Chapter 138: Chapter 138 Divine Speed_1
None of Su Wanxia and her friends could compete with Jian Manhui when it ca to her logic in love. Kang Xiaolan and Yan Yirou outright accused her of being clueless about romance, wondering how the matter of love could, to her, equate to life-or-death predicants?
An entire afternoon slipped away amid their discussions.
She argued that the ideal husband must be kind to her, that he must be wealthy, and also that he should be so handso as to shake the very earth.
While they were debating how many children it was best to have, Su Wanxia’s phone rang.
Upon seeing the caller ID, she quickly checked the ti, and to her surprise, it was already past six. How had ti flown by so fast?
It was only when she noticed the call was from Mu Yingchen that she suddenly rembered what he’d told her before leaving the parking lot earlier that day.
He’d said he would pick her up from his house in the evening, oh, she’d completely forgotten about that!
She paused for a second and then pressed the answer button.
“Co out, I’m at your door,” ca Mu Yingchen’s gloriously magnetic voice, slowly transferring through the phone.
Su Wanxia gave a dry laugh, lacking confidence, “Heh, well, I’m not ho right now.”
No sooner had she finished speaking than Mu Yingchen asked with confusion, “Then where are you?”
“I’m at Xiaolan’s place.”
“I’ll co pick you up.”
“No need, I drove here myself.”
Mu Yingchen fell silent on the phone for a while, then sounded sowhat petulantly, “I’m at the intersection waiting for you, fifteen minutes.”
Su Wanxia was speechless, fifteen minutes, she wouldn’t make it even if you killed her, especially with the traffic at this hour.
“You think you can make it here from there in fifteen minutes?” she challenged.
“Why not?”
“Alright then, you co over, I’ll just wait here for you, and if I can’t see your car and you in fifteen minutes, I’ll stay at Xiaolan’s tonight.” She just didn’t believe this self-righteous, scheming man could actually make it in fifteen minutes.
“Fine, if I make it, you have to stay by my side for the next two days without leaving,” Mu Yingchen chuckled lightly.
Hearing him so confident, Su Wanxia mulled it over again in her heart. But no matter how she thought about it, she was convinced it would take at least thirty minutes to get from her house to Kang Xiaolan’s.
Fifteen minutes? Impossible—
“Deal!”
“Mhm, it’s six thirty-five now, wait for
at the Feng Family’s main gate at six fifty,” Mu Yingchen spoke casually, as if fifteen minutes really was enough ti for him to arrive.
“Sure,” Su Wanxia agreed easily, but deep down she couldn’t believe he would actually make it.
Just after the call ended, everyone around her looked at her with surprise.
“Wanxia, what were you talking to Mu Yingchen about? With that expression?” Kang Xiaolan inquired.
“He said he could get from my doorstep to here in fifteen minutes, do you all believe that?”
Kang Xiaolan and the others shook their heads in unison.
“Maybe twenty minutes is more feasible.”
“Yeah, fifteen minutes really is a stretch.”
“Ha, it’s the rush hour now; he definitely won’t make it,” Su Wanxia said with a triumphant smile.
“Wanxia, you and your godlike man seem to be doing quite well,” Yan Yirou said with a face full of envy.
“Yeah, who would’ve thought that soone as cold as Mu Yingchen could be won over by you,” Kang Xiaolan said, shaking her head incredulously.
“You know, back in school, why didn’t Mu Yingchen accept the pursuit of other female classmates, causing us to be bossed around by you for so long,” Jian Manhui couldn’t help but feel a sense of imbalance rembering those days.
“Right, it’s quite surprising indeed,” Gong Yining chid in, resting her chin on her hands and looking at the others.
“That just ans he’s not stupid. If he didn’t like , now that would be stupid,” Su Wanxia boasted shalessly, singing her own praises.
“Miss Su, may I ask where your integrity has gone?” Yan Yirou started to tease Su Wanxia.
“If you ask , Mu Yingchen is the silly one for choosing you, the drunken fool, out of everyone.”
As Yan Yirou said this, everyone except Su Wanxia herself burst into hearty laughter.
Su Wanxia glared at Yan Yirou in frustration, she really knew how to hit where it hurt.
After a while, Su Wanxia’s phone rang again.
She picked up her cellphone, her eyebrows lifting in suspicion at the caller ID.
It hadn’t even been fifteen minutes yet. Why was he calling already? Could it be that there was a traffic jam and he couldn’t make it?
With this thought, she couldn’t help but snicker proudly to herself. It must be the case.
“Stuck in traffic?” She answered the call and blurted out her assumption imdiately.
Mu Yingchen paused for a mont, and then laughed freely on the phone: “Co out, I’m at the door.”
“What?” Su Wanxia exclaid in surprise, her eyes wide with disbelief.
“I’m already here. The whole trip should have taken twelve minutes, hurry up and co out.”
Still in disbelief, Su Wanxia asked, “Really?”
“You’ll know if it’s true or not once you co out,” Mu Yingchen teased.
Su Wanxia imdiately stood up with her phone in hand and dashed towards the door.
Kang Xiaolan and the others also rose, following behind Su Wanxia, sowhat skeptical.
Su Wanxia jogged to the door and, upon stepping outside, indeed saw the familiar car quietly parked by the road.
Seeing her erge, Mu Yingchen rolled down the car window and bead a dashing smile at her, obviously taken aback.
His stunning smile set Su Wanxia’s heart racing.
This man, why does he have to smile so beautifully? But she really wanted to know how he did it. Twelve minutes? Could this be the legendary breakneck speed?
She walked down the steps, still sowhat disbelieving, and approached him slowly.
When she reached his car window, she asked with a puzzled face, “How did you get here?”
Mu Yingchen’s lips curved slightly, and with a suggestive glance, he motioned for Su Wanxia to see where he was sitting, and said with a light chuckle, “Just like this.”
“But how could you have arrived so quickly?” Su Wanxia questioned.
“It just was that quick. Co on, get in,” Mu Yingchen refused to reveal why he had been so fast, his face full of indulgent urging for her to get in the car.
“No way, I need to drive my own car back.” Su Wanxia wasn’t about to leave her beloved car behind again.
After a mont’s thought, Mu Yingchen then reluctantly nodded.
Su Wanxia chatted with Kang Xiaolan and the others, equally astonished, for a few monts, then followed Mu Yingchen’s car out in her own vehicle.
She had thought that following him might an they could get to his villa in twelve minutes as well, but the speed was about what she had expected, nearly half an hour in total.
That made her even more confused and frustrated. She thought, if you’re going to lose a bet, at least lose it in a way that makes sense, right? Otherwise, being forced to honor a wager without clear reasoning would just gnaw at her.
The more she thought about it, the more she wanted to know.
Upon arriving at the villa, she got out of the car and imdiately bombarded Mu Yingchen with questions.
“Just tell
about it, will you? Satisfy my curiosity,” Su Wanxia pleaded, tugging at his arm in the manner of an inquisitive child.
Mu Yingchen smiled at her again.
She inwardly sneered: Stop with the electric charm already!
