Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Shock! The Person in the Photo_1
“Jesse~” she didn’t expect Jesse to see her signature so quickly.
She rembered he wasn’t very used to this app–
“Sumr, it’s so good to be able to contact you,” Jesse said with an unusual exclamation in his voice.
Su Wanxia couldn’t help but smile, “Sorry, I lost my phone recently and just changed my number.”
“I see,” Jesse sighed with relief on the phone.
“What’s wrong? Is sothing the matter?” If it wasn’t, he wouldn’t sound like this.
“Hmm–did you receive the Email I sent you?” Jesse’s tone was heavy.
Su Wanxia frowned, “Sorry, I haven’t checked my mailbox recently.”
Jesse was silent for a long while on the other end of the phone, then said, “Sumr, do you rember last ti I sent you back to China, I ntioned helping to find soone?”
Su Wanxia blinked her eyes and said sowhat awkwardly, “I rember, could that be the photo you sent ?” She recalled Jesse saying that once those people sent him the photo, he would forward it to her to help keep an eye out.
But after she returned, those things happened, and she hadn’t touched her phone or email at all, essentially cutting off contact with the outside world, no wonder he saw it as soon as she sent her signature.
Perhaps he got so anxious looking for her that he downloaded QQ to get in touch with her.
“Yes,” Jesse replied somberly.
“Alright, then I know, I’ll log into my mailbox right now and have a look,” Su Wanxia said as she held her phone in one hand and opened the website in another.
“Sumr!” Jesse suddenly raised his voice, calling out anxiously.
Su Wanxia was puzzled, “What’s wrong, Jesse?” His sudden nervousness startled her.
“First, listen to –” Jesse’s voice held a thread of conflict.
“Jesse, what’s wrong with you?” Su Wanxia couldn’t help but laugh, he seed so off, didn’t he?
But Jesse didn’t answer her question, continuing instead, “I don’t know if sending you this photo is right or wrong, but I think you might find out sooner or later anyway. If that’s the case, I’d rather you see it now and ntally prepare yourself.”
Su Wanxia was completely confused by his words, having no idea what he was talking about or what he ant.
“Jesse, what are you talking about? I don’t understand…”
“You’ll understand after you see it–”
“Hmm, okay, right away, wait for .” She cocked her head and clamped the phone between her shoulder and ear, typing the password with both hands quickly.
“OK,” she picked up the phone with her hand and clicked on the inbox with the mouse.
“Jesse, what does she look like? Is she pretty?” she asked as she searched for the email Jesse had sent.
She hadn’t checked her inbox in so long, there were quite a few emails.
Jesse paused for a mont, then faintly uttered two words: “Pretty.”
“Really? If you think she’s pretty, she must be very pretty–” She stopped mid-word as her voice suddenly cut off!
The phone slipped from her hand onto the computer desk with a clatter, but she seed oblivious, her eyes wide open, staring intently at the photo on the screen!
She incredulously furrowed her brows, a thick sense of horror flashing through her eyes—
Impossible, this can’t be possible—
She never had any siblings, and neither did her mom, she knew this better than anyone else–but–but why did the person in this photo look almost exactly like her? She even bore a greater resemblance to the person in the photo than she did to her mom, and this—was the most unacceptable part to her!
“Sumr! Sumr! Can you hear
talking?” she faintly heard Jesse calling her loudly over the phone.
She stared blankly at the person in the photo for a long while, as if she were looking at herself through a mirror—so familiar, yet tinged with a touch of strangeness.
She picked up the phone from the computer desk in a daze, her voice still laced with disbelief, “Jesse, who is she?” It seed like she was asking Jesse, and at the sa ti, herself.
Who is she? Why does she look so much like , and why does she also resemble my mom by about eighty percent? What is the connection here!
Jesse let out a long sigh on the phone, “I knew for sure you’d have this expression. I was no less shocked than you when I saw it.”
Su Wanxia listened to his words without saying anything, her gaze sowhat nebulous as she looked at the photo displayed on the computer screen.
“She is not the girl we’re looking for; she is that girl’s mother!”
The words from Jesse snapped the tense string in Su Wanxia’s heart—
“The girl’s mother—” she murmured, repeating it.
“Yes, they have never actually seen the girl; they’ve only seen her mother, who is the person in the photo.”
A wave of panic surged in Su Wanxia’s heart–
Why do I have a seventy percent resemblance to my mom but a ninety percent resemblance to the person in the photo, and yet, my mom has an eighty percent resemblance to the person in the photo? What is the reason for this—
She imdiately shook her head in disbelief.
“It’s impossible, it can’t be that we are related to her, Jesse, could those people be so kind of swindlers? With the advanced technology these days, what if it was fabricated? My mom is an only child, and it’s even less likely that I would have other sisters—” she said to Jesse on the phone, her emotions sowhat stirred.
In her heart, she tried hard to convince herself that a single photo couldn’t explain or prove anything. It had to be fake!
“Sumr, don’t get upset, calm down first, and listen to what I have to say,” Jesse’s voice was gentle as he comforted her over the phone.
Su Wanxia’s head throbbed painfully, and she felt a knot in her chest, unsure what to feel.
She took a deep breath, trying her best to relax, then humd in acknowledgnt over the phone.
Hearing her response, Jesse continued, “First of all–I assure you, those people are not swindlers, so the person in the photo really exists.”
Su Wanxia’s hand tightened, but she remained silent.
“Whether or not your mother has other sisters or you have other sisters is just on the surface. To know for sure, we have to ask your mother. If even she doesn’t know, then things could be much more complicated.”
“Moreover, those people made it clear to
that the person in the photo is the girl’s mother, so she can’t possibly be your sister, but is very likely related to your mother.”
“Those people are not to be trifled with, which is why I told you about it. In case they approach you, at least you would already be aware of this and have so ntal preparation. I–I didn’t expect things to be such a coincidence!” Jesse’s voice was filled with incredulity.
At that ti, he just thought she was in China, and the person they were looking for also happened to be Chinese. With her help, maybe the chances of finding them would be greater.
But–he never expected that the odds would be great, but greater beyond his wildest guesses!
