The few people were still dreaming of getting rich overnight and reaching the peak of life, but were ruthlessly brought back to reality by the bodyguards and resisted one after another.

"What are you doing? Getting rough, are you? Be careful, I’ll sue you for assaulting good citizens!"

"Let go of us! Well, Ann Vaughn, it’s one thing that you won’t give us back our things, but to actually command others to attack us!"

"Bah! You shaless thing! The Vaughn Family took you in out of kindness, and not only are you ungrateful, but you’re also repaying kindness with enmity! If Grandpa Vaughn knew about this from the underworld, he wouldn’t spare you!"

The malicious curses kept bombarding Ann Vaughn. Initially, it was nothing much, but when she heard the last sentence, her shoulders trembled heavily, and she suddenly bit her lip with her teeth.

Grandpa wouldn’t forgive her, would bla her...

This sentence was like a heart-piercing curse, constantly drilling into the most tender part of Ann Vaughn’s heart, deeper and deeper until it bled.

At that mont, the icy, sharp face of Cyrus Hawthorne suddenly showed a murderous intent. Uncle Dexter saw this and quickly instructed the bodyguards to throw these people out.

A bunch of troubleso scum, thinking they had co to visit Miss Vaughn in good faith, turned out to be a pack of wolves and tigers!

Ann Vaughn could no longer feel what was happening outside, her heart almost completely filled with panic and fear, with no energy left to spare.

Just when Ann Vaughn’s gaze beca dazed, doubting if she was wrong to do what she did, she was suddenly embraced by a pair of strong arms.

The warm hands gently caressed the back of her neck with a clear comforting intent.

"Think about what Grandpa Vaughn once told you, your own feelings are the most real, don’t trust outsiders too much." Cyrus Hawthorne said slowly in a low tone, with a hint of barely detectable gentleness, softly into her ear.

Ann Vaughn wasn’t sure if it was her illusion; the way he gently rubbed the back of her neck was very much like when she was little.

Back then, after playing too much and challenging the chubby kid next door on who could climb trees faster, she got scolded by her grandpa and felt very upset, and he comforted her like this.

Ann Vaughn’s expression faltered for a mont, she couldn’t help but grab onto Cyrus Hawthorne’s shirt, resting her head on his shoulder and softly speaking, "I know those things belong to the Vaughn Family, and I have no right to take them, but I just don’t want to give them to those people. They would never treat the things Grandpa left behind well. Am I being really selfish?"

"Yes, very selfish." The man answered her in a low voice, noticing the small hand clutching his shirt tighten slightly, and a faint smile appeared on his lips with a hint of deeper aning, "But you might as well be more selfish because those things originally belong to you anyway."

Belong to her?

Even though she knew his words were ant to console her, Ann Vaughn couldn’t deny that the oppression in her heart had lessened a lot.

She raised her head to look at the chiseled outline of Cyrus Hawthorne’s face in profile, asking suspiciously, "Quinn, do you know sothing?"

Otherwise, why did she always feel like every word he said seed to be hinting at sothing to her?

"Want to know?" Cyrus Hawthorne raised an eyebrow at her, the smile at the corner of his lips deepening.

Ann Vaughn imdiately nodded like a pecking chick, her bright eyes sparkling like stars, waiting eagerly for his answer.

But Cyrus Hawthorne didn’t say a word, just looking at her with a gaze that instinctively made the back of Ann Vaughn’s head go numb.

"Cyrus Hawthorne! What kind of unhealthy thoughts are you thinking of all day long?!"

The sudden outburst of Ann Vaughn’s angry shout filled the living room, causing Uncle Dexter, who was about to enter the living room to comfort her, to halt in his steps.

See no evil, see no evil!

To deal with Ann Vaughn, who was prone to overthink and imagine wildly, Cyrus Hawthorne’s thods were always simple and direct, without a need for negotiation.

"Knock knock knock."

A series of rhythmic knocking suddenly sounded, startling Ann Vaughn, and she hurriedly covered Cyrus Hawthorne’s lips with her hand, signaling him not to speak!

The great President Hawthorne interrupted from a good mont: "..."

"What’s wrong, baby? Are you hungry? Mommy will cook for you in a while, alright?" Ann Vaughn didn’t have to wait for a sound from outside to know it was Kenny knocking on the door.

"Knock." One knock, indicating a "yes." answer.

Ann Vaughn hurriedly said, "Wait a minute," straightening her pale blue suit before opening the door to leave, but was held back by Cyrus Hawthorne.

Confused, she looked at Cyrus Hawthorne and nervously asked, "What’s wrong? Kenny’s awake."

Cyrus Hawthorne glanced at her nervous deanor with narrowed eyes, and sneered coldly, "If I really wanted to continue doing sothing to you, do you think that little brat could stop ?"

Her mind read, Ann Vaughn blushed in embarrassnt, and then saw Cyrus Hawthorne open the door and walk out, scooped up Little Dumpling, who was obediently waiting outside, and said in a deep voice, "Good son, Daddy will play with you."

Little Dumpling: ?? No, I refuse!!

But he couldn’t speak at the mont and could only look at his mommy with a desperate plea for salvation in his eyes, reaching out to grasp his last hope.

Ann Vaughn wanted to bring Kenny back, but Cyrus Hawthorne walked off quickly with his long legs, leaving her with no choice but to give up.

Besides, every ti this father and son t, it felt like they were swords crossed, like they were fighting over each other’s woman, leaving her speechless.

There’s no better day than today, so she might as well let them cultivate so father-son bonding while they can!
