of the guests and figured her mother was taking her to mingle and beco acquainted with them.
As expected, Su’s father was happily chatting with a gentleman in his fifties. Seeing her and Su’s mother approaching, he waved at her joyfully.
“Xiaxia, co here, let
introduce you to soone,” Su’s father pulled her to his side.
“This is your Uncle Fang, daddy’s old friend.”
Su Wanxia greeted him politely, “Hello, Uncle Fang!”
“Haha, hello, indeed, girls change so much as they grow. Blink, and Wanxia has grown this much,” the so-called Uncle Fang, Fang Zhen, said amiably.
“Indeed, hasn’t Shuyuan also grown from a little boy into a dashing young man?” Su’s father added.
Su Wanxia not only wondered who this Uncle Fang was, since her dad had never ntioned him before, but also who was Shuyuan?
“Shuyuan, aren’t you going to co and say hello to Wanxia?” Fang Zhen turned and called out to soone behind him.
Only then did Su Wanxia notice that there was soone behind Uncle Fang; she hadn’t paid attention earlier and hadn’t noticed him.
“Wanxia, happy birthday!” When Su Wanxia saw the man’s face clearly, she was montarily stunned. Wasn’t this the sa person from just now?
“Haha, thank you.”
Su’s father seed to sigh, “Your Uncle Fang used to be abroad for many years and has only recently co back. Shuyuan is also in architecture; you two should have a good talk soti.”
A flicker of surprise passed through Su Wanxia’s eyes. So he was also in the architecture circle.
“Yes, we will,” she said.
“As one ages, it’s natural to yearn for one’s hotown,” Fang Zhen remarked nostalgically.
“We must have a good chat soon.”
“Haha, yes, indeed.”
Su Wanxia felt she couldn’t join the conversation, so she just stood quietly by the side.
After a few more pleasantries, they wrapped up the conversation because the party was about to start.
Su’s father and mother went up to the main stage and gave so courteous remarks, thanking everyone for attending their daughter’s birthday party, and so on.
As the main character, Su Wanxia certainly had a few words to say as well.
She stood there elegantly, like a noble princess in her silver high heels.
The crowd couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration, such a rare beauty, ravishing and enchanting.
As Su Wanxia held the microphone, she still felt very moved. Whether their feelings were genuine or feigned, she was happy that so many people had co to celebrate her birthday.
“Thank you all very much for coming to my birthday party.”
“Oh my gosh!”
“Wow!”
Just as Su Wanxia spoke one sentence, a gasp of surprise ca from below the stage.
The slightly crowded crowd reflexively parted to create a path in the middle.
Wanxia’s words suddenly halted, her eyes widened in astonishnt, her heart uncontrollably skipped a beat, and her hands tightened around the microphone, unsure of what to do.
The man in the black suit, noble and aloof, gracefully walked towards her, step by step.
He was like an emperor, who, whenever and wherever he appeared, would catch the eyes of thousands.
When Mu Yingchen reached her side, she still couldn’t accept the reality of his sudden arrival.
The microphone was pulled from her hands—
“Thank you everyone for coming to my girlfriend’s birthday party!” His voice was luxuriously deep and magnetic, but at that mont, it was like a thunderclap that exploded by everyone’s ears!
“Wow—”
Mu Yingchen’s words left the entire crowd in a stunned silence for a long ti.
