After the doctor left, the maid ca in with food, keeping her head down, not daring to look at Ann Vaughn sitting on the bed, and placed the items on the bedside table.

Ann Vaughn rubbed her aching temples and, upon looking up, saw a stranger’s face, causing her delicate brows to furrow.

"Isn’t Betty here?"

The maid’s hand shook violently as she poured tea, causing the scalding hot tea to spill on the table.

Ann Vaughn had asked casually, but seeing the maid’s reaction now, a bad premonition suddenly arose in her heart.

She grabbed the maid’s arm and sternly asked, "What happened to Betty? Tell the truth."

"P-Princess," the maid, terrified, dropped to her knees, seemingly about to kowtow to Ann Vaughn. "I-I-I don’t know anything. Please don’t make it hard for , I’m begging you..."

Seeing her reaction, Ann Vaughn’s heart sank completely.

She eventually let go of the maid’s arm, not making things difficult for her.

The maid, as if receiving amnesty, knelt to thank her before hastily leaving the room.

Ann Vaughn forcefully closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, they were full of coldness. She suddenly threw off the quilt, got out of bed, and ran toward the door.

In the conference room.

Officials from Gothasen Central City had to co to The Royal City every week to report business, but The Old King’s recent health issues led him to delegate all these affairs to Warren Vance.

The conference table was filled with officials, reporting in turn from the left, with occasional interruptions for personal opinions, making the eting drag on for more than an hour without conclusion.

"Your Highness, I believe regarding this matter, Dext—"

The official who stood up hadn’t finished speaking when a sudden commotion at the conference room door was heard. Amidst the guards’ exclamations, a petite figure burst in from outside.

"Warren!"

A sudden sharp shout interrupted the argunt in the conference room. Everyone saw Ann Vaughn enter with a fierce aura.

Most of them recognized Ann Vaughn and rembered her vividly. Upon seeing her enter, they all consciously stopped their arguing and discussions.

Warren Vance, seated at the head, looked at Ann Vaughn. Seeing her cold deanor and the faint disgust shimring in her eyes, he couldn’t help but smile slightly.

"Why aren’t you resting in your room?"

"Did you have soone take Betty away?" Ann Vaughn stood firm before Warren Vance. Her fingers hanging by her side were so tightly clenched they turned white, and her skirt was creased from being grasped.

Warren Vance casually humd, "And what if I did?"

"What if?" Ann Vaughn almost scoffed in anger. "Is a human life so worthless to you? I’m the one who deliberately took people away, and the one who broke into that tower was also . If you want to take action, co at , but Betty did nothing wrong—how dare you target her?!"

—It’s the sa again.

Every ti it’s like this!

As soon as she steps onto this land of Gothasen, those around her disappear, beco crippled, or die in various ways.

The person wielding the knife isn’t her, yet the guilt in Ann Vaughn’s heart grows deeper.

If they hadn’t approached her, they certainly wouldn’t have ended up like that, certainly wouldn’t have...

"Warren, I can’t bear being in the sa environnt as you for one more second." Without waiting for Warren Vance to speak, Ann Vaughn backed up a few steps, her eyes dazed as she looked at him. "How long will you tornt ? Can you please let go?"

The suppressed anger in her heart even overca her fear of Warren Vance.

Whenever Ann Vaughn thought of that girl who treated her sincerely, pure and lively, and what fate had befallen her, she found it hard to control herself.

Warren Vance’s expression completely darkened.

The officials, who monts ago had been arguing fiercely, now clung to each other closer than family, trying to ease their intense fear.

In this world, probably only the Princess dares to speak to His Highness like that; anyone else would have been reduced to ashes by now.

"You reprimand for an outsider?" Warren Vance looked straight into Ann Vaughn’s eyes filled with anger, squinting as he asked.

"You’re nothing to , aren’t you?" Ann Vaughn sneered, "You hold less importance in my heart than Betty, Warren. Stop pretending you don’t understand. I never liked you in the past, and I won’t like you in the future either, I’m begging you, please let go, okay?"

Clatter—

Docunts and papers scattered all over the table.

When everyone in the conference room ca back to their senses, they saw Warren Vance forcibly pulling Ann Vaughn out.

"Sigh..." Soone sighed. "Our prince didn’t inherit the emotional intelligence of The Old King. How can he pursue a girl so rudely? Especially such an outstanding girl like Her Highness the Princess."

"If His Highness can marry the Princess, it would be greatly beneficial for both Gothasen and The Royal Family."

"Can any of you understand the language of S Country? The Princess just said so much, and I didn’t understand a word."

"I just hope His Highness doesn’t scare the Princess away. A young man can’t afford to be a little more gentlemanly and let the girl have her way, it’s worriso..."

Although Warren Vance and Ann Vaughn have not yet married, in most people’s minds, she is still Gothasen’s First Royal Consort, and that won’t change easily.

But for Ann Vaughn, it’s a burden rather than an honor.

In the room.

Warren Vance flung Ann Vaughn onto the bed and turned to instruct Quinn Bishop, "Tell Dexter to co over."

Quinn Bishop felt a chill in his heart, glanced at Ann Vaughn with a hint of pity, then turned and left.

"What exactly do you want to do?" Ann Vaughn frowned, her gaze coldly fixed on Warren Vance. "You saved my great-grandfather’s life back then, and I should be grateful. But you also took the lives of so many daughters from the Sheridan Family, even the greatest favor should be repaid by now!"

Warren Vance’s expression remained calm, unprovoked by her words. "Their deaths had nothing to do with ."

"You dare say that the deaths of so many daughters from the Sheridan Family have nothing to do with you?"

If not, then what about the murals and photos in that room?

"If you must put it that way, it indeed has sothing to do with ." Warren Vance chuckled lightly, a cold smile appearing on his pale, handso face. "Who do you think your great-grandfather made a deal with?"

Ann Vaughn pressed her lips tightly, not speaking.

Warren Vance continued, "Once a deal is made, the bond is carved into both parties’ bones and blood, enduring through generations. If breached, it will result in a death by a thousand worms eating away at one’s heart."

After speaking, he leisurely sat down on a high stool, elegantly crossing his legs.

"When they were born, I personally delivered the Phoenix Bone, rmaid’s Tear, and various treasures as a reminder—to keep them from forgetting the promise."

"Did they breach the contract because they didn’t want to marry you?" After a long silence, Ann Vaughn asked.

Warren Vance propped his chin up, smiling wryly, "Who would want to live with an immortal vampire?"

Hearing this, Ann Vaughn almost wanted to retort, "Well, at least you have so self-awareness, don’t you?"
