Although I didn’t know what happened during the day Ann Vaughn was missing.

But from her aggrieved nasal tone just now and the bloodstains on her nightdress, it was clear she had experienced so kind of crisis.

Warren Vance...

He really did a good job.

Cyrus Hawthorne squinted his narrow eyes tight, his brows furrowed with a murderous aura, even the air around him seed frozen.

Coming out of the bathroom, Cyrus laid Ann back on the bed, pulled the thin blanket over her, and fixed his gaze on her fever-flushed cheeks, staring nearly greedily, as if he couldn’t get enough.

Clearly, she had been gone for just a day, yet it felt as if an entire century had passed.

Thankfully, she was back.

The Little Dumpling had been waiting outside the door for his daddy to call him, but when he didn’t, he quietly opened the door and peered inside.

Seeing what he saw, he puffed up like a pufferfish in anger.

The Archfiend had chased him out just to have their mommy all to himself!

He trusted him so much!!

The Little Dumpling gently closed the door again, then scampered over to the bed and quickly climbed onto it to claim the side next to Ann Vaughn.

His heart, anxious for the entire day, finally settled down.

The family of three lay on the sa bed. Although they weren’t close, keeping a slight distance not to wake Ann, the warmth couldn’t be expressed in words.

...

Ann Vaughn slept for three whole days and nights before waking up. Though her spirit was restored, her body was still weak and even walking was difficult.

Regarding this, Ian Yardley kindly offered his wheelchair to her — having consud Ann Vaughn’s prescribed dicine for days, he could now walk without the wheelchair, even if he couldn’t do so for long yet.

"This wheelchair is quite comfy, not only can you adjust the height, but it also automatically overcos obstacles, guaranteeing it as an essential for ho and travel!"

Listening to Ian’s slick pitch, Ann Vaughn rolled her eyes and was about to refuse when Cyrus Hawthorne spoke up to reject it.

"No need, she has ."

Then, he spoon-fed her cooled porridge.

Ann opened her mouth to eat, chewed it for a bit, and made a bitter face, "Why is this porridge cooked with dicine? It completely overshadows the original fragrant sll of the porridge, it’s awful."

She pushed Cyrus’s hand away, turning her face aside, unwilling to take another bite.

"In a bit, suck on a mint candy to sweeten your mouth, but finish the porridge first." Cyrus couldn’t bear to scold or reprimand this spoiled little ancestor, so he could only coax her gently.

If it was in the past, even Cyrus himself wouldn’t have imagined he could be so patient at a ti like this.

Ann Vaughn, with a puckered face, said, "How about you take to the kitchen so I can make another batch myself?"

Worried that she wouldn’t take her dicine directly, Cyrus had Breeze cook the porridge with dicine, preserving its effects without being overly bitter.

Who knew Ann’s tongue was so discerning, pinpointing the difference imdiately.

Cyrus sighed softly, "I’ll eat a bite, you eat a bite, let’s suffer together, how about it?"

This offer?

Ann’s eyes lit up instantly and she nodded eagerly.

Off to the side, Ian Yardley just stood there dumbstruck.

A complex feeling welled up in his chest, making his view of Ann beco bittersweet.

His sister really lost this ti?

Never mind, whom Kingston likes isn’t for him to decide, and besides, this troublemaker... isn’t as bad as he thought.

Girls’ matters, he better not get involved.

Thinking this, Ian quietly left the master bedroom with his wheelchair, enabled the wheel’s auto-control, and pulled out his phone to send a ssage to Willow Yardley.

In the next second, Willow’s call ca in.

"Xiaoyang, has your health truly improved?"

"Truly, sis, I’ve been able to walk these past two days without feeling breathless or chest tight, though still weary if I overdo it. The doctors say gradual progress is key, not to rush."

Willow chuckled, "The Imperial Capital is full of hidden talents, so it’s no surprise to find a skillful doctor. What’s rare is how quickly your condition responded. It’s all thanks to Kingston’s effort to find an expert for you despite his busy schedule."

Upon hearing this, Ian’s expression turned a bit odd.

"Xiaoyang, why aren’t you saying anything?"

Ian struggled internally but eventually revealed that Ann Vaughn had been helping treat him.

Willow was silent for a mont before laughing softly, "She’s quite a clever one."

"What?"

"Kingston values you, so if she’s wise, she’d know that by impressing you, she could win Kingston’s favor too," Willow explained, "Your straightforward nature makes you vulnerable, and it’s possible you’re unknowingly being used as a stepping stone for soone’s rise."

Ann Vaughn... using him?

Ian furrowed his brows, deep in thought.

Just past one o’clock, on the 8th, unexpected guests arrived.

And they were acquaintances.

"Annie, what..." Seeing that it was Cyrus who brought Ann into the living room, Chief Lynch and Mrs. Linden showed surprise on their faces.

Reese Lynch quietly observed Cyrus; she’d seen him at a top-tier business banquet before but didn’t dare approach due to his cold deanor that seed to keep everyone at bay.

Now looking again, she noticed he still possessed the sa imposing aura but had sothing now that wasn’t there before.

Reese hadn’t figured out what it was when Mrs. Linden pulled her to sit down.

"Apologies for not giving prior notice before suddenly visiting and disturbing you," Chief Lynch said.

"Not at all." Ann gently shook her head, knowing they were here for her, she directly asked, "Is there sothing wrong?"

Mrs. Linden smiled warmly at her, "We owe you so much for helping rescue Rory from that brute, and never found the right mont to properly thank you for your imnse favor to the Lynch family."

Seeing them about to bow in gratitude, Ann nearly stumbled as she tried to stand, but fortunately, Cyrus caught her in ti.

"Uncle Linden, Aunt Linden, Reese, there’s no need for this."

"Annie, although the words ’thank you’ may feel cheap and repetitive, I genuinely want to express my gratitude." Thinking about how close they ca to losing their daughter, Reese’s eyes started to redden, and she sincerely held Ann’s hand, "It would be so wonderful if you were my sister."

"Honestly, we feel such a bond with Ann, so why not seize this chance and acknowledge her as kin?" Chief Lynch’s tone was solemn and didn’t seem like a joke.

Ann was dumbfounded.

Is this even possible?

Mrs. Linden promptly agreed, "Every ti I see you, I think it would be lovely if you were my daughter, so considerate and understanding, brings warmth to the heart."

" too, too. If Ann were my sister, I’d laugh in my sleep!"

After they spoke, all three pairs of eyes locked onto Ann, eagerly awaiting her response.

Ann instinctively turned to look at Cyrus, her eyes clearly spelling out three words:
