Dean Hale sighed as he spoke, "From talking to her before, based on her understanding of pharmaceutical research, the achievents she will attain in the future will certainly be no less than what she has now."
Mr. Linden was hearing such high praise from his friend for the first ti.
"She is indeed excellent," Mr. Linden said, "But, I reckon she might not be willing to join your dical Institute."
"How could she not be willing?" Dean Hale thought he was joking with him, "If such a promising talent doesn’t join the dical Institute, wouldn’t it be a waste of her brilliance?"
Mr. Linden didn’t argue with him, as whether Ann Vaughn joins the dical Institute wasn’t solely up to Owen Hale; what she thinks is more important.
Mr. Linden emptied his teacup and then pulled a jar out of his bag, uncovering the lid, releasing a rich aroma of herbal liquor.
As soon as Dean Hale slled it, his eyes brightened, "What kind of liquor is this? It slls so fragrant."
"I heard it’s a wine brewed from a hundred kinds of herbs, greatly beneficial to the body." Knowing Dean Hale didn’t drink much, Mr. Linden didn’t hide anything and spoke candidly, "Now that I’m getting older, I’m frequently unwell. Now I sip a few cups of this wine daily, and my physical condition is much better than before."
"Don’t you have an old injury that prevents you from drinking?" Even though Dean Hale wasn’t fond of alcohol, the aroma from the jar triggered his taste buds, "Can I taste it?"
As soon as he said this, Mr. Linden tightly sealed the lid with a ’snap’ and swiftly returned the jar to his bag in one smooth motion.
"There’s only a few sips left, and I’m relying on it to nurture my wounds. If you take a sip, I won’t have any left."
Seeing his friend’s stingy deanor, Dean Hale almost laughed in anger; their friendship, seemingly over a life and death bond, was still no match for a sip of wine??
Nonetheless, Mr. Linden, despite his reluctance, still poured half a cup for Dean Hale—but not a drop more.
Dean Hale wasn’t as fond of alcohol as he and just wanted to try sothing new, regardless of the amount.
However, after half a cup of herbal liquor, Dean Hale regretted it.
"...Could I have another half cup?"
"No way!"
Back at the dical Institute, Dean Hale still couldn’t forget that small half cup of herbal liquor and could only suppress his cravings with work.
Unexpectedly, work that usually took him about two days to complete was finished in half a day today, and he didn’t suffer from any back pains or headaches either.
Just as Mr. Linden said, as you age, your body frequently feels unwell; Dean Hale felt the sa, it’s inevitable to concede to old age.
Moreover, because his physical condition was worsening every day, Dean Hale had to consider resigning and stepping down, yet it seed today brought a turn of events.
Imdiately, Dean Hale called Mr. Linden, asking where he bought the herbal liquor.
"Annie gave it to . I heard she made it herself, spending a lot of ti and effort. You want to buy it; I guess you won’t be able to." Mr. Linden said leisurely, "And also..."
"Also what??" Dean Hale got anxious.
"That child has encountered so trouble recently, so she probably doesn’t have the ti to make more herbal liquor," Mr. Linden said with a smile.
Dean Hale was silent for several seconds, "Why do I get the feeling you’re setting up?"
Regardless of whether Mr. Linden was setting him up, Dean Hale had already determined that Ann Vaughn would join the dical Institute. Since she was considered family, resolving a little trouble for her was just a minor effort.
Maybe the young lady would be so thankful that she would give him a jar of herbal liquor?
...
"What did you say?!"
Ann Vaughn, lying on the cushion, suddenly jolted upright, ignoring the prescription she was revising halfway, picked up the phone, and walked to the balcony.
Zane Lancaster lowered his voice, "Wasn’t it sothing you did? Why do you seem more surprised than ?"
"It’s not ," Ann Vaughn looked bewildered, "I haven’t even prepared to act, and Zachary Lancaster has already been found guilty and sent to prison?"
This...
Could she be living in a dream?
Zane Lancaster’s voice betrayed no emotion, "Maybe it’s a coincidence. Soone dug up all the good deeds Zachary Lancaster did in the past, presenting solid evidence that caught Lucy Lock’s lawyer off guard. She’s currently in the living room, smashing things."
Clearly, she was extrely angry.
Ann Vaughn asked in confusion, "What did he do in the past to be sentenced to life imprisonnt?"
Moreover, Lucy Lock seed utterly helpless.
The Lockwood Family shouldn’t be so incapable of protecting soone.
"Thirteen lives," Zane Lancaster said succinctly.
Ann Vaughn was instantly chilled.
Judging from Zachary Lancaster’s previous attack with a tal rod, this person likely had anger issues and was an extremist, a dangerous individual.
But never did she expect that he might actually have blood on his hands...
Thinking back, it was sheer luck that she escaped that night.
In mid-reflection, Ann Vaughn heard Zane Lancaster whispering, "I’ve prepared a gift for you; it should arrive soon."
"What gift?" Ann Vaughn furrowed her brows, "Why are you giving a gift?"
"Just to thank you for helping deal with the Lockwood Family. Once the Lockwood Family is down, there will be a grand gift in return."
Ann Vaughn sighed lightly, "It won’t be that easy. The Lockwood Family has grown to its current stature in just over a decade, relying on a solid network and three in-house pharmacists. Completely toppling the Lockwood Family won’t be easy."
"However..." Ann Vaughn pondered for a few seconds, "Dismantling it is difficult, but weakening it is quite easy. I have an idea, though it’s risky."
Zane Lancaster humd, "Tell , I’ll cooperate."
...
It’s said that fortune does not co twice, while misfortune never cos alone.
Zachary Lancaster’s court verdict had just co down when the Anti-aging Pill, recently pushed by the Lockwood Family, erupted with significant issues.
The Anti-aging Pill, though priced the sa as the Ice Skin Pill, attracted many buyers due to a promotional deal by the Lockwood Family before its release, offering buy one get one free.
Given the equivalent price and effect, people leaning towards the more economical option was only natural.
However, within a week, those who took the Anti-aging Pill in lesser quantities only faced dull skin and so spots—not too severe.
But those who consud more, had their skin turn hypersensitive with dense clusters of red spots, becoming itchier with scratching, and even gentle breezes would set it off, driving them to despair.
Initially, only a small portion of custors experienced this issue; the Lockwood Family tried every ans to suppress it, preventing a larger uproar.
Furthermore, the backbone of the Lockwood Family’s business wasn’t these custors but the elite families of The Imperial Capital and the nation; they were the Lockwood Family’s real target.
If not for suppressing Vaughn Clinic, the Lockwood Family wouldn’t even have opened the channel to let ordinary people purchase their products, as their purchasing power was too low.
Thus, even if these custors were lost, the Lockwood Family didn’t mind, as those ladies from wealthy families bought starting from a hundred boxes.
