A cold, deep voice suddenly appeared, startling Ann Vaughn. Just as she was about to turn around, her wrist was forcibly seized, and the bottle of dicine in her hand was taken away!

Ann Vaughn turned her head, trying to retrieve the dication, only to see a cold face inches away from her, the eyes flickering slightly.

"What are you trying to give Grandpa to drink?" Cyrus Hawthorne looked down at the small glass bottle in his hand, inside of which was an unknown light brown liquid, and asked her coldly.

Ann Vaughn hurriedly explained, "This dicine is beneficial for Grandpa’s health; it can help him regain consciousness quickly."

"Ha," Cyrus Hawthorne sneered coldly, "Doctors can’t do that, but this bottle can? Ann Vaughn, are you hoping Grandpa never wakes up?"

"Whether you believe it or not, it was this kind of dicine that saved Grandpa’s life that day. You can’t just disregard the facts," Ann Vaughn said, feigning calmness under his imposing, cold gaze.

Previously, only Grandpa and she knew about the dicine; she never dared easily reveal this secret to others and seldom used it before people.

She never expected Cyrus Hawthorne to discover it today...

Her mind was in chaos, and Cyrus Hawthorne’s slightly warm palm around her wrist suddenly tightened as he coldly led her out of the ward, heading directly to the elevator.

"Where are you taking ? Let go—" Ann Vaughn, not as strong as him, was pulled into the elevator. Watching him press the floor button, a bad premonition arose in her mind.

"The police station." Cyrus Hawthorne’s narrow eyes were cold as he glanced at her with indifference, "The reason is your alleged intent to murder."

"You’re making baseless accusations!" Ann Vaughn struggled without breaking free, but seeing Cyrus Hawthorne genuinely seed to suspect her of murder, her heart sank in frustration.

What kind of luck is this!

"If you don’t believe , you can send soone to test the contents of this bottle. If it’s proven harmful, you can deal with as you wish," Ann Vaughn gritted her teeth, trying to explain to him, "Grandpa treats so well, how could I harm him?"

Cyrus Hawthorne paid her no mind, one hand gripping her wrist, the other efficiently typing on his phone, as cold as an emotionless statue.

Ann Vaughn still wanted to clear things up, only to find the elevator lights suddenly went out, followed by a slight jolt as the elevator ca to a halt.

"What’s going on?" Suddenly plunged into darkness, Ann Vaughn’s heart skipped a beat. She hastily fumbled for her phone to light up the space, only to discover it was out of battery and had shut down.

Her expression turned sowhat unpleasant as she furrowed her brow, her slender back pressed against the cold wall, her heart taut like a drawn string, her eyes full of panic and helplessness.

When she was young, she followed her grandpa into the mountains to gather herbs. Even if she accidentally got lost alone in more perilous and terrifying forests, she was never afraid and could still find her way ho by herself.

However, ever since Cynthia had accidentally locked her in an old warehouse while playing around as a child, where it took a day and a night before they realized she was missing and found her in the warehouse,

she missed the last chance to et Cyrus Hawthorne before he went abroad then.

That was also the first ti Ann Vaughn realized that narrow, confined, and silent spaces were far more dangerous and terrifying than forests.

Ever since then, she has been extrely frightened of enclosed spaces without light.

Just then, Ann Vaughn felt Cyrus Hawthorne beside her suddenly move. He stepped forward a few paces and pressed the ergency button on the wall.

Imdiately after, a voice from the security room quickly echoed in the quiet elevator, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused. We’ve sent technicians to repair it as soon as possible and hope you can wait patiently... We... Bzzz..."

Before the sentence was finished, the voice on the other side disappeared completely.
