Chapter 123: Chapter 123: The True Nature of Scheming_1
By the ti she finished tidying up and went downstairs, Mu Yingchen was elegantly perched on the living room sofa with his legs crossed, leisurely flipping through TV channels with the remote in hand.
It seed he heard her coming downstairs and shifted his gaze in her direction.
As Su Wanxia descended the stairs, she silently cursed Mu Yingchen in her mind. Her legs were nearly killing her after climbing so many stairs, and now she had to endure his tornt – all because of him. He was such a jerk!
Caught up in the joy of her ntal rant, she was surprised to turn her head and see him sitting on the sofa, intently gazing at her.
Feeling suddenly guilty, her eyes darted around restlessly.
In her skittish glances, however, she caught sight of sothing that lifted her spirits. The dining table was brimming with an array of colorful dishes, making her eyes sparkle with delight.
Ravenous, she was seriously on the brink of starvation!
She humd softly, ignored Mu Yingchen completely, and made a beeline for the table to fill her stomach first.
Mu Yingchen put down the remote and watched the childishly sulky person before him, his eyes twinkling with amusent as he rose to head towards the dining area.
“Starving, aren’t you?” He chuckled lightly at her sowhat uncouth way of eating.
Su Wanxia snorted to herself. She was this hungry all thanks to him, and now he was pretending to care – how annoying.
Mu Yingchen knew she was still inwardly blaming him, but there was nothing he could do. Every ti he touched her, he’d lose his rationality, he’d beco helpless – he was already trying his best to restrain himself.
“Do you like the food?” he asked again.
Wanxia was enjoying her al. Well, the chef’s cooking was truly delicious.
“Mmm.”
“Then eat more,” Mu Yingchen suggested as he pulled out a chair and sat opposite her.
Suddenly, Wanxia rembered sothing he had said: “Once you’re full, isn’t it my turn to eat?”
Oh no! Her heart skipped a beat in alarm.
Why did that sentence pop into her head? She was beyond help.
Possibly afraid that Mu Yingchen would see sothing off in her deanor, she lowered her head again and started shoveling rice from her bowl.
After eating, Su Wanxia leaned back on the sofa, feeling content and strong. Having energy was wonderful.
Out of nowhere, Mu Yingchen pulled her into his embrace: “Want to go upstairs and rest a bit?”
Su Wanxia instantly beca alert.
“No!” After saying those two words, she suddenly rembered sothing.
“Why didn’t you go to the office today?”
With a teasing glint in his eye, Mu Yingchen uttered to Su Wanxia, “I was too tired last night, so I’m resting today.”
That irked her! Too tired last night, yet so energetic this morning.
Plus, he didn’t look the least bit tired – quite the opposite, in fact. He seed totally refreshed and pleased with himself.
In this mont, she thoroughly saw through his cunning nature.
“Then you go upstairs and rest. Have a good rest today so you can go to work feeling energized tomorrow,” she said through gritted teeth.
“Sure, let’s go together.” Mu Yingchen moved to embrace her as he spoke.
She imdiately stood up from the sofa and ran a couple of ters away, then turned and pointed at him sternly: “You go if you want. I’m not going!”
Chin held high, her resolve was firm.
She wasn’t going to fall for his tricks.
Watching her guarded manner, a gleam flitted across Mu Yingchen’s obsidian-like eyes.
Not good. His woman now looked at him as if he were a wolf – not a good sign.
And that could jeopardize his future happiness.
If Su Wanxia knew what was on his mind now, she’d imdiately retort: In bed, you’re nothing but a wolf in sheep’s clothing!
“So what do you want to do?” he asked, his lips curving into a slight smile, his gaze tender and harmless.
Su Wanxia, suspicious, rolled her eyes: “I want to go ho.”
She hadn’t gone back the previous night, and her parents would be worried if she didn’t return today.
Mu Yingchen heard her say this, and his heart suddenly felt empty.
If only she could think of this place as a ho for him and her, how nice that would be.
“Now the snow is too heavy, and it’s easy to catch a cold if you go out.”
Upon being reminded by Mu Yingchen, Su Wanxia imdiately ran to the door and, through the transparent latticed glass door, her eyes widened with delight.
Such heavy snow. So beautiful…
The outside world was already wrapped in a layer of silvery dress, everything a sheer white.
The fluttering snowflakes at this mont seed like heavenly maidens scattering flowers, endlessly drifting down from the depths of the sky, pure and flawless, sparkling and translucent.
Su Wanxia’s heart was shaken by the beauty of nature, her soul as if cleansed, clear and bright.
She turned around, her smile blooming like a flower as she looked at Mu Yingchen.
“I want to go out and watch the snow.”
Mu Yingchen was startled by her beautiful smile, but her words made him frown involuntarily.
“No, it’s too cold outside; let’s wait until the snow stops before we go out.”
Su Wanxia imdiately looked at him with a grievous gaze, “It won’t be as nice once it stops.”
Mu Yingchen’s expression was still one of disapproval.
“Achen, please go with , please? Let’s go together, okay?” she trotted over to Mu Yingchen and began to act coquettishly while pulling on his arm.
She really wanted to go, really wanted to walk hand in hand with her beloved under the snow-filled sky.
Mu Yingchen’s greatest weaknesses when it ca to her were: pouting and tears.
Su Wanxia had always been like this; whenever Mu Yingchen would not relent, she would use her trump card.
Mu Yingchen would certainly cave in imdiately, raising his hands in surrender.
Now, finally seeing her coy deanor again, how could he bear to refuse her?
He could only nod in agreent.
Before going out, Mu Yingchen bundled her up like a zongzi, a ridiculous three layers inside and three layers outside.
Hat, mask, scarf, gloves, boots.
And a down jacket that reached to her thighs.
She glared dissatisfiedly at the man who was only wearing a single black overcoat.
Why bundle her up so tightly? So unattractive.
Yet he himself, looking dashing, wore just a cool and handy overcoat.
“Let’s go!”
Mu Yingchen, holding her chubby gloved hand, headed towards the door.
Su Wanxia was not pleased.
“Why am I wearing so much, and you so little?”
She was wrapped up like a penguin, both fat and clumsy.
Mu Yingchen looked at her adorably indignant face and laughed softly, “Be good, it’s because I have more stamina than you.”
Su Wanxia was so irritated her temples throbbed. What did this have to do with his stamina?
“I need to cool down.” Mu Yingchen’s ambiguous whisper brushed her ear.
Su Wanxia’s face and neck instantly flushed – if it weren’t for the mask, she surely would have embarrassed herself in front of him again.
He’s so shaless—
Even though she wore a mask, Mu Yingchen knew she understood the implication of his words and was blushing again.
He raised his hand to adjust her hat over her ears and chuckled, “Okay, let’s go.”
Su Wanxia could only give him a scornful look before she was pulled by him towards the door and outside.
