She let out a deep sigh to calm herself and continued, “But Lin Ran, once we switched back, your parents were doing their best to make it up to you. But for , I never felt an ounce of affection from my own parents. You still have a ho, but I don’t even have one. So who should I resent?”

Lin Nuan spoke with a pale face as her eyes filled up with sorrow.

“Everyone has so kind of sadness in this world. You’re not special.”

She turned around and walked downstairs when she caught a glance of Liang Mulan’s cardigan at the bottom of the stairs. Lin Nuan suddenly froze.

Liang Mulan was standing at the bottom of the stairs holding a bowl of fresh fruits when she heard Lin Nuan coming back downstairs. She imdiately wiped away her tears and walked away.

Lin Nuan left the file on the sofa and said her goodbyes to Liang Mulan as she ca out smiling with a bowl of freshly cut fruits. She lied and said she had a eting back at the television station.

Liang Mulan didn’t insist on her staying after hearing her conversation with Lin Ran.

Just as Lin Nuan changed into her shoes and went out, Lin Chen’s car had parked in front.

As he shut the door, he saw Lin Nuan walking out in her sneakers with her backpack on. “Are you leaving?” he asked.

“Yes!” Lin Nuan nodded. “I have a eting back at the station.” She felt her ears getting a bit hot as she brushed her hair behind her ear—she wasn’t used to lying.

Lin Chen could tell she was lying but decided not to expose her. He opened the car door and said, “Let send you off…”

Without giving Lin Nuan any chance to say no, he had already sat in the driver’s seat. Lin Nuan said goodbye to Liang Mulan and sat in the car.

Liang Mulan stood at the door and watched Lin Chen’s car drive away. She still thought about what Lin Nuan said. “You still have a ho, yet I don’t…” It broke her heart. She placed her hand over her chest as her eyes watered.

After a long while, she wiped away her tears and went back inside the house.

Lin Chen didn’t ask about Fu Huai’an in the car. Instead, he brought up Su Manman.

“Do you know Su Manman?” he asked.

Lin Nuan took out her vibrating phone from her purse and answered with her eyes glued to the phone, “She ca on my show before—it’s going to air next week…”

She opened her Weibo and saw a commotion surrounding her na.

It was Gu Hanyan’s Weibo account that stood up to defend her as it claid she knew Lin Nuan for years, and that Wen Moshen only saw her as a sister. Hence people should give Lin Nuan a break since the post was fake. She claid the person behind the post was her cousin and @ her so she could set things straight with Lin Nuan.

Just a minute before, Gu Hanyan’s cousin sent out a post that admitted she had beef with Lin Nuan back in school since the senior she liked was chasing Lin Nuan instead, yet Lin Nuan was rely ignoring him. Hence she could explain herself for the sake of her cousin, but not to Lin Nuan unless she apologized to that senior first!

It was a hot ss on Weibo. Lin Nuan was let off the hook because of the support from Su Manman and Shi Hanchu.

She irritatedly closed her Weibo.

“You don’t need to mind what’s going on on Weibo now. Wen Moshen will take care of the ss he and Gu Hanyan made,” Lin Chen said, half-glancing at her, “If you don’t want to go to Moshen’s wedding…”
